Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 497

Callum's heart finally eased, "Take care of yourself too. Don't stress about Mateo; I've got someone keeping an eye on him. Just reach out if you need anything."

"Okay."

On the other end, someone was calling out for Dr. Campbell.

Not wanting to take up his time, Selena said, "Dr. Campbell, I'm good now. You can get back to your work." With that, she hung up.

Hearing the busy tone, Callum chuckled softly to himself. For the past three years, he'd been there for Selena, but hadn't made any moves. For one, she was still healing from a heartbreak and wasn't ready for a new relationship. Plus, as a new mom, her world revolved around Mateo, leaving no space for anyone else.

Thankfully, as Mateo grew, Selena found some time for herself, got back into her career, and gradually moved past her old relationship, embracing a more hopeful outlook.

Callum had planned to tell her how he felt once his medical research wrapped up, but then her uncle's situation unexpectedly arose.

For some reason, an uneasy feeling lingered in his heart. He hoped it was just him overthinking...

That evening, Ricky came to take over. Even with a caregiver, Brook was emotionally fragile and couldn't sleep soundly without family nearby.

Selena lay in bed, restless. Besides asking Dr. Campbell for doctor recommendations, she was searching on her own. There were plenty of doctors who could perform the surgery, but none who could promise a positive outcome.

Outside, under the dim streetlight, a black Porsche Cayenne was parked at the curb, almost blending with the night.

Everett sat in the driver's seat, slowly lowering the window, watching the light from the room. He understood what was weighing on her.

Her vulnerabilities were always evident, never hidden. But if she allowed it, he could ease all her worries.

Everett lit a cigarette, leaning back, blowing out gentle rings of smoke. Maybe... Moon Bay would soon see its lady return...

The next morning, Selena received the doctor's details from Callum. Unlike before, there was only one name on the list, no alternatives.

Dr. Fernando, living up to his

formidable reputation, was a prodigy in the medical field. He had worked in Germany until a few years ago when a wealthy consortium backed him to set up his own medical studio back home.

This meant getting an appointment with him required personal

connections, not the usual route.

Thankfully, Callum had met him at

conferences and they had built mutual respect. He had already mentioned Selena's case, and Dr. Fernando had agreed to help.

Relieved, Selena called to set up a meeting to discuss her uncle's condition. But Dr. Fernando didn't pick up. After several tries, his phone was turned off.

Stunned, Selena gripped her phone

tightly. She went downstairs,

grabbed a quick breakfast, then headed out to the hospital. Just as she stepped out, a car pulled up beside her.

The rear window lowered, revealing Everett's striking profile.

His movements were smooth, a faint smile on his lips. Unlike the past few days, he was calm and collected, every bit the gentleman.noveldrama

His voice was deep and warm, "Hop in, I'll give you a ride."
