Chapter 82
Chapter 82
Lottie’s POV
“Fuck, Lottie! Is that seriously what the prison said? That’s totally bizarre! Do you think someone could be hand delivering them to my house? That’s so damn creepy to think about!” Anna panics slightly, as we drive towards her aunts home to spend the day.
Anna had every right to be freaking out right now since the letters themselves consistently turned up to her place! The only address that Tommy knew I was living at during my time away from them…
“I don’t think so Anna… if it was someone hand delivering them then surely they would figure out that I don’t actually live with you anymore? Tommy must have just given them your address and they are sending the letters from wherever they are… they could be across the country for all we know! That’s where the prison is!” I ramble, as we both somewhat play detective in a weak attempt to figure it out.
“Yeah I guess you’re right. Who would travel that far to the prison and back again just to hand deliver a damn letter! They can’t be from around here so that’s one less thing to worry about.” Anna drives on, as she talks, voicing her thoughts.
“But the scary thing is, what if they do wind up coming out here? What if the letters aren’t enough? What if they want to cause serious harm?!” I state, as we both sigh at the thought.
“Well he is working with Tommy after all! He must be fucking sick to even want to help him torment us again! We can’t put anything past them – even from in prison!” Anna rants, as we pull up to Rinnas place.
Jace’s car was already here, as we park up behind it, before exiting and approaching the front door to the house.
“Let’s just have fun today… take our minds off it for a while!” Anna sighs, as I nod in agreement with her, before we walk into what we consider to be our groups ‘family home‘.
I loved our days over at Rinnas place. She always went above and beyond to help me out and make me feel welcome! She was a true mother figure to basically all of us, not just Jace.
“There you are! My favourite girls!” We are greeted by the smiling woman, as we both rush to hug her, enjoying the comfort of her embrace.
We both needed her hug more than she actually knew today…

“Listen up girls! Cocktails have already been pre–made and are in the kitchen waiting for you both! Jace is in the lounge!” Aunt Rinna chirps, as we both laugh and smile at her hospitality.
We had agreed to do at least one cocktail day every month with Rinna, a tradition that we hoped to carry on for many years to come!
Grateful for the distraction, Anna and I entered the familiar kitchen, our worries momentarily pushed aside. The enticing aroma of delicious food filled the air, mingling with the anticipation of the cocktails awaiting us.
Our eyes landed on the array of colorful drinks displayed on the counter. Each glass seemed to beckon us towards it, promising an escape from our troubles.
We exchanged excited glances, knowing that these moments were the ones we treasured the most – times when we could simply enjoy each other’s company and forget about the outside world, even
if it is only for a little while.
Carefully selecting our cocktails, both choosing a strawberry daiquiri first, we carry them with utmost care, savoring the clinking sound of the glasses as we make our way to the lounge.
Rinna went off to greet her friend Flo at the door. Flo was her very own ‘drinking buddy‘ as she likes to call her. The woman had recently started attending our cocktail days and had seemed nice enough from the times I had spoken with her.
Jace was seated in the lounge as we entered, a football game playing on the TV.
“Ugh! If it isn’t my least favourite cousin and her sidekick!” He turns to look at us both briefly, before groaning dramatically, earning glares from us both which only causes him to laugh out loudly.
Now that I was closer with Jace, the newly formed relationship between us both only resulted in him involving me in his playful torment…
R
Previously, Jace would simply stick to annoying Anna, his cousin, but has recently decided to add me into the mix – regularly complaining and poking fun at us both!
“Oh! If it isn’t my very single cousin! What happened to you Jace? What happened to the whole ‘I can get with any girl‘ attitude huh? It seems that the females in town are repulsed by you these days – but I don’t blame them!” Anna snorts, as we both plop down onto the cosy sofas – laughing loudly at her comment.
“Piss off! I can get any girl in this town… including the very taken, married ones…” Jace winks, seeming to smirk to himself knowingly, as I gasp and Anna gags at his words.
“You’re seriously so disgusting!” Anna states with an eye roll, unamused, as Jace stares on at the TV in accomplishment – unbothered.
It is only then that we hear more chatter coming from the hallway, before Dels voice comes into range, signalling that he had now arrived too.
Moments later, Del appears in the room, before a platinum blonde head bounces in behind him – blowing and popping a large bubble of gum.
I eye Anna briefly, knowing she was also inwardly groaning, as we almost forgot about Clara!
Why Clara was now a part of our group I will never know… but I seriously couldn’t bring myself to find a single quality about her that I liked… I don’t know what Del sees in her other than her boobs which she got for her eighteenth!
“How’s the home looking Lottie? Alex won’t let us step foot over there til it’s done!” Del laughs, taking a seat and directing the question at me.
I watch Clara, as she throws me a quick glare before deciding to sit directly on Dels knee as opposed to the available seat beside him…
Well then…
“It’s so amazing! I can’t wait for you both to see it! I literally had to beg him just to let Anna come over I was that excited!” I rush out, remembering how fabulous my new home was.
I still couldn’t believe that it was actually my home and that Alex wanted me to live there with him permanently!
“So how much are you paying towards it?” Clara’s screechy voice fills the room next, her condescending tone hitting my ears, causing my excitement to instantly wither away.
“What?” I all but manage to question, as her eyes hold a bitchy fire in them as she watches me steadily from across the room.
“Oh I just thought you had paid for some of the stuff too? You know? Just to help make it feel more like your home and not just Alex‘ place that you’re staying at temporarily! For all you know he could chuck you out on the street if he wanted to!” Clara waves her long acrylic hand and giggles, her statement ripping through me aggressively.
“Are you kidding? Alex would die before letting Lottie pay for anything! She doesn’t need to pay for shit if he’s offering her the world for free – why would she?!” Jace surprisingly comes to my defence, as I nod a silent thanks towards him as soon as we make eye contact.
Clara rubs her hand up and down Dels arm slowly, no doubt using her witchy powers to keep him under her spell, as Anna cocks her head to the side watching her in awkward amusement.
“I just couldn’t let Del pay for everything I would feel like a terrible girlfriend! You know? Nothing will ever really belong to you? I would just feel like such a lazy freeloader!” Clara drags the sentence out next, meaning to target every word in my direction as her verbal assault stings me slightly.
Does people seriously think I’m just freeloading off Alex? I don’t ever ask him for a thing he just always insists!
–
The only damn person I think I have ever freeloaded from is Anna – who also insisted that is was no hassle – but at that point in my life I didn’t have anything… I needed the support.
But what’s stopping me from getting a job now?
I mean, maybe she’s right?
Nothing will ever truly be mine… Alex could take it all away too if he wakes up one day and decides that he doesn’t want me anymore…
My heart beat quickens with the sudden rush of thoughts drilling into my mind, my anxiety heightening with it.
R
I don’t want to admit it aloud, but maybe Clara had a point. What if I am a lazy freeloader? Seriously! What is stopping me from working and getting a job of my own these days?
Then I could have my own things, my own money… I’m being a total embarrassment! Maybe the others think it too but would hate to admit it?
“Know what Clara? Shut the fuck up and mind your own business!” My attention snaps to Anna as she speaks out loudly, earning an amused smirk from Jace and a horrified look from Del.
“Anna what the fuck?” Del comments, evidently under Clara’s spell, as he doesn’t understand what had just happened.
“She’s a fucking bitch!” Anna deadpans, seeming to finally lose her shit with how Clara treats us.
“Quit it Anna I’m serious!” Del warns, as my head snaps back and forth between them – Jace notably covering his face now with his hands at the scene.
“Yeah quit it hun or we will have a serious problem here!” Clara’s snarky tone comes out now, only adding to Anna’s rage.
“Sure thing Del! Defend her even after she’s just called Lottie a lazy fucking freeloader!” Anna fumes, leaning forward slightly, completely infuriated.
Del looks both confused and enraged by the outburst, as Clara meekly shrugs at the fact…
“She called Lottie WHAT?!” The whole room turns towards the new voice by the door, seeing Alex filling up the doorway – completely seething.
Oh jeez here we go…
