Chapter 53 Who Do You Think You Are
The dressing room had been small to begin with, and because of Matthew, the walls seemed to press inward. Right in Matthew’s face, Blanca yanked the clothes off her body.
It was an incredibly expensive and luxurious outfit. But to her, she never had any thoughts on things that weren’t hers.
She took it all off as quickly as she could and changed into her own clothes, caring not one whit that Matthew was seeing her bare body.
“Apologies Mr. Grant. I’ve caused you trouble. I’ll be leaving now.”
With one last bit of dignity propping her up, she handed the clothes to Matthew with both hands. Matthew had already calmed down. He looked at the shocked Blanca, his brow furrowing tightly.
He didn’t reach out to take it. Blanca set the clothes on the shelf right away and sprinted off like mad.
She bumped into something on the road and grunted.
“Ma’am, what’s going on…”
Lisa called with apparent confusion. It hurt when Blanca had run into her, but her lips kept curving up into a smile. If she hadn’t just so happened to go out and tell Mary to call Matthew here, this wouldn’t have happened at all.
Matthew looked in a daze at the clothes before him, his fingers, dangling by his side, curling tightly into a fist.
What… had he just said?
Damnit. He’d lost control.
As well-raised and well-groomed as he was, this was probably the only thing that would have caused him to lose his composure.
Seeing Matthew walk gloomily out of the dressing room with the outfit, Lisa let out a stunned cry, her face arranging into a mask of shock. “How is.. who brought that dress over?!”
Lisa demanded, and took a look at Mary. Mary was still happy about it all, and immediately said, “I’m sorry, Mr. Grant. I thought this outfit was needed today, but I just caught wind it was a sample that got thrown out in the last round…”
She looked hesitantly at Matthew.
Lisa had promised her already. So long as she did what she wanted, she’d protect her from now on in the office!
Matthew shot them a cold look. Curtis took the dress in shock, sputtering, “That’s… those are the late Ma’am’s clothes. I thought we put them away? Who…”
Curtis’ face grew dark.
Mary wanted to defend herself right away. These were the clothes from the brand last time, so how’d it end up as… Matthew’s mother’s clothes?
Lisa smirked.
She’d just switched out a similar piece from the brand to the real thing. Mary was going to have to take the fall this time.
“Mr. Grant, the Ma’am’s run out. Are we chasing after her?”NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
This time, “Ma’am” referred to Blanca.
Matthew’s eyes lost a bit of light. Her obstinate figure as she ran away still echoing in his mind. Blanca had said that the one thing she hated most was being accused of something she didn’t do. She was an honest girl, and couldn’t have known how important those clothes were…
Matthew clenched his fist and loosened it. He’d gone too far back there.
