My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0357

Chapter 0357

Angela was stunned, a moment of confusion flickering across her face. "Darius's father?" She shook her head. "Most of us don’t know much about Darius's family matters. I doubt Ella knows either, but judging by his character, I imagine his family situation isn't great."

Ella.

Although Candice's expression remained unchanged, memories began to stir in her mind. Apart from Angela, Jackson had also mentioned this name. He had even asked her to help look after this girl named Ella after knowing she was coming to Solaris.

And this Ella, was Darius's girlfriend?

Candice frowned harder and harder, feeling like everything was tangled up into a mess, impossible to make sense of.

"Are you interested in Darius?" Angela asked. She paused for a moment. "Your surname is Renault, and so is his. Could you two be relatives or something? Holy shit." Angela couldn’t help but curse.

Candice responded calmly. "You're overthinking. I don't know him." She just needed to confirm one thing.

Angela didn’t care much either and nodded. "Do you want to meet him? If you do, come with me tonight to hang out. Ella will be there, as well as Solomon. I reckon Darius will probably be there too."

Initially hesitant, Candice agreed after a brief thought. Some things were better clarified sooner rather than later, to avoid lingering doubts.

-

When they talked about "hanging out," they meant going to a famous street of bars in Solaris. Following Angela inside, the first thing Candice saw was a slender, fair-skinned girl in a navy-blue dress, standing there like a doll.

"Ella," Angela called, leading Candice over. "Let me introduce you. This is the beautiful lady I told you about. Isn't she imposing?"

Bella looked at Candice with a friendly smile. "Hello, I'm Bella Quimby, Angie's best friend." Her voice was clean and crisp, with a similar gentleness to Angela's tone.

Candice recognized her. Bella was the girl she had encountered in the restroom the day before. But Bella probably did not recognize her. Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Candice smiled and said, "It's a bit coincidental. I'm friends with Jackson. When I came to Solaris, he asked me to come and see you."

Upon hearing Jackson's name, Bella's smile grew wider. "So, you're the very capable friend Jackson mentioned. He told me that a friend would be coming."

Candice smiled and was about to speak when she heard the sound of the private room door opening. Looking up, she saw three figures enter. The leader, wearing a floral print shirt, appeared relaxed, but his face bore some resemblance to Bella. It was Solomon, Bella's second elder brother.

Behind him were two people. One was Darius, and the other was Alex.

The moment Candice's gaze met Alex's, she quickly withdrew it.

She heard Solomon's hearty voice. "Go all out. Today, it's on me. Mr. Elysian, you were hospitable to me the last time in Dorrington. This time in Solaris, although you did not actively seek me out, I'll still uphold the hospitality that should be extended by the one who lives locally," Solomon said somewhat sarcastically.

Alex nodded faintly. "Mr. Quimby, you are too kind."

Solomon then turned to Darius, picked up the glass on the table, took a sip, and said, "Mr. Renault is truly impressive now."

Darius did not respond. His gaze lingered on Candice sitting beside him for a moment before he let out a faint, ambiguous chuckle.

Meeting his gaze, Candice raised her face slightly, showing no avoidance.

However, a sudden shadow fell beside her. Alex's clean and cold scent of cedarwood, amidst the somewhat chaotic atmosphere of the bar, brought a sense of comfort to Candice. She couldn’t help but glance sideways and coincidentally caught Alex averting his gaze. "Darius's girlfriend is here." His voice was low, almost a whisper, and with the other people in the private room chatting, Candice could not quite make out what he said.

She looked up at him. "What did you just say?"

Alex glanced at her, then suddenly leaned in closer, lowering his voice as he repeated near her ear. "Darius's girlfriend is Bella Quimby." He leaned in very close, his figure almost enveloping Candice.

A hint of displeasure flashed across Candice's face. She wanted to distance herself from him, but Alex had already retreated.

Suppressing her emotions, Candice said without much change in her tone. "What does his girlfriend have to do with me?"

Alex was about to respond when Solomon suddenly interjected with an exclamation. His gaze fell on Candice's face, and after a moment of contemplation, he said, "I've seen you before."

Candice nodded casually. "During the time in Dorrington."

Solomon squinted at Candice, then turned his gaze to Darius, and then chuckled.

"Ella," Solomon grinned as he looked at Bella. "Don't you think Darius and this beautiful lady resemble each other?"

Not only Bella, but everyone else in the private room were also stunned.

Angela regained her senses. "You know what, they even share the surname 'Renault'—"

"Mr. Quimby." Alex interrupted Angela. He lifted his glass in front of him, expressionless, and said, "I heard that you have recently closed a good deal in the coastal area. Congratulations."

Solomon raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Elysian is well-informed."

With Alex shifting the topic in such a way, no one mentioned the resemblance between Candice and Darius anymore.

Although Candice did not know why, she could tell that Alex had deliberately diverted the conversation just now. It seemed like he didn’t want others to mention any connection between her and Darius.

Feeling unsettled, Candice looked up to study Alex.

Seemingly aware of her gaze, Alex smiled, clinked glasses with Solomon again, and while pouring another round of drinks, he murmured without any fluctuation in his emotion, "Let me remind you one last time, getting involved with Darius is not a good idea."

Candice paused, suddenly realizing something. Alex had been using various means from the beginning to prevent her from contacting Darius. And if even Jackson and Solomon could see the resemblance between her and Darius, how could Alex possibly not notice it? So—

Perhaps Alex had known about the relationship between her and Darius all along? The sudden realization sent a shiver down Candice's spine.

She pursed her lips and stood up, and spoke softly. "I'll go to the restroom for a moment."

Candice calmed down in the restroom for quite some time before coming out. However, she still could not understand why Alex would act this way. Once she had calmed her emotions, she planned to go return and ask Alex.

But as soon as she turned the corner, she saw a figure standing there, seemingly waiting for her.

He was tall and slender, with slightly long black hair that subdued his sharpness, giving him a somewhat gentle appearance.

It was Darius.
