Chapter 80
Read My Past is Just Prologue By Louisa Dillon Chapter 80 – The Truth about the Miscarriage
“Why… why did you suddenly ask this?”
Winifred froze for three seconds and said in a daze, “Janet was definitely not pregnant. At that time you
asked me to take care of her, so I came to do it, but she looked fine.”
“Normally, when a mother aborts a baby, she must be very sad. Janet didn’t. And most people can’t get
out of bed after a miscarriage. She was discharged from the hospital the next day. Was this normal?”
Quintina was at the side. Seeing Nathaniel suddenly ask about this thing, her expression was a little
strange.
Nathaniel pressed his temple, “Since you went to take care of her, didn’t you see the case report issued
by the hospital, or did you not ask the doctor about her specific situation?”
“About this…”
Winifred couldn’t answer this question.
“It’s been so long. How can we still remember it clearly? Nathaniel, are you doubting us?” Quintina
yelled from the side.
“So, you didn’t know the truth and affirmed that Janet was a fake pregnancy?”
As Nathaniel said these words, the image of Janet red-eyed as she accused him was right in front of
his eyes, and he couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.
Seeing Nathaniel’s suspicious expression, Winifred said a little unhappily, “Nathaniel, even if I didn’t
like Janet, the baby in her belly belonged to our Webster family. He was my own grandson. How could I
joke about the baby?”
“That’s right, Nathaniel. Why do you suddenly ask about this? Is it because Janet is speaking ill of us
again?”
Winifred and Quintina were making a noise, which made Nathaniel feel a headache.
“Well, I just remembered it suddenly and asked casually. If you don’t know, forget it. I’ve got to go now.
I will ask the driver to take you home later.”
Nathaniel didn’t continue to dwell on this thing. Anyway, with Alfred’s ability, he should soon get the
results from the
hospital.
Ever since what happened to Anastasia, Nathaniel would no longer believe a one-sided version of a
story easily.
“OK..”
After watching Nathaniel leave, Winifred turned around nervously and grabbed Quintina’s hand.
“Quintina, why did your brother suddenly bring up Janet’s miscarriage back then? Did that bitch Janet
tell him something secretly?”
Seeing Winifred’s nervous look, Quintina didn’t dare to look directly into her eyes, and then she looked
away evasively. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
“Who knows? It’s inexplicable. Were you talking about Nathaniel’s wedding? Why were you talking
about Janet’s pregnancy and miscarriage again?”
After all, Quintina was brought up by Winifred’s side. Because Nathaniel was questioning her so
suddenly, she was a little caught off guard.
But now, she immediately realized that Quintina was changing the subject.
Back then, Winifred hated Janet. When she received a call from Nathaniel, she didn’t want to go at all.
Quintina said she would go instead of Winifred.
Quintina told her that Janet had gotten out of bed soon after the miscarriage.
“Couldn’t Janet really have been pregnant back then?” Winifred stared at Quintina with wide eyes,
“What was it like when you went to see her back then? Was she really…”
“Mom, you doubt me. How can you trust Janet but not trust me?”
Quintina yelled loudly as if someone had stepped on her sore feet.
“I’m sure Janet wasn’t pregnant back then. So what if Janet is from a wealthy family? There are so
many women from wealthy families. There are not many men like my brother who are successful in
their careers and have outstanding abilities. Those women say they’re pregnant to get a rich man. That
kind of thing happens in our circles too.”
“If she had thought of the reputation of the Longfellow Group, she would have been ashamed to do
such a thing. If she just wanted to marry Nathaniel without damaging the reputation of the Longfellow
Group, she’d done all she could.”
“She deliberately pretended to be a poor person to make us bully her. Maybe she thought that she
would recover her identity in the future, so she could blackmail us.”
Hearing what Quintina said, Winifred immediately felt that it made sense and nodded in agreement.
“It makes sense…
”
Seeing that Winifred was finally fooled by what she had said, Quintina secretly let out a long sigh of
relief.
Although her mother had always stuck up for her, Quintina couldn’t guarantee that if Winifred knew that
the woman really almost had a baby back then, and…
