My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2220

Chapter 2220

"What did you say?" Freya raised her hand and cupped her ear, pretending not to have heard her. "I didn't hear you very clearly." Andrea's face fell. She then said very unwillingly, "I'm sorry! I said I'm sorry! Are you happy now, Miss Moore?"

"So-so. You don't sound very sincere." Freya had a deadly smile on her face. "But that's fine, you'll know what regret feels like soon."

Fearing that they would fight again, I quickly changed the subject and spoke to the staff members, "Well, that's it. If you're willing to stay and work, you can continue with your previous roles. If you'd rather now, you can go home and take a vacation. When your boss returns, you can come back to work."

Every single detail and facet of the club had been carefully selected by Anne, including the staff. Nothing and no one could be replaced. Andrea's temper might not be the same as Anne's, so it was a good idea to avoid conflict for the time being.

The first step to developing a solid business was keeping and maintaining your talents.

Anne, this is the most I can do for you now.

After saying that to myself, I glared at Andrea knowingly and left, dragging Freya along with me.

So what if I wasn't willing to accept this? Anne had entrusted Andrea with the club. Regardless of how little I think of her, it wasn't my call to haul her away.

As soon as we got into the car, Freya called Anne angrily.

This time, the call went through.

As I was about to fasten my seatbelt, I slowed down and listened. Although I pretended to look indifferent about this, my ears were listening intently. "Anne, are you really handing the club over to her?"

After Freya asked this question, she switched the phone to loudspeaker mode and placed it between us.

Anne replied over the phone flatly, "She's just managing it for me for the time being."

She gave a very simple answer with no further explanation.

I've always suspected that Anne might actually be Hendrix's biological daughter from time to time. She shared the same curt way of answering question along with deafening silence.

She seemed calm on the surface, but when analyzed her properly would eventually come to see the rational she had. I've never really known just how much worry and concerns she kept hidden inside her.

"I'm not going to beat around the bush with you," Freya huffed. "Two things. First, where are you? And second, why didn't you ask the Roberts or me to take care of

the

club for you? Why that woman?

Don't you know how much trouble

she's done to your parents?" Content

I knew she was venting for my sake and asking questions that I wished I could ask myself.

I didn't blame Anne for this. I was just disappointed.

This feeling of defeat, for not being able to connect with your own daughter was a crippling blow to any mother.

Anne ignored her questions and

said, "I have my own plans. When

the time comes, I'll return. Please tell

my parents that they don't have to worry about me. I still have some things to do now, so I'm hanging up."

"Wait a minute."

"Hello? Anne?! Anne!"

Freya was so angry that she started punching the steering wheel, occasionally slamming her fists on the car horn.

Honk!

The sound of the car horn startled the sparrows on some nearby trees. Soon the car went silent.

Freya was the first to speak after a long bout of silence. She said, teasingly, "I've never expected your daughter to be such a rebel."

I smiled bitterly. I couldn't tell if I was feeling sad or happy.

Freya left after she sent me home. She said that she had something to do and didn't tell me about it. We didn't have much in common about work, so we didn't talk about it in detail.
