My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2108

Chapter 2108

Hendrix's words struck a nerve, and I couldn't retort.

My paranoid and cautious self should not stop the children from what they want to do.

"Just think of the project as a test. If she does it well, maybe you can try being brave and let her do what she likes."

"To have you completely let go of things would be too difficult for you. So, try your best to relax and watch what happens. Anne is a great kid. She'll do nothing but impress you."

"Keep in mind that no matter how tricky things may turn out to be, I've got her back."

Rhythmic snores were heard soon after. Hendrix had fallen asleep.

His cuddles tamed my worried heart, but I barely slept all night. Since I couldn't get any sleep in, I got up early.

As soon as I opened the door, I saw Anne.

"Good morning, Mom." Anne's curved eyebrows and gentle appearance always reminded me of the celestial child with the halo above their head.

It was definitely not a motherly move to freak out over the child's dream. I smiled through the guilt and walked her down the stairs, asking her, "You don't have school today, why are you up so early?"

"Mom, you forgot that Dad appointed me to take charge of the Culture City project. I skimmed through some materials last night, but I couldn't get many references since this is the company's first time doing such a project. What's more, there are a few western cultural complications. To make sure everything goes well, I'm going to do some research in this aspect with Mr. Clark from today onwards. He said that it's impossible to get a good seat at the library if we get there late, especially on weekends."

Josiah was already waiting at the door when we arrived at the end of the flight of stairs.

Anne went straight to the door. "Mommy, I'll get going then. I won't be joining you all for lunch today."

"At least have some breakfast before you go?"

"It's alright, Mom. I'm not hungry. See you later."Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.

With that, she disappeared out the door. She didn't even look back.

I exchanged glances with Josiah, signaling for him to take care of Anne. He left after he took the hint.

The couple of steps to the dining table felt like an eternity. Stressing myself out over Anne's future made me jittery, but the truth was that she grew well. She had the abilities the responsibilities, and she was curious about the unknowns. She remained undefeated.

The corners of my mouth uncontrollably curled into a slight smile. The innocence of children crushed my beast-like emotions, resolving the crisis in my heart with ease.

I decided to support Anne's first business venture.

Hendrix said he wanted to test Anne's abilities, but he didn't mention that she couldn't ask for help. Furthermore, I wasn't an ignorant parent who would only dote on children.

"What's making you so happy?" Hendrix asked as he came down the stairs, the sounds of slippers and wooden floors rubbing against each other. "Don't you know how to read minds? Figure it out yourself."

Hendrix pulled the chair opposite me out and sat down. He did not get worked up at all and replied, "Well, it's probably the joy of my little girl growing up. Am I right?"

It seemed that he was aware that Anne had gone out early.

Without any sense of accomplishment, I rolled my eyes at him and said, "Wrong, I'm not telling you.

Eat your breakfast!"

In the following half a month, I could count the number of times I saw Anne with my fingers.

Hendrix had mentioned in the

beginning that he wanted Anne to independently take charge of the project. Knowing Anne's personality like the back of my hand, she would never come to me unless it was something she couldn't handle. Since she didn't mention anything about the project, I wouldn't ask about it to avoid pressuring her.

But wouldn't it seem as if I was mincing around if I were to worry about her?

It was as if Anne was not a fourteen- year- old anymore but a strong business woman with a successful career, and if I, as her parent, were to try to meddle in it, it gave me the sense that I was burdening her or dragging her down instead. Content

I fidgeted about it for a few days, thinking of a decent reason to visit her at her workplace. Right then, Freya called.

"Come on, shall we go witness the ability of your business prodigy?"
