Chapter 802 Lead a Good Life
Chapter 802 Lead a Good Life
Joseph was a few steps quicker, and Noah was stopped outside the room. He knocked on the door and a house helper answered.
"Is there anything I can do for you, Mr. Noah?"
"Am I not allowed inside?"
"Not at the moment. Mr. Desmond ordered it so."
Noah faked a smile and did not leave. "Why Joseph is in there, why can't I go in?" All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
The helper could feel Noah's intimidation, and he bowed his head. "Please don't make things difficult for me. I can’t read Mr. Desmond's thoughts. Please just wait. Don't worry, he surely wouldn’t side with an outsider."
Noah had always been this way. The usually gentle Noah would turn into a whole different person when it came to Chloe.
Noah's expression softened slightly. "Okay, I'll wait downstairs."
Fifteen minutes later, Joseph and Desmond came out of the room. Noah got up and walked to Desmond to show his support to the latter. "Grandpa."
Desmond gave him a reproachful look, and the atmosphere became inexplicably dull.
"I'll be taking her then, Mr. Desmond." Joseph waved at Vince.
Desmond pursed his lips and grunted his approval.
Noah watched as Vince walked toward the detached wing. Stunned, he asked. "Grandpa?"
"Let them take her. Our family mustn't have anything to do with Duskfall."
"No!" Noah refused, becoming deeply unhappy. "Things do not come for free in this world."
As soon as Vanya was cured, Joseph came to take her away. His timing was simply impeccable.
Joseph scoffed. "Isn't she only here temporarily? Is there any reason she should stay?"
The living room was pin-drop silent.
Noah stared at Joseph fearlessly and laughed. "You're good at shifting blame, Mr. Joseph. The next time you need help, I won't be there.”
"Do you have some sort of ulterior motive for doing this?"
"No, I only value Chloe in everything I do."
Noah appeared calm and innocent. Everyone would believe his generosity and sincerity just based on his gaze. They would think his love for Chloe was real.
Joseph was experienced and had met many wolves in sheep's clothing. Despite being so young, Noah was so shrewd and could act his way out of so many doubtful situations. He was one-of-a- kind, truly talented in this aspect.
Just then, Vince brought Vanya over. Joseph, not wanting to waste time on Noah, nodded at Desmond. "Sorry for troubling you today."
Desmond remained silent, a frown on his face. He then dismissed them with a curt wave. Noah extended his arms to stop them but Desmond smacked Noah on the head with a teapot.
"What are you doing? Why are you trying to keep such a dangerous person in our home?"
"Grandpa, you don't understand. Vanya knows a lot of secrets."
"So what? They have nothing to do with our family. Stop bringing up the past. Just spend the rest of your life well together with Coco."
It had been a long time since Desmond had asked about what was going on in the family. He had allowed the two youngsters to deal with the household affairs. During his free time, he would go on trips or go out drinking. He did not know there was another person living in his house. Even when he saw Vanya, he thought she was a friend and had not dwelled much on it. If he had known that Vanya was a former member of Duskfall, he would never have allowed her to stay under his roof.
He did not know when Noah had gotten so bold.
Noah was stunned. He had done what he had to. The question was whether Vanya would work for him or choose to be gotten rid of. He would not be at ease with such a huge threat at large. He hid the darkness in his eyes and stared at Joseph’s receding figure.
Desmond was frustrated over what had happened that night. He wondered how Noah could have harbored a member of Duskfall. Throwing the expensive teapot in his hand onto the table in a huff, he said. "Your grandfather named you ‘Noah’ because he wanted you to value care and comfort. He wished for you to lead a good life. I hope you won’t let him and me down."
