Chapter 548 Learned to Be Fake

Chapter 548 Learned to Be Fake

Damien could pretty much guess what Bethany was up to.

Since she wanted to pursue Caleb, she had to win his mother over beforehand. This would bring her This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

eighty percent closer to her goal. And since she wanted to come over, this meant that Clarissa had to

be around. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be any reason for Bethany to come.

He had to admit, Bethany was a smart one.

Mrs. Faber answered the door.

When Bethany saw her, her eyes practically glowed. She dragged Mrs. Faber to one side and said,

“Mrs. Faber, Clarissa knows that she didn’t handle the issue with Caleb well, but she couldn’t think of a

way to patch things up with you, so she asked me to apologize on her behalf. Won’t you forgive her?

This is all Chanel’s fault—she was the one who pushed the blame on Caleb, and he couldn’t be

bothered to get back at her because he’s kind, you know? He’s just such an accountable and reliable

guy. I’m sure he’ll be able to do well in the army.”

Mrs. Faber glanced at Clarissa. Bethany’s words were nice to hear, and they helped alleviate her

resentment.

She already knew that Clarissa was a good person, and there was no way Clarissa could’ve made

Caleb join the army.

“Mrs. Faber, hurry, take these things.” Bethany took this opportunity to stuff the health products as well

as a shirt into Mrs. Faber’s arms.

“This…” Mrs. Faber was a little hesitant. These things were much too expensive.

“Look at this shirt. You’re the only one who can wear this! Why don’t you just go try it on first? If it really

doesn’t fit you, I’ll get it exchanged.”

Mrs. Faber finally nodded. “Okay.”

Bethany was rather pleased to see Mrs. Faber taking all the things she had given to her back to her

room.

She had bought the shirt for Mrs. Faber on purpose, and she even bought it in a larger size. This was

the only way she could exchange it and have a reason to come to the villa.

After that, she sat down next to Clarissa.

“It’d be great if you were based in Genovia. I’d have a reason to come over every weekend, then. Now

that you’re in Florin all the time, I have to wait till you’re here before I can come,” she muttered.

“I’ll leave you guys to it.” Damien went back to the bedroom.

“Look at what you’ve done! You even need me to pick up after you,” Bethany continued.

“What?” Clarissa asked.

“I told Mrs. Faber that I was apologizing on your behalf. Also, I made sure to buy that shirt in a larger

size so I’d have a reason to come back here.”

Clarissa thought about it. No wonder Bethany had said that this was killing two birds with one stone.

She helped to mend the relationship between Mrs. Faber and Clarissa while at the same time creating

an excuse for her to come back the next time.

Clarissa had never met someone as smart as Bethany before. She bet Caleb would fall for her sooner

or later.

“I don’t really have anything to do today, so why don’t we go out for a meal and ask Lily to come along?

It’s been a while since the three of us are together,” she said to Bethany.

“Sure! Wait for a second, though. I have to wait for Mrs. Faber to give the shirt back to me so I can

exchange it. By the way, aren’t you afraid I’ll seduce Damien when I keep coming over? Then again, he

should welcome me since I’ve helped you and Mrs. Faber patch things up.” Bethany linked arms with

Clarissa.

“What’s there to worry about? Let’s go out for lunch. It’s fattening to eat out at night.”

“Sure.”

“I’ll let Damien know.” Then, Clarissa called out, “Damien, Damien!”

He didn’t answer. Perhaps he didn’t hear her.

“Give me a second.” As she headed upstairs, she said, “You let Lily know.”

“I’m already on it.”

When Clarissa got upstairs, she found Damien lying on the sofa, looking leisurely.

“Bethany and I are meeting Lily for lunch. Do you want to join us?”

She knew very well he wouldn’t go. She had only asked to be polite.

Damien finally opened his eyes. “Since when have you learned to be so fake?”

“How is that being fake?”

“I won’t go. I have to say, though—you just came home, yet you’re going out for lunch with other

people. Is this house just a transit station to you?”

“I didn’t mean that. I was just afraid Mrs. Faber hadn’t prepared anything because I came back so

suddenly. And Bethany’s here, too. It’d be too troublesome for Mrs. Faber to cook. I’ll bring Neil along

with me so that you guys can have some peace and quiet, okay?”

“Go on.” He closed his eyes again. “Don’t bring Neil. He can’t take spicy food.”

Clarissa wondered whether he could read her mind. She had been planning on having something

spicy.

“I won’t bring Neil, then. I’m gonna go now, okay?”

Damien didn’t say anything else.
