Chapter 904 Is It A Good Idea (Part One)

"Seriously? A blind date?" Mike asked. His eyes were wide in astonishment. "What a shame for such a

pickup artist like me!" he exclaimed.

"Well, look at Greg. He is younger than you but he already got married," Soren mentioned Greg as an

example. "It's time for you to settle down. You must hurry up and get married. I want to see my

grandson in a year. I don't mind if you will even have a shotgun wedding," Soren demanded. Every time

he met with his friends, they always talked about their cute grandchildren. He could only sit and listen

quietly to their bragging. So, to avoid such embarrassment again, he decided to urge his son to wed.

"You should have informed me earlier so I wouldn't have used any protection when having sex. That

way, you could already have a dozen of grandchildren running around you," Mike whined casually. His

father's sudden announcement really took him by great surprise. It was even more shocking than being Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

caught sleeping with another woman by his father.

"It's okay for you to have fun in some clubs but you can't marry someone who works there. You must

choose a well bred woman. Our family has a reputation in this city so you must find a good match.

Don't ever forget that," Soren lectured.

"Oh man!" Mike was already losing his patience. He got up and went straight to the bathroom to wash

up.

Half an hour later, the charming young man had put on a tailored suit. After saying goodbye to his

father, he went out of the house with a car key in his hand.

Instead of heading for the rendezvous, he drove straight to the JC Group.

The moment he stepped into Lawrence's office, he spotted Ivy.

"Good morning, Ivy honey," he greeted playfully as usual. Ivy had changed a lot since she entered the

JC Group. She became more feminine with her outfit and way of speaking. She had turned herself into

a sophisticated assistant from being an innocent and inexperienced girl over the past year.

"Good morning, Mr. Mike. Please come inside and have a seat. Mr. Lawrence is still in a meeting but

he will be back in a minute," Ivy greeted him back politely and ushered him to Lawrence's office. "I will

prepare a cup of coffee for you. Please wait a minute," she added with a diplomatic smile. When Mike

was already seated, she turned around and left to get a cup of coffee.

'What a lucky guy Lawrence is. He is surrounded by so many hot girls yet he never introduces any of

them to me, ' Mike enviously thought to himself. He had totally forgotten the appointment his father had

arranged for him.

After five minutes, Ivy came back to the office with a cup of coffee in her hand. She stooped and placed

the coffee mug in front of Mike. Then she said politely, "I hope you enjoy your coffee, Mr. Mike."

"Thank you," Mike answered, resting his eyes on Ivy's cleavage. Since she was wearing a black formal

dress with a plunging neckline, her cleavage showed off.

Ivy noticed Mike's gaze. 'There is still some time before boss comes back. Besides, he doesn't have

any appointments in the morning so...' she pondered.

"Do you have something urgent to tell Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Mike?" Ivy inquired. She took the seat beside

Mike casually.

"Not something important. Are you interested to know?" Mike asked on purpose. Ivy's behavior

indicated that she was curious. She was approaching him and he could already smell her strong

perfume.

"Well, if it's not something confidential, I'd like to hear. Otherwise, you better not tell me. After all, it's

your business. I don't need to know that much," Ivy replied sweetly.

Paying no heed to what Ivy was implying, Mike dropped the subject. Instead, he abruptly said, "There

is actually one thing I found interesting." He looked at Ivy and continued, "Among Lawrence's

assistants, Polly was the most experienced and he trusted her the most. Why did he fire her?"

Ivy's expression immediately changed when she heard Mike's words. The polite smile froze on her

face. She was about to say something but eventually, she didn't continue.

She instantly stood up from her seat and stepped back to keep her distance from Mike. Stroking a wisp

of her hair, she made an excuse to take leave. "I forgot that I still have some work to do. I have to go,

Mr. Mike," she bid goodbye with a rattled expression.

She then rushed out of the office without even waiting for him to answer.

As he heard the sound of the high heels fade away, his mouth twisted in a dismissive sneer. He

mumbled, "Women are complex creatures. I really can't get them. I only hope that she will not repeat

Rebecca's mistakes."

At present, Lawrence had two assistants and Ivy was the chief assistant. It actually took her a year to

be able to climb up to this position. At first, it was difficult for her to distinguish herself among the three

of them. So, she set up Polly and kicked her out of the company. She didn't even consider that Polly

was the one who helped her a lot when she was newly hired. Only a few people knew the real reason

why Polly was dismissed from the company. It was said that she made a mistake by providing a wrong

information which caused a huge loss to the company. The high-level managers from the board made

the decision to lay off Polly. Lawrence couldn't do anything to change it and Polly didn't even get the

chance to defend herself. As a result, Ivy took her place.

The moment Lawrence stepped out of the lift, he caught sight of Ivy who was buried in her work.

When Ivy noticed someone's presence, she looked up. She immediately rose from her seat when she

saw that it was Lawrence. She reported, "Mr. Lawrence, Mr. Mike is waiting in your office."

"I see. Give me a cup of coffee without sugar," Lawrence ordered while heading for his office.

"Yes, boss," Ivy replied promptly.
