My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0371

Chapter 0371

Candice watched as Henry embraced Hailey and entered the hotel. She was standing near the entrance, and if Henry had turned around, he could have easily spotted her.

But he was too busy chatting with Hailey, and Candice watched as a doting smile crept onto his handsome profile, ending with him kissing Hailey on her right cheek.

Candice looked away and felt nauseous.

"You're right on time."

The nauseating feeling hadn't subsided yet when a cold, indifferent voice sounded beside her.

Candice turned around to see Darius getting out of a black Bentley. He must have just come from the company, still dressed in formal attire, with his hair neatly combed back, erasing any trace of childishness.

She didn't know when he had arrived, but she subconsciously felt that Darius must have also seen Henry and Hailey. There was no change in his expression nor emotions in his eyes, however.

The moment Candice met his gaze, a thought flashed through her mind. She asked Darius in a low voice, "Did you intentionally arrange to meet here because of that?"

Darius glanced at her. "Why would you say that?"

He showed no intention of refuting her words. After being scrutinized by Candice's probing gaze for a moment, he remained unruffled and proceeded calmly to the sixteenth floor.

She followed him without saying a word.

They arrived at a large private room. It was spacious, similar to the one Alex had booked last time, with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the scenery of the riverside.

Candice glanced at Darius for a moment before hearing him speak. "Do you know how old Hailey is?"

Candice looked up. Although Hailey had makeup on her face, she didn't seem very mature.

"If I remember correctly, she should be nineteen."

Candice's eyebrows furrowed imperceptibly. She knew Hailey was young, but she hadn't realized she was only nineteen.

A deep emotion flashed in her eyes, and she suppressed the discomfort. She asked Darius, "So, did you intentionally want me to see them together?"

He didn't deny it but continued. "Before her, there were countless Haileys."

"What exactly do you want to say—?" Candice maintained her composure, but as she listened to his indifferent words, her emotions surged layer by layer.

Darius calmly poured two glasses of water and then pushed one toward her.

He looked at her with eyes as deep as a cold pond, devoid of any emotion. A faint curve formed at the corner of his thin lips. "I know you and Alex are investigating me."

Candice's eyes shifted.

Darius's voice remained steady. "I erased Henry's traces. You can go back and tell him not to waste any more effort."

"Why are you telling me this?" Candice became more alert. Her back straightened, and her face remained calm, but she felt uneasy inside.

Although his topics all revolved around Henry, she knew this wasn't his intention.

As her words trailed off, Darius chuckled lightly, his tone casual, but his eyes were filled with disgust as he looked at the dazzling lights on the riverside outside.

"Do you want to know what's happening in the next private room?" He asked without answering, and at that moment, the disdain on his face overwhelmed the light in his eyes.

Candice had a bad feeling about this.

Darius, whose face bore some resemblance to hers, showed no expression at all. He directly placed his phone in front of her, and a video started playing on it.

After just one glance, she quickly averted her gaze.

In a similarly decorated private room, several middle-aged men sat around, with Henry facing the camera. He lowered his head and passionately kissed a girl.

As the scene fast-forwarded, the sounds of sordid entanglement emerged.

Candice's face turned pale as she directly placed her phone upside down on the table, then covered her mouth and retched.

It was disgusting.

However, she couldn't help but see the infatuated and passionate look on Henry's face and his hand on the girl's back.

Previously, when she had heard Yvonne say that Henry was having affairs, and even when she had seen him with Hailey at the hospital, she hadn't felt so upset.

After all, deep down, she still believed that he was her father. The father who would always cherish her like a princess in her fantasies.

So, even though she repeatedly told herself that Henry had long abandoned her, she couldn't help but recall the scene of him calling her name while letting her sit on his shoulders when she was a child.

She had always imagined that things couldn't be so bad.

But now, seeing Henry in the video, Candice felt indescribably nauseous.

She took a deep breath to calm herself down and looked at Darius, wanting to question him, but no sound came out of her throat.

It felt dry and tight.

Darius observed her expression, a hint of mockery flashing in his eyes. He tapped the table with his fingers. "Can't stand it?" He sneered. "Well, who would want to have any relationship with such a disgusting person, right? Sister?"

The word "sister" was bitten off clearly and heavily by Darius, causing Candice's back to break out in a cold sweat. She had seen a fleeting malevolence in his eyes.

In an instant, her mind quickly flashed through a heap of information, all of which merged together in the end, leading her to the conclusion that Darius was reminding her. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.

Reminding her not to disclose the relationship between him and Henry.

Darius had never concealed his hatred for Henry, and Candice recalled what Angela had said before, that nobody knew about Darius's family situation.

So, he cared a lot about Henry's presence.

He didn't even want others to know that they had any relationship.

'But who exactly was Darius trying to hide it from? Or did he simply want to distance himself from Henry? But regardless, if he wanted to distance himself, he shouldn't have any contact with me… What exactly did Darius want to do?' she thought to herself.

Candice closed her eyes, feeling a bit overwhelmed. She looked deeply at Darius.

He played with the cup of tea in his hand and felt Candice's gaze. Without evading, he looked up at her.

When Candice left, she passed by the adjacent private room, which was tightly closed. Thinking of the video Darius had shown her just now, she couldn't help but frown.

By the time she returned to her hotel, it was already 8 o'clock. Candice felt a bit dazed after getting out of the car, and Darius's matter was like a time bomb, that might go off at any moment.

She walked back with a heavy heart. However, at the elevator, she ran into Sawyer, who was hurrying downstairs.

Seeing Candice, he paused and frowned. "Candice, where have you been? Why didn't you answer my calls?"

She stopped and asked, "Is there something you need from me?"

"Yeah, Mr. Elysian has a fever."
