Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 688: Preparing to Go Home

Tina and Jared flipped over and when they looked again, the woman in red was nowhere to be seen. Tina wanted to go after her, but Jared grabbed her wrist, "Tina, don't chase her anymore. She hasn't shown her full strength yet." Even for Tina and Jared, it was only possible to match her evenly, and pursuing her further would likely lead to no real advantage. Moreover, their main purpose for coming to Alderanth was to rescue their friends, and now that they had succeeded, their mission was complete. However, they were still unclear why the mastermind had gone to such lengths to arrange all this. Tina looked in the direction where the woman in red had disappeared, her eyes clouded with uncertainty.

At that moment, on a nearby mountain peak, the woman in red stood looking down directly at them. Fortunately, she had brought some smoke bombs when she left home, which allowed her to briefly confuse their line of sight and escape right in front of them. After so many years, it was time for her to go home. She scoffed disdainfully, snapped her folding fan shut, and turned to leave.

"Wait for it, we'll meet again."

On the other side, Eric had fainted from fright during Philip's fight with the woman and was now awakened by an injection from Tina.

"Are you all okay?" Tina asked, looking at Philip and Griffin. Philip, holding his chest, replied, "Serena, we're fine."

He was merely wounded, but it was nothing serious. Griffin shook his head, indicating he was fine too. Eric's reaction was different; upon waking up and seeing familiar faces and realizing the woman in red was no longer there, he burst into tears.

"I was terrified, I almost lost my life..."

Philip, seeing his state, wanted to punch him but restrained himself because of Serena's presence.

"Did any of you see what she looks like under that mask?" Jack couldn't help asking. The woman had given him a strangely familiar feeling, as if they had met before. She even claimed she had held Tina as a child. This made Jack suspect that the woman in red was someone he had seen before. But after scouring his memory, he couldn't find any trace of her, nor could he think of anyone who matched her description.

"Uncle Jack, it's useless. The face under the mask is probably not her own."

These people were masters of disguise, daring to show their faces in public only because they would never reveal their true identities.

Philip stood up, "Serena, she mentioned Dorothy Russell. What's that about?" He had been sent by Serena on a solo mission, which included secretly investigating Dorothy Russell's whereabouts. It was humiliating for him to be captured before completing his task. Tina chuckled, looking at the person beside her, "Let's go home. It's time to wrap things up."

The three uncles, filled with questions, wondered why they were returning home without having done much. Did they really plan to stop pursuing the woman in red?

"Alright," Jared observed everything before him, the only variable being the woman in red. However, it wasn't entirely a variable, as things were still under their control, and some aspects were deliberately overlooked.

The three uncles, listening to their cryptic conversation, were on the verge of madness!

So, what exactly was their purpose in coming to Alderanth!?© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

Aside from showing off their affection, what else had they accomplished?

It seemed they were just going through the motions!

Tina and Jared: We can't be blamed for this!

Philip: You'll get used to it.

Though that was said, Tina still checked on the three of them. The move that the woman in red had used was eerily strange, something she had never seen before. Moreover, she could feel that the silver needles scattered from the woman's fan were coated with a potent poison. If they had been hit, even she would have needed some time to concoct an antidote.

Upon examination, aside from some superficial skin injuries, Philip had a broken rib, and Eric, frightened severely, was in a sorry state. Other than that, it seemed there were no serious issues.

While examining Eric, Tina suddenly asked, "Weren't you captured by the Five Poisons? Why are you here?"

This question seemed to strike a chord with Eric, who cried out, "I don't know what happened. My mother went bankrupt for that man, and my sister and I were left to fend for ourselves. Then I was captured, and she dumped me in a mental institution, forcing me to live among the mentally ill."

"I was nearly driven mad during that time. For some reason, she suddenly moved me to a nursing home, and then I was with Griffin. You all know what happened next." "Oh."

Tina's eyes were downcast, hiding her expression, "Do you want to come back with us?"

"Back!" Eric replied without hesitation.

Tina's seductive red lips slightly curved, and a meaningful look flashed in her eyes, "Okay!"

Outside, the rumble of a private plane was heard, and the three uncles looked out to see two small private planes.

Jared replied, "Uncles, Tina and I will go back first. After a day, someone will come to take you back."

Everyone: ???

Tina, seeing the puzzled looks, explained, "We need to go back first, there are some things we need to handle. You understand, uncles."

Only then did the uncles realize why Tina and Jared, despite knowing their location, had not rushed to rescue them or seemed anxious. They had other plans all along.

Tina no longer informed them about these matters, surely taught by that rascal Jared!

Yes, that must be it!

They suddenly remembered the matter of Tina and Jared's marriage certificate. They hadn't had the chance to settle accounts with Jared before he tricked their precious niece away. They couldn't possibly let this go so easily! "Jared, you haven't properly explained about tricking our Tina into getting the marriage certificate," the three uncles said in unison, ready to confront Jared.

Tina stood by, her eyes brimming with amusement, watching how Jared would handle this.
