Chapter 599 Three Days Ago
Chapter 599 Three Days Ago
Clarissa knew that Connie flew to Lotharia as her replacement. The fact that she returned meant Iris
was making her move.
“How did you know she’s here?” Clarissa asked.
“Caleb was the one who told me,” Bethany replied.
**
Three days ago.
Connie and Iris returned to the latter’s home in Lotharia.
By that time, Victor and the real Iris were already gone.
Connie and Iris each occupied a room. Helen was the only servant working in the house.
That morning, Connie woke up, only to discover that Iris’s room remained silent.
She knocked on the latter’s door, but received no response. So, Connie decided to enter Iris’s room.
It turned out that Iris was still sleeping.
Connie spotted tear tracks running down her cheeks.
It was Connie’s first time seeing Iris with tears adorning her face. Truthfully speaking, Connie was
shocked when she noticed the tears.
To think that such a powerful and domineering woman like Iris would succumb to tears one day…
Connie was afraid that Iris might get furious with her upon waking up, so she quickly slipped out of the
room quietly. Then, she went downstairs and entered the kitchen to prepare breakfast with Helen.
When Connie exited the kitchen, Iris had already gone downstairs and was sitting on a lounge chair in
a sunny area. She happened to be smoking while gazing at the distant horizon. It was as if she was in
a deep thought.
“Miss Benson, it’s time for breakfast,” Connie called out.
A long time had passed before Iris finally registered Connie’s words and slowly walked toward Connie.
Upon returning to the dining table, Iris returned to her usual demeanor. Once again, she was a cold-
blooded killing machine with a heart of stone.
“Connie, you have to return to Merania,” she ordered.
“What’s wrong?” Connie knew that she failed to help Iris achieve her goal after traveling to Lotharia
with her, which meant her own career was at stake. She still wanted to receive acting gigs in the future,
so she could only obey Iris’s orders.
“Do all you can to get close to Clarissa and convince her to tell you the password.” This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
“Even after I obtain the password, we still don’t have the key. What should we do about that?”
A cocky grin appeared on Iris’s face. “The key’s always been in my hands this whole time.”
“Okay. Got it.” Even though Connie had no idea why Iris had the key, she knew it wasn’t her place to
ask more questions. All she could do was serve as Iris’s lackey and carry out the latter’s orders.
Connie thought for a moment before speaking up. “I think if I coaxed Clarissa to tell me the password
for no reason, she wouldn’t tell me anything at all. Why don’t you create a fake key that looks identical
to the real one? I’ll tell her that I’ve obtained the key so that I can convince her to tell me the password
in exchange for a portion of the money. Typically speaking, Clarissa isn’t one who values money that
much. If she wants to withdraw the money, she’ll need my key to do so. I think she’ll agree to split the
inheritance with you.”
“I see you’ve become smarter. We’ll follow your plan,” Iris replied.
After that, she bought a flight ticket for Connie that was set for the flight back to Merania on the next
day. Soon, Connie received a fake key from Iris.
In the plane, Connie thought, ‘The situation now is that Iris has the key but not the password, whereas
Clarissa has the exact opposite. That means I’ll be able to obtain a lot of money no matter which party I
help out at the end of the day. Since I can help Iris, I’ll be able to help Clarissa too. If I could do a big
favor for Clarissa, she’d definitely give me a huge portion of the inheritance!’
It seemed Connie would have to butter Clarissa up in the future.
After getting off the plane, Connie sent a Whatsapp message to Caleb.
Connie: [Where are you? I want to visit you now. Send me your current location.]
Connie missed Caleb very much.
Soon, Caleb sent his location to Connie.
The place Caleb’s army was stationed at was located around an hour from Genovia.
After going through a long journey, Connie finally arrived at the army camp.
Coincidentally, Caleb had just received the package containing bone broth and chicken soup. Not only
was the sender anonymous, but the mailing address was also scrawled in intelligible writing.
