Chapter 16 Sweetheart
At the hospital.
In the office of the neurosurgery department.
Alan Canning sat in front of Edmond Agos and asked pitifully.
“Dr. Agos, can I… have my lunch box back?”
Edmond put down his phone and pushed back the lunch box he had just used for taking photos. He looked at Alan with a hint of curiosity.
"Did you eat chives because they can tonify your kidneys? "
Alan was stunned for a few seconds, and then his face turned red.
"It’s not like that. My girlfriend’s family sells fried Chinese leek dumplings for a living…”
Edmond nodded and said, "Good. It’s good for your health.”
Alan was embarrassed. Just as he was about to pick up the lunch box and leave, Edmond stopped him.
"How did you convince your girlfriend to bring lunch to you? "
"What? "
Alan paused, scratching his head and explaining with a smile.
"I didn’t ask her to do it. I am always busy working in the hospital, and my stomach aches because I don’t eat regularly. She feels bad for me, so she makes lunch herself and brings it over. "
Feels bad?
Makes lunch herself?
Before leaving, Alan reminded Edmond.
"By the way, Dr Agos. Last time I ate too much and gave you my lunch. Please keep it a secret. My girlfriend is coming to the hospital for a physical examination next Monday. If you run into her, please don’t tell her! "
Alan left.
Edmond turned his head with a serious expression.
He once again recalled the time when Eli Preston brought lunch to Alicia Casey and called her ‘sweetheart’.
How romantic.
Although their marriage was fake, and they agreed to not interfere with each other’s private life after getting married, Edmond felt somewhat annoyed and unhappy when he saw his wife being so close with another man.
After a moment of silence, he lowered his head and picked up his phone to make a call.

Alicia finished work late on Friday. She had planned to have a drink with Grace Florrick at the bar, but when she got in the car, her foster mom, Melissa Fox, called and asked her to come home.
Melissa had a brain tumor two years ago and underwent surgery, so she stayed in a senior apartment near the hospital to recover.
It was Edmond’s idea, and he also hired a caregiver to take care of Melissa.
Melissa was not young anymore, and she recovered slowly. Occasionally, she didn’t feel well and had to go to the hospital.
Alicia was worried about Melissa, so she didn’t even change her car and immediately drove her red Ferrari back home.
As soon as she got home, she saw Melissa sitting on the sofa and laughing happily, and Edmond was sitting next to her and peeling an orange. It was such a cheerful scene.
Alicia was stunned for several seconds, thinking that she was hallucinating.
"Alicia. You are back. Come. Edmond bought me a leg massager. It’s so comfy. "
She gave a sickly smile and walked over to sit down.
Edmond smiled nicely and handed over the peeled orange, "Try one. "
What the heck?
Alicia didn’t reach out to take it. Seeing her full of doubts and confusion, he handed the orange to Melissa.
"How’s the orange? "
"So sweet. Of course, it’s sweet. It’s from you. "
It was like they were mother and son.
Alicia really wanted to roll her eyes. Edmond didn’t even treat his own mother so nicely. He was definitely purposeful. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
However, seeing Melissa was in such a good mood, she didn’t want to say anything disappointing, so she asked with concern.
"Mom, have you had dinner yet? "
"I have. Have you? I left some dishes for you in the fridge. Take them out and heat them up. Go. You must be starving. "
Alicia nodded, stood up, and was about to go to the kitchen.
Unexpectedly, Edmond also stood up and followed her.
"Let me do it. Sweetheart. "
Alicia was startled when she heard it.
Sweet… heart?
