Chapter 44: Were Still Alive

Glen's POV

The school was already back to its normal condition since the damages was fixed and restored.

Everything turned back but the only thing that can't be brought back was the lives that were lost during

that incident.

Cries of pain can be heard inside the place as we all looked at the bodies of our classmates that were

lost.

I closed my eyes and hear the students', parents', friends', families', relatives' and even the teachers'

cries and sobs. It was so painful to watch that I couldn't hold my tears and they slowly slide down my

cheeks and drip on the floor.

(The message of their cries really struck me since I can somewhat understand what they are feeling

even though I didn't lose someone and that is exactly the reason...) I opened my eyes and glance at

Kaylee and I was surprised because she was looking at me while tears are sliding down in her eyes

too.

(Because I would be one of them if I didn't go and helped Kaylee, even though I didn't lose someone

but still I know the feeling of nearly losing someone right before you) I thought as I smile painfully at her

and she slowly wipes her eyes and look in front.

I suddenly felt that someone was looking at me and when I turn at my side, I saw my brother who was

looking at me.

I was caught off guard when I saw a worried expression in his eyes and I think that I owe him and

apology. He then looks away before I bow my head in shame and I then look in front and remember

something.

"Don't ever make us worry like that" my brother shouted in anger when I woke up.

He was showing an expression that made me feel guilty and at the same time hurt but still I'm trying to

understand where he is coming from since I know why he's mad.

Because if we didn't have gotten out of the smoke earlier then we might have didn't make it in time.

My brother is angry because I went inside the smoke and even thought my reason as to why I entered

is reasonable but still I understand him because he will not only lose a cousin but also a brother in case

something went wrong.

My parents manage to calm him down that moment and he did but one thing disappointed me was he

became a little distant from me and we haven't talked for this whole week.

(Yeah you heard me right. A week already passed after that incident happened and also one whole

week that I haven't exchange words with my brother) I mumble in my head while looking at the other

students in the room.

Every time that I will talk to him, he would find a way and manage to avoid me. But I didn't give up and

still, until now I haven't given up from talking to him.

(I already miss my brother, the one who is always there for me when I feel down. Even though I admit

that I really still don't know him entirely since I lived with our grandparents but still, I manage to know

parts of him when they come to visit us back then. I really hate this feeling) I ranted in my head while I

close my eyes try to calm myself.

(I know that he is hurt but still can't he also understand me. I tried all my best to talk to him but still he

always avoids me. I can no longer understand him. He is being selfish and this has to stop now) I said

determined before I open my eyes and find my resolve.

"I will talk to him after this, since this has to stop. He is already being selfish and stubborn" I mumble

and then I waited for the ceremony to end.

The ceremony ended perfectly and we are now eating on the cafeteria since the school has prepared

food for this occasion.

"So are you and Ace still haven't talked?" Kaylee ask me as I stab at the pork unconsciously.

I immediately groan and glare at the pork.

"Unfortunately, you are right. He still won't talk to me, I have begged and pleaded for him to talk to me

but still he is too stubborn enough that he won't budge" I protested while looking at her.

She gave me a sympathetic look and I just groan in annoyance while I turn and look at this person who

is in front of me. I eyed him and I really want to grab him and slam his head on the wall and maybe he

would return back.

"So why is he still tailing you and he is always near you for the past week" Kaylee whispered to me as

we stare at my brother who is silently eating just beside us.

I sigh in frustration and I look at my brother. I stare at him and I didn't even look away.

"What are you doing?" Kaylee said when I was staring at my brother for a couple of seconds now. I

then turn around and look at her before I pulled her near me.

"Come and help me. Let's try to read what is going on inside of his head maybe it might give us a clue

on how to make him budge" I said to her and she nods her head and we are now both staring at my

brother.

(Let's see if you still won't talk to me. I will keep on staring at you until you will talk to me even though it

will take me a million years I wo-nah. Million years... of course we'd be already dead and still that

million years wouldn't come) I thought while I saw him slowly getting uncomfortable and I think that this

pressuring would work since he was shifting in his seat while we both look at him.

He was about to give up--I think but suddenly his friend Mark came into view making us shift our gaze

to him and he flinched when we look at him.

"Easy I'm not here to fight anyone. I'm just here to eat with you" he said nervously and we both just nod

our head and look at my brother again.

"Come on and stop this. Seriously your all creeping me out" he said and we then look at him and he

immediately raise his hand in surrender.

I sighed and release a frustrated sigh before I look at my brother in annoyance. (What is he really made

off? Aren't my gaze intimidating just like Sir Tanner) I thought while looking at my brother.

(Why does it always work when I do it with his friend--) I then stare at Mark and he was glancing at me

every 5 seconds. He was shifting in his seat and you could really tell that he is really nervous. He

stopped looking at his food and he was slowly shifting close to my brother making me follow him still

and he was really nervous as heck.

I then let it go and look away and stare at my food.

(It always works but when I do it with my brother it won't even work. Well it nearly worked a while ago if

this guy didn't interrupt us) I sigh in frustration before I give up and I then focused my eyes on my food

before I look at Kaylee.

"So, by the way how is Ema?" I asked her and she just look at me in worry.

"She still hasn't entered school. I tried to contact her but it always went into voicemail" she stated and I

feel sorry for her since her reason was really serious, more serious that my brother problem.

"Well what can you expect? I admire her courage though" I said while I hear Kaylee agree with me.

"I guess so" she said and then when we were about to eat our food again, I hear Mark talked.

"I was really meaning to ask you but what really happened to your friend that it made her stay at home

and didn't came to class" he asked and we both immediately looked at him in curiosity making him

back off immediately.

"Why are you suddenly getting curious about her?" I said and he was taken aback by my question. I

suddenly realize something and I look at Kaylee in disbelief and I saw her sharing my expression too

making us both look at him in shock.

"Don't tell me that you like her" Kaylee said in excitement and he immediately push Kaylee's face away

from him since she went closer to him.

"How many times do I have to tell you, that I don't like your friend? You have been telling me that for

the couple of days now" he said in frustration while raising both of his hands and give us a pissed look

making us look at him and roll our eyes in disbelief.

"Oh, come on already and just admit it" Kaylee continued and we both chuckle when he bows his head

in defeat.

I then heard my brother chuckle so I glance at him secretly but he immediately caught me and masked

it with a serious face.

(I know that you already have forgiven me and I have too. It's just that you still want me to always come

and look for you. Aren't you already getting it, that I'm not dead and I am alive) I thought before going

back and glance at Mark and laugh at him because Kaylee continued to tease him.

(If you're asking me how come that we are with them then I will tell you. It's because of the incident that

had happened that the school temporarily stopped separating each year level and they just let the

students interact with each other. The board has already issued this because they found out that most

of those students who lost their lives was on the lower years and that was a huge mistake-)

(The lower years didn't have any seniors to protect them that time because their buildings were a little

bit far from the lower years. The building of the lower years was the one attacked that time and we

were just there because Sir Tanner had a class there and he didn't want himself to be the one getting

tired of jumping to the other building so he brought as here. My brother is already one of the seniors

here by the way--) I sigh and look around the cafeteria.

Lots of students are here since they merged the cafeteria of all the year levels. They also want that the

school will have a mentor and mentee program so that the seniors will have someone to take care in

case something will happen.

I groan a little bit when I thought about that since the thought of me trying to take care a kid sounds a

little bit nuisance for be but if he turns out to be handsome the- (Glen here you go again. They told us

to protect them not make them an eye candy) I scolded myself before chuckling at my thoughts while

looking back at my group.

"By the way when will they announce the mentor-mentee program?" I ask them curiously. Kaylee and

Mark looked at me with a confused look making me look at them in disbelief since they look like they

don't know what the heck I am talking making me groan at them in annoyance.

"You two really are a match since both of you share the same goal" I said in disappointment and they

still looked at me in confusion (And the same reaction time) before they immediate understood what I

said and both of them look at each in disgust.

"Come on she's not my type" Mark protested.

"He is ugly what makes you think we match each other" Kaylee protested.

(The same what in mind too) I said and I just look at them in amusement before I shake my head and

glance at my brother.

"I'll just ask you dear brother since I think that these too doesn't care about anything except to drool at

students passing by making me feel uncomfortable since they keep on looking at those poor kids" I

said to my brother and I saw him smirk before he covered it again.

"What are you talking about Glen?" Kaylee said wanting to stab me while Mark is looking at me with a

hurt expression.

"I'm not like that dude" he defended and I look at the two of them and then give them a bored look.

"If you both are telling the truth then when is the mentor-mentee program will commence?" I challenged

them and they were both trying to say something but nothing came out of their mouth making me smirk

and look at the two of them.

"Still going to argue with me, ehhh" I teased and they both groan in annoyance making me tease them

even more.

"Told you, you are a match" I said and they both glared at me in madness.

"Please don't rub in into our faces that you two might be already dating and I won't be even surprised

since as I say you're a-"

"Finish that sentence and I'll fucking slice your filthy tongue" Kaylee threated while holding the fork and

spoon in her hands at the same time glaring at me seriously making me immediately shut up and cover

my mouth.

(Geeezz, calm your tits down will yah. Hey, 'tell you a secret she can tolerate anything you say to

annoy her but one thing is what he doesn't like. If you tease her with a person that is not her type just

like what am I doing?)

I was nervous while she eyed me and I immediately shake my head because I don't want my precious

tongue to be chopped of my mouth. She then nods at me and then put the fork and spoon down before

she smiled at me that if I didn't know her smile looks like she is planning something dangerous and I

might be sharing the same expression as this boy just beside us.

I look at Mark and she was eyeing Kaylee with a hesitant and cautious movement like he was trying his

best not to be caught up with our argument. I saw him scooting over next to my brother making me

smirk before I look back at Kaylee who is still smiling at me creepily making me immediately shove the

piece of carrot at her mouth and she got startled and then glare at me before looking away and eat it

anyway.
