Chapter 555 Handle With Care
When Eudora's hand was about to touch the box, she quickly withdrew it. "Colbert, come over here and
take a look. The dust on this box varies in depth, and even a few fingerprints exist. It indicates that
someone else knows about this place and has been here."
Colbert approached her, his gaze fixed on the box intricately carved with special patterns.
There were clear fingerprints on the patterns, but they were covered with a thin layer of dust.
"From the thickness and spacing of the fingerprints, I could tell that it's obviously a man's," Colbert
observed.
Colbert reached out and opened the box, revealing two handguns and several rounds of ammunition.
Colbert and Eudora exchanged suppressed glances, then turned their attention back to the box.
Colbert picked up one of the handguns and examined it. "This is a 9.1mm caliber Desert Eagle,
commonly known as the 'Desert Eagle.'"
He carefully studied one of the bullets. "Judging from its condition and the fingerprints on the box, I
guess this person appeared less than two years ago."
"It must be someone from your household."
Eudora didn't have the knowledge to analyze these things, but judging from the thickness of the dust
on the fingerprints, it hadn't been long since someone had been here.
"We need further investigation."
Colbert couldn't be sure if the person who entered the secret room were from the Steele family, but he
was sure that they must have triggered a mechanism when they fell from above.
"Hey, I just thought of something."
Eudora snatched the handgun from Colbert's hand, holding it and tilting her head. "We discovered this All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
secret room together. Look at those statues we saw earlier. They're ancient artifacts. If we sell them,
shouldn't I get a share of the money?"
Surviving a fall from above meant they were fortunate indeed.
As the saying went, "Every cloud has a silver lining."
Eudora really wanted to get out quickly and sell those statues for a good price, becoming wealthy
overnight.
"But that's only if you can make it out alive."
Colbert raised an eyebrow, a faint smile appearing on his handsome face. He raised his right index
finger and pushed the gun barrel aside. "Be careful not to accidentally fire the gun and hurt someone. If
I die, you won't be able to make it out on your own."
"I..."
Eudora was momentarily speechless, unsure how to retort, but she couldn't help but admit that Colbert
had a point.
If something were to happen to him, she would have a difficult time escaping on her own.
