Mr. President’s 50

Chapter 50

“What is that?” Nathan asked seriously. If it was within his power, he would fulfil her promise.

Make sure he rots in prison for all he put me through. When he found out I was pregnant, he started acting all nice, when in actual fact, every drink he gave me was spiked with something to make me miscarry. Please let him pay. One more thing. It was the same means they used to make Sarah miscarry, thrice till she got tired and got her tubes tied. He works well with Betty.”

Nathan was horrified at the revelation. His father had been drinking and dining with enemies he thought were his friends but he couldn’t feel pity for his dad. Rather, he felt sorry for Clarisse and Sarah. He would make Luke and Betty pay. “Thanks for telling me. I will still do as I want for you to be comfortable,” he said and left.

He was broken by the time he got back to the penthouse and it was getting late but he drove them to the mansion he had arranged. Having Sarah with him proved worthwhile. She got the location right and put the house in order within a short space of time. She only got two maids, for now, to take care of the cleaning since the house had twelve bedrooms in all. She wanted to get a seven–bedroom but Nathan insisted on twelve. Perhaps he was arranging for his five unborn children. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

Mercedes fell in love with the mansion as soon as she got there. It had a vast compound, grassed and beautified with lawns. Since it was late, she couldn’t tour the house yet. There were security men at the gate, who registered the name and appearance of their employers.

The first thing that hit them when they got to the living room was the aroma of mac and cheese. The vapour was still oozing out when Sarah ushered them to the dining room.

Oliver wasn’t used to this and he didn’t know if it was right but he asked, “can I do something? Promise not to get angry, madam and Nathan. Both Nathan and Sarah chuckled because he hadn’t made an introduction yet. “Go ahead,” Nathan encouraged. The few days he spent with Oliver, he discerned he wouldn’t do anything ridiculous but Sarah couldn’t help glaring in shock, and so were the maids when Oliver began moving the food close to the large window facing the garden.

The mansion was too extravagant for him. He loved simplicity but he had to adjust Nathan’s style. Even so, he couldn’t bury the memory of his father. Nathan smiled sadly at his action. He had experienced it throughout the time he spent with them. He also recalled Mercedes did the same at the beach house. She was shedding tears through smiles as did her mum. It was their father’s legacy. Sarah had never experienced anything like it but she loved it as soon as her butt touched the polished wooden floor. Mercedes was uncomfortable with Sarah being all over her but after Nathan did the introduction, she shed happy tears.

“Meet Sarah, my mum.”

Sarah smiled admiringly at Mercedes, discerning her shocked expression. “Don’t be surprised, I’m his stepmom but he chooses to call me mum. You are just as beautiful as I thought and so is your mum,” Sarah honestly said.

“Hey, what about me? I’m the best looking among them all,” Oliver exclaimed, earning giggles and chuckles of laughter. Their first day in the mansion was a memorable one. They were acquainted with each other as they ate and drank like one big family.

Sarah’s excitement was short–lived when she received a call after dinner. She was cramming her desert when she answered the phone. Nathan watched her attentively throughout her time on the phone and said,

“Tell me.” He knew it was his dad. No other man would call Sarah at this time of the night. She was a decent woman.

Sarah didn’t know whether to say it in front of everyone but if Nathan asked in front of them, then it was okay. “He wants us to have dinner with you and Mercedes. He has made a final decision,” she swallowed and said, holding her phone to her chest.

Nathan was aghast. He knew Jane had moved to the villa and wasn’t ready to be near there, twenty meters away. “I’m not taking her close to that house.”

“Why?” Sarah was concerned. She wanted closure on everything as well. She was ready to forgive Alexander but that would only be after he came back to his right senses.

“Because of Jane. She is trouble,” Nathan revealed. He didn’t want to tell Sarah about Betty yet. He wanted to have her and Luke arrested together. His style of doing things was always unpredictable.

“I will be there to protect Mercedes from her,” Sarah vouched. Sensing that the topic involved his sister, Oliver tactfully stood up, yanking his mother along, as they strode around the mansion.

“No,” Nathan was adamant but Mercedes was smiling internally. Oh, she wanted to meet Jane again. At least she had a weapon. Her voice was gentle as she spoke,

“Nat, you should ask for my opinion.”

“Which is?” Nathan asked hysterically.

Chapter 50

I’m coming with you,” Mercedes said firmly, amusement cruising her tongue.

At Mr Hayes Estate, in his bedroom.

Penelope had an aggrieved look on her face while Daniel Hayes was panting and sweating profusely. “Is that all?she nagged. All the luxuries around her didn’t seem luxurious anymore. She felt tormented instead.

Daniel frowned, his breathing still heavy, while Penelope was as cold as ice. “What are you talking about?” Daniel had given his best shot tonight and was looking forward to being complimented.

It’s been three months and there is no improvement,” Penelope snapped, bruising his ego. Marriage is like a parcel. Everyone has different expectations stepping into it. Along the way, some expectations are met but others aren’t.

“But I did great today. You should congratulate me,” he forced a smile and tried to caress her naked breast. Penelope flinched, pushing his hand

away.

You call thirty seconds great? Dan, you are outrageous,” she stood up, draping a towel robe around her naked form. She missed Griffin. She missed the attention he gave her. She missed how he cooked for her, satisfied her desires and was always at her beck and call. She missed the naughty times they had together but she couldn’t get all that from Daniel. Suddenly, money felt like paper to her. It brought no joy, no satisfaction, leaving her to run to the bathroom to masturbate to have her release.

“What are you? A sex maniac? I thought you were decent when I married you,” Daniel was getting agitated.

Penelope turned to face him. “Well the last guy I dated could go for at least an hour.”

Embarrassment scrubbed Daniel, turning him chagrin but he was also furious. No man would want his ego trashed. For as long as he was concerned, he was doing a great job and Penelope needed help. “You ingrate. After I took you from nothing to give you everything, you compare me to your ex? If he was good enough for you, then why did you marry me?”

Penelope was saddened. She felt that Daniel needed help. Aside from the guys she dated before Griff, they could go for up to thirty minutes but Griff was exceptional. Now, she signed a thirty seconds contract and she couldn’t endure it. “I can’t continue like this. I’m sex–deprived!” She yelled and was about to run to the bathroom when Daniel Hayes retorted,

“You know what I think? You are mentally deprived. Your brain cells lack nutrition,” he spat out carelessly and turned to sleep while Penelope sorrowfully and heavily walked to the bathroom.

Betty has been delighted that Sarah left Alexander. Now, nothing was standing between them. She went to meet Alexander in the villa, with the hope that things would escalate between them to the next level. If that happened, then Nathan would be free to marry whomever he chose. Alexander had other plans. He had no intention of leaving his wife, which didn’t sink well with Betty.

They sat in the garden chair, but their minds were far from the beauty of the flowers surrounding them. “She left you, choosing her stepson over you and you still want her?” Betty couldn’t believe this was happening to her after all the sacrifices and discreet things she did to be close to him.

Alexander was only thinking of his wife. He loved his son too and if his wife, who was his son’s stepmother, loved his son so much to sacrifice her marriage for him, then she was a gem. A rare one at that and he wasn’t ready to lose her. “I was the one who hurt her,” remorse laced his voice as he spoke but Betty was hurting real bad, tears streamed down her cheeks. Even if Alex saw it, he pretended not to.

“What about me? I thought we had something beautiful?” Her glistening gaze bored into his. Alex felt somewhat sorry for her but right now, all he cared for was his wife. Love was a strong tool. Even when betrayed, it screamed from the heart. A man might have affairs with women without engaging his heart but most times, women mistook intimacy for love and that was Betty’s problem. She thought the only thing separating her from Alex was Sarah and tried every means for her to not have a child, so Alex wouldn’t pay much attention to her but the truth was, Sarah possessed Alex’s heart. No matter how he betrayed her, he was ready to make amends and change for the better.

I’m sorry Betty but I love my wife.”

Betty was shattered and was a crying mess. “So what am I then?” Her voice swam in tears, her eyes blurred.

“I never promised to marry you did I?” Alex asked without looking at her. He was only thinking about how to get his Sarah back. A good woman was always like the rain. No matter how much we convinced ourselves that we could do without them, their absence caused drought.

Betty was extremely agitated. Her soft pleas were thrown in the trench so she had to change her style. “You monster. So you were just using me!” She yelled.

It was Alexs turn to sound agitated. He stared at her coldly, “I never forced myself on you.” It was a sinful affair they both enjoyed and Betty understood quite well. She was nothing to him but the knife on the side of the bread. Till the butter or jam was needed, there was no use for the knife.

Chapter 50

Alex didn’t expect it when a slap landed on his face. He endured it coolly. After all, he deserved it. Betty stared coldly at him and said,

“I hate you!” She stormed out of the villa without looking back.
