My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2130

Chapter 2130

When I walked out the gate, I saw Shirley standing at the side of the road.

She did not look down nor did she look too out of it. She wore a newly released product of a luxurious brand but with her pale and sunken face, she did seem slightly feeble and weak.

"Shirley." I stepped forward and lowered my voice without realizing it. It sounded as if I spoke somewhat louder, the woman in front of me would be destroyed in seconds. "Why won't you come in?"

I was happy, but in the face of Shirley, such joy would turn into cruelty. I couldn't confidently say that love would change someone for the better because I saw how lively Shirley had been before.

Perhaps only someone as sensitive as I was would always consider if my blissful life would be a burden on those who were not fortunate enough. Getting along with her as we had done in the past was the only thing I could do for her. We were both women. Why wouldn't I wish her a better life?

"No thanks." Shirley's face was as pale as a piece of white paper as she explained emotionlessly,

"Irvin is ill. He wants to see you."

As expected, a person's loved one would always be the one capable of destroying them. For Irvin, Shirley would sacrifice even her heart.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

In fact, I didn't think it was necessary to meet Irvin, but I couldn't pretend as if I hadn't heard anything. "Is it serious? What does he have?"

"You'll know when you get there." Shirley's voice remained monotonous as if she was here on official business.

With that, she turned and took out her car keys. After pressing the button, she went past the car and was ready to get into the driver's seat. When she opened the door, she realized that I remained unmoved from where I was.

"You won't come with me?" With her hand still on the door, Shirley frowned. After making sure that I was not the slightest affected by her words, she finally revealed some emotions on her face. "Ah, such is fate. He doesn't love me, and you don't love him..."

"Shirley..." I was at a loss for words.

"There's no need to feel pity for me." Noticing the hint of sympathy in my words, Shirley slammed the door shut with her face icy and looked at me with her gaze solemn, "But you should for Irvin. For a dying person, no matter what happened between the both of you, you shouldn't refuse his last wish. So, are you going to insist on not coming with me?"

"Is he going to die?" I was shocked. Irvin was very much alive and kicking not too long ago. Was it because of that car accident?

"Yes, and it's all thanks to you. If your wedding wasn't such big news, Irvin might be able to live on a few more days." Shirley fixed her frosty, chilling gaze on me.

When I looked into her eyes, I was afraid to learn whether she was truly hostile towards me, but the sarcasm in her words was evident, and she

didn't intend to hide it. Content

I sort of understood the ins and outs of the matter. Irvin was seriously ill, and had seen our wedding live broadcast. He got upset, and his situation plunged.

If that was the case, it was easy to understand why Shirley bore such great hostility towards me all of a sudden.

One thing Shirley said did make sense - no one could refuse a patient. After giving it some thought, I agreed and said, "I'll go with you."

I instructed the guard to inform Hendrix of my whereabouts then got in Shirley's car.

Soon, we arrived at the Second Military Region

Affiliated Hospital, which was the best tumor hospital domestically.

Outside the ward, Irvin's son and nanny sat on a row of chairs. They were much more energetic than Shirley, but still looked somewhat fatigued.

When there was a critically ill person in a family, no one could escape from the misery that came with it.
