My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2151

Chapter 2151

"We're back." I smiled as I said this. I then introduced the kids to each other. "This is Daniel, Auntie Shirley's son. He will be staying with us for the time being. Daniel, this is Anne."

"Hello, Anne," Daniel greeted earnestly.

"Nice to meet you." Anne replied courteously. "If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask me, alright?"

"Thank you, Anne."

After a very tiring night, I changed into my house slippers and entered the living room. I then laid down on the couch. With one hand massaging my strained neck, I reached over and grabbed one of the files on the table. I roughly looked through it's contents.

[Accounting Costs for the Association's Project Relating to the Synthesis Office.]

"Have you already calculated the costing? Did you organize the venues and social events?" They've just started on the Cultural City project about a week ago. Anne and Josiah had been very busy since then. They should get some rest and not rush things, otherwise they might over- exhaust themselves.

I supported the kids for their determination, but there was no need for them to be so hardworking.

Anne smiled and said, "Mom, actually, before even starting on the Cultural City project, Mr. Clark and I had already made preparations beforehand. For example, scouring locations, sale prices of buildings, and even costs for the renovations required. All of those have been done. After we've processed the follow-up quotations and acquired approval from the company we'll finalize our budget and then we'll be all set to prepare for the ribbon-cutting ceremony."

My silently hard-working daughter, who had an admirable sense of entrepreneurship, had once again formulated a plan as she ventured into development. She had no intention of stopping. With everything I've seen her accomplish, I was clearly a mother who was much too narrowminded about her.

I smiled helplessly and was much too embarrassed to continue meddling in her work. I stood up and left them to their project. "Alright, you guys continue on with your calculations. I won't interfere. Get some rest after, don't stay up too late."

"Alright, mom. We'll go to sleep in a while," Anne replied obediently.

"Okay." I acknowledged softly, then turned around and took Daniel upstairs. "Let's go, Daniel, I'll take you to your room. Are you brave enough to sleep by yourself? If you're not, we can keep the lights on for you. What do you think?""Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

"I'm brave enough." Daniel didn't say a lot, but he looked relieved.

Looking back from the stairs, Anne and Josiah were back to how they were just before I came in. They were in a frenzy, they looked more like they were preparing for war instead of preparing a budget.

Perhaps this was Anne's personal war. Her domineering sense of independence was paving the way for her and she wasn't slowing down.

If Monique were alive to see this, she would have been very proud of her.

As we lay on the bed with the lights off, Hendreix embraced me and I soon rolled up into a snug little ball in his arms.

"Irvin says that unless I marry him, he won't agree to the treatment."

"His sickness was caused by radiation. Nathan had wanted to use this on me at first but he and Jordan managed to trick Irvin so he had unknowingly taken my place."

He didn't ask for any details about the time when Irvin and I first got in contact, but that didn't mean that he didn't want to know. He probably didn't want to pressure me into it.

"Childish," Hendrix uttered in the dark. He was clearly very upset.

I held him tightly and adjusted myself into a more comfortable position. "I told him that too, but what else could I do? He's lost all sense of rationality." Hendrix's large hand gently caressed my head. "Did Irvin upset you?"

"No," I replied lightly. "The only person that could get me angry now is you. So long as you behave, then I'll be fine."

"Haha..." Hendrix was amused. He

then started to reminisce about the past. "I was so childish at the time. constantly teased you, making you angry and sad. Sometimes, I didn't even know what I was doing. But now that I'm certain, I only want you tésmile and never have to feel like you need to cry."

"Well..." I let out a big sigh of relief. I wasn't feeling particularly moved by his romantic declaration. Wanting to tease him, I answered, "Why are you saying all these cringy things nowadays. It's so unlike you..."

I then felt him move towards my ear. He whispered, "Life is short. If I don't say this to you at least two or three times a day, I won't be able to make up for all the times I missed out."

It felt ticklish and warm. I was able to sleep peacefully that night.
