Chapter 28

The weather in Nevada was quite chilly when Nathan’s private jet landed at the hangar. It was the wee hours of the morning and as usual, Nathan was well prepared, getting the right attire suitable for the weather for himself and Mercedes.

However, when they got to Legend mines, the manager on duty helped them change into safety clothes before entering the mining areas. Nathan scrutinized the working conditions of the miners and when he was satisfied with everything, he had a meeting with the manager and supervisors, wherein he introduced Mercedes to them

Right there and then, Nathan purchased Minerals for his company and made transfers for the payment. Mercedes realized that he was honest in all his dealings. Whatever price they sold minerals to the outside market, he bought at the same price for his company without any special discount. They ended up spending up to seven hours in all. Due to the work pressure, they hadn’t had time to eat and once again, Nathan had made every communication go through Mercedes.

Another realization dawned on Mercedes that the trip was in fact, purely business, especially after Nathan took her through his work diary for the one week. Hence, she couldn’t help asking when they got back into the private jet. This trip is purely business so why did you have to pay me to come along? It’s part of my job description to accompany you on business trips. They had just been served their meals.

As usual, it was quite rare for Nathan to give a straightforward answer unless it was extremely necessary. “Would you have wholly given yourself to me if I had just brought you in the name of business?”

Once again! Mercedes knew her answer would be unpleasant to him and stayed mute. She was about to dig into her food when she heard his deep voice. “Did you forget something?” She instantly stood up and sat on his lap, Irrespective of how hungry he was, he fed her before feeding himself. When they were done, Mercedes was amazed when he pulled out his laptop. She thought he was going to work for some time before he got to the second part of the business so she lid on the convertible bed and waited for him but when he took so long, she dozed off

Their trips to Alaska, Colorado and Arizona were just as stressful as that of Nevada, which brought them to the fifth day. They flew back to Califomu from Arizona and had to make it in time for a business dinner.

Throughout their business in those three states, Nathan hadn’t touched Mercedes intimately, which wowed her but in a sense, she was grateful because they had so much official work to do, which left them exhausted.

Nathan had picked a long sexy black backless dress for Mercedes, which made the latter gape, as to whether he was going to sell her. Nathan’s reason, which he kept to himself, was to use her to confuse his business partners and if they tried to hit on her, then they would be in for war.

“We have to get a professional to do your hair and make–up,” he said thoughtfully,

“But there isn’t much time. Mercedes was right. The event was just in an hour and a half and driving there was at least an hour’s journey.

“I have a plan,” Nathan said when he opened the door for Mercedes to sit in the SUV arranged for him. He didn’t drive straight to the event beauty parlour. It looked expensive but also ready to close when Nathan walked in with Mercedes.

“Sorry sir, ma’am, we’ve clothe attendant was about to say when a domineering voice sounded behind her.

Who said so, we just opened, Mr Legend, how can I be of help?” A woman in her early thirties welcomed them with a blooming smile. She was indeed about to close but she couldn’t offend a man as powerful as Nathan Legend

The attendant bowed respectfully in fear at the name of Nathan. He had heard so much about him and didn’t believe he could walk to their beauty parlour with a woman at that.

“Hair and facials, we only have thirty minutes, Nathan spoke casually but the woman instantly got to work. She couldn’t exceed the time and worked at a fast speed, washing, blow-drying, and styling Mercedes hair. When she finished, she did her make–up while Nathan gave instructions here and there. He seemed to already have an image of the look he wanted Mercedes to carry tonight. The woman finished in twenty–nine minutes, thirty seconds.

The corner of Nathan’s lips thinned with satisfaction when he saw the transformation. Halfway through the process, he had been on his iPad, carefully trusting the woman to continue from the cues and suggestions he gave. “Good,” he said, offering the woman his black card. “Quadruple the fee as my apology for keeping you overtime”

The woman was stunned. She hadn’t expected Nathan to give such a huge tip. Everyone knew he was the devil but she was seeing his fair side. He compensated for the extra time without her asking. “Thank you, Mr Legend, she gasped, swiping the card instantly before returning it to him.

Mercedes was not only getting comfortable with Nathan but also admiring him to the max. Little did she know that Nathan was changing because of her. He was doing things he’s never done before, all because of her. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

He drove to the lavish hotel where the business dinner was being hosted, handed the key to the valet and walked in with Mercedes. The hall was glamorously lit, with expensive chandeliers lighting it. With the size of the hall, it would be considered an over–expenditure as the people it hosted amounted to only fifty. Every rye turned in their direction but they weren’t on Nathan, rather his assistant.

Chapter 29

The slit of Mercedes black dress was above her right thigh. The frontage cleaved to her firm breast since the front was a V–neck. Her long black hair covered her shoulder but her back was exposed.

Tiny diamonds were glimmering all over the flowy dress that made it fair to give her the complement of an idol. Seeing lustful gazes on her made Nathan cage her protectively in his arms. His palms grazed the exposed part of her back that sent shivers through her, just as she lost her senses in his strong seductive scent.

Those who hadn’t heard of Nathan’s first female assistant thought that perhaps, she was his fiance. When Nathan got to the long dining table, everyone stood and bowed slightly as a form of respect, while he pulled a chair for Mercedes, making sure she was comfortable before pulling one for himself.

Mercedes had gotten accustomed to the unusual gazes that followed her every time she found herself in Nathan’s company but was a bit disturbed when she saw a familiar face.

She hadn’t tasted any alcohol to attribute the presence to hallucination. Yet, it was practically impossible. She couldn’t help staring uncouthly at Penelope and Mr Hayes. The most shocking truth was, Penelope was wearing a diamond ring and from the looks of it, she was engaged to Mr Hayes.
