Invincible Heir

Chapter 13 Take your wife and run

Chapter 13 Take your wife and run

“What are you doing?”

Unable to reach the children in time, Yuri could only shout.

“Yuri!”

No longer capable of holding back her tears, Lara gave a shout herself and raced towards Yuri.

Seeing that a parent had arrived, the boy lost his nerve and turned to run away.

In his rush, he slipped just as he turned, landing with a thump.

“Wahh…”

With his fall, the boy began to cry, drawing the attention of everyone on the scene.

Lara was crying herself into a mess as well, sobbing, “I’m not a wild child, I have a Dad.”

Her eyes red, Yuri held Lara in a tight hug, stroking the girl’s back as gentle as it could be. “Of course

you’re not a wild child, Lara. You have a Dad.”

“Tony!”

A middle-aged couple hurried over, doting incessantly over the fallen child, “Don’t cry, baby, who bullied

you? Mommy’s going to teach them a lesson.”

“She pushed me, Mommy! It really hurt!”

The crying boy levelled a tiny finger at Lara.

Yuri was beginning to rankle. She’d seen the boy move to push Lara with her own eyes, and the fall

had been the fault of his own clumsy self anyway, even if he was lashing out now.

She didn’t have time to get a word in before the boy’s mother got in her face and fired away with

indiscriminate abandon. “Your child is an undisciplined delinquent - the raw nerve of hers, hitting my

son. Do you even know who I am?” This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Indignant, Lara protested, “I didn’t hit him, he was going to hit me, and he called me a wild child who

didn’t have a Dad.”

“So you really are an undisciplined little swine. If your household’s parents won’t discipline you, I’ll do it

in their place.”

The boy’s mother made her way towards Lara even as she spoke, actually meaning to strike her.

Furious, Yuri stepped protectively in front of Lara, ready for a fight as she spat, “Just try laying a finger

on her!”

“Madams, please, you can’t start a fight here!”

Noticing the situation, teachers ran over to stop the pair.

But it was too late, and the mother had already charged at Yuri, extending her hand to rake her fingers

down her face. “I’ll rip that face of yours apart!”

Yuri was known as the Red-Hot Pepper of the Perry family, and she wasn’t exactly intent on letting

some entitled, rambling little housewife get the better of her.

Before her opponent could even touch her, she’d snapped out her foot in a kick.

“Agh!”

The boy’s mother released a pained groan as Yuri’s high heel planted itself in her gut, and she turned

her rage onto her husband. “So you’re just going to stand there and watch me get hit?”

The middle-aged man had been ogling Yuri since he first laid eyes on her, but now that his own wife

was taking a beating, he threw his regard for beauty out the window and swung at her with a slap.

Shocked, the crowd tittered in disbelief that a man would lay hands on a woman in broad daylight.

“Yuri!” Lara shouted as the man closed, about to rush in herself.

Taken by surprise, there was no room for Yuri to dodge, and as the man’s palm filled the space

between them, she instinctively squeezed her eyes shut.

Whap.

But in that instant, a shadow flickered before them, grasping the middle-aged man by the wrist.

“Ack!”

The pain in his wrist drew a strangled cry from the man.

Yuri opened her eyes at the sound, only to see a broad back shielding her from the front.

“Dad!”

Lara recognised her father just from his silhouette and released an overjoyed shout.

Without releasing his grip, Baron Owen suddenly spoke - “Cover Lara’s eyes!”

Only now, upon hearing his voice, did Yuri recognise her savior.

“Right,” she said, covering Lara’s eyes.

“Get your hands off me!”

Pained, his face beet-red, the middle-aged man glared at Baron and hollered, “Have you any idea who

I...”

Wham.

Before he’d even finished boasting, a burst of pain spread out from his stomach, and he found his

entire body flying off into the distance like a football before he landed hard.

Dead silence hung over the air. Everyone at the scene wore a similarly dumbfounded expression.

Yuri had just witnessed Baron send a one-hundred-and-eighty-pound adult male flying eight meters

with a single kick.

Her delicate features were wide with bewilderment.

“Dad! Why are you here?”

Lara wrested herself out of Yuri’s hand and sprinted joyfully towards Baron.

As he held his daughter, a gentle smile spread across Baron’s face. “I’m here to take you home, of

course.”

After seeing Baron kick a man so hard he flew, contrasted with another look at his currently soft, gentle

features, Yuri had to ask herself - was this really the useless brother-in-law everyone was looking down

on?

“See, Tony? I’m not a wild child, I have a Dad! This here is my Dad!”

Tony burst into tears. The image of his own Dad sent flying by Lara’s Dad was now seared into the little

boy’s mind.

Baron’s heart ached as he heard his daughter’s words. Having a fully complete family was such a

distant wish to her that simply seeing her father brought her this much delight.

It was the first time Yuri had seen Lara this happy, and she rubbed her reddening eyes as she sighed to

herself.

“Kid, you’ve got some nerve hitting me like that. Just you wait!”

It took a long while for the middle-aged man to stand, eyes boiling with rage. He immediately went and

placed a phone call.

“Dear parents, please. It was just a bit of fun between children - there’s no need for such hostility; it’s a

bad influence on the young.” The principal of the kindergarten had come out personally to mediate.

The braggart simply replied, “Don’t bother, Mrs. Green. As Connor Johnson of the Johnson family, I

can’t let this nameless little swine get away with beating on me. If word got out, I can kiss my reputation

goodbye!”

Her face darkening, Yuri stood next to Baron and said lowly, “He’s with the Johnson family. Take Lara

and hurry on out of here. I’m a woman; he can’t do much to me.”

Baron shot Yuri a surprised glance. He didn’t think this woman had that kind of backbone, even if it was

a little too late.

Three microvans sped in from the distance and rolled up in front of the kindergarten. From each car

emerged half a dozen big, burly men.

“All right, which one of you messed with Mr. Connor? Get out here!”

The brute in the lead bellowed.

Frightened, a tremble ran up Lara’s body, and she wrapped her arms tight around Baron’s neck.

In that instant, a cold aura exuded from the depths of Baron’s body, and the temperature of the

surroundings seemed to drop by several degrees. Chills ran up Yuri’s spine, and she studied the man

beside her in astonishment.

“Don’t be scared, Lara. Dad’s right here. Nobody’s going to hurt you,” Baron said gently.

His reassurance had a great effect on Lara. No longer afraid, her bright eyes shone. “Really, Dad?”

“Dad never lies.”

Baron finished seriously, then turned to Yuri. “Get Lara out of here. I’ll deal with this.”

“Dad, I’m not leaving you!”

Upon hearing her father’s words, Lara panicked and tightened her grip, a sob entering her voice.

“Mr. Owen, take your wife and run!”

No one knew when and from where the ironclad figure appeared next to Baron.

Baron’s brow blackened as Charles spoke. And just how was she his wife again?
