My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2113

Chapter 2113

Since she did not seem like she was going to go on talking about this, I followed suit and left the topic as it had been.

With that, to satisfy Freya, I picked a red matching set, with a wide-bottomed skirt, with accessories that paired well with the theme of the costume. The ideal bride's look I had pictured in my mind.

I picked a normal phoenix cor that wasn't that expensive, but looked more expensive than it was.

However, something felt like it was just not sitting quite right with me.

Freya was finally willing to head back home after placing our orders.

The street was bustling with people and carriages. The pedestrians were dressed in western costumes, looking lively. The atmosphere in real life was quite unlike what we would usually see on TV.

Walking past an eatery, we were blocked by the large crowd and could only wait until the people evacuated.

After a while, we came across a sedan decorated with gold ornaments carried by eight men. They even had several special security guards escorting them. The sedan was carefully crafted with sophisticated details and everyone took their phones out to get a picture of it.

"If only I could ride in such a sedan when I get married, I won't have any regrets for the rest of my life."

"My, aren't you hard to please? This is not your average sedan. It's a special sedan that has at least seven types of wood incorporated in it. Don't even get me started on the intricate craving. I've seen pictures in magazines. These sedans are complicated to build. It took eleven masters and three full years to complete one. This is even decorated with gold embellishments. God only knows how much the total cost of this is, but one thing's for sure is that you won't have your chance at it. I have to say that the Roberts Group is breaking their bank for this Cultural City project."

"My eight-man sedan, my Prince Charming, when are you coming to marry me on your white horse..."

Every girl must have dreamt about their prince charming. Even though I had grown out of the ideals of love, it still brought a smile to my face.

In order to avoid prolonged exposure, the men holding up the sedan quickened their pace. In less than two minutes, the sedan disappeared at the corner of the intersection with many people still chasing after it. The next minute, the street quietened down.

"You should really learn how to spend money from Hendrix," Freya spoke all of a sudden.

"What does this have to do with him? Anne's the one who organized the Cultural City." I looked puzzled. She must still probably be thinking about my hesitance in spending money at the flagship store earlier.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

"Oh come on, you used to be the director of the Roberts Group. Have you forgotten that every transaction has to be confirmed by the President before it can be processed? If Hendrix didn't spend that money, how would there be such a magnificent bridal sedan?"

"True, but that's thanks to Anne's good taste," I stubbornly refuted.

Dimples formed on Freya's cheeks as she chuckled. "Touche. You do have a wonderful daughter. She must have spent tiresome days and nights on this project."

I turned over to the city tower and looked at Anne. She had a petite body, but the weight on her shoulders was unimaginable.

If we offered to help, she would never be willing to accept it.

Should I... treat her to a nice homemade meal?

"We better get going then. To the market!" I held onto Freya and headed straight to the market.

I hadn't cooked for a long time, so I had become unfamiliar with a lot of things. I planned to do everything on my own but could barely make it with Madeline by my side.

"Madeline, could you pass me some garlic? I've already plated the shrimps. Anne will be back once it's done cooking."

I reached my hand out to Madeline without looking and felt something pressing onto my palm. The next thing I knew, I was in Hendrix's embrace.

"Hendrix..." I pushed him away in disgust. "Stop messing around. Anne hasn't been eating well recently. I want to get a good meal ready for her before she returns."

As I spoke, I took the garlic paste from the table, turned around, and poured it on the prawns.

Hendrix leaned against the kitchen counter with crossed arms over his chest. Obviously, he was dissatisfied with my response. "I work very hard every day. Why don't you ever feel sorry for me?"

S

"You're not Anne. You enjoy your work, and she has outdone herself. Didn't you notice how much weight she lost? Remember to say something nice during dinner later. Give her some encouragement."

Hendrix squinted and chuckled. Who knew what he was up to?

Then, the wallet came to mind. After starting the fire, I turned to look at him and said with a solemn face, "Tell Evan's men to keep a close eye on the children. Today, I met a woman who's almost identical to me. Although I didn't meet her, I can't shake the feeling that things are more complicated than what they seem. Be careful. Better safe than sorry."

Hendrix gently nodded. "Got it."

Then, he asked as if nothing had happened, "What do you think about the Cultural City? Did you like it?"
