Chapter 31
Chapter 31
The woman was apparently angered by Celeste’s words and raised her bag to hit her head.
Celeste closed her eyes, thinking her luck was terrible today, encountering such a lunatic!
But the expected pain didn’t come. Instead, a familiar male voice sounded above her head.
“Do you know pregnant women who hit people are also breaking the law? Let go!”
“Who are you? Mind your own business!”
Mason smiled, “Just a Good Samaritan.” As he said that, he used force, and the woman felt a sharp pain in her wrist, involuntarily letting go of Celeste’s hair.
He stood in front of Celeste, gently pulling her behind him, and whispered, “Are you okay?”
It was then that Celeste recognized him as the man she had met on the rooftop of Mercy Hospital.
She shook her head.
The woman, furious, yelled, “Wicked woman! You ever found someone to help you. You think I’m scared of you? Touch me and you are fucked!”
Celeste wanted to say something, but Mason stopped her.
He held his phone, his tone gentle yet chilling. “I have evidence of you hitting someone on my phone. Of course, since you’re pregnant, even if I report it to the police, you’d only get fined. So you’re now acting as if you have nothing to fear. But what if 1 post this online? Do you think netizens will let you off the hook because you’re pregnant? Your child will have to bear curses before they’re even bom. Do you think they can survive that?”
The pregnant woman’s face changed, clearly frightened.
Mason handed her a business card, “Almost forgot to introduce myself. I’m a journalist. I have some influence, you know”
The woman didn’t dare to take it, gritting her teeth and saying, “You’re lucky!” After saying that, she grumbled and left, holding her belly. Mason turned around, and his previously intimidating aura vanished, his eyes filled with warmth and kindness.
“You’re injured.” He pointed to Celeste’s neck.
Looking in the mirror on her phone, Celeste saw that her neck was scratched and bleeding.
“I have medicine in my car. Let me help you with it.”
Since he had helped her, Celeste couldn’t refuse his kindness and whispered, “Thank you.”
Mason smiled and said, “You’re welcome.”
Once in the car, Mason took out a first aid kit and prepared to disinfect her wound.
Celeste, feeling a bit awkward, dodged and whispered, “I can do it myself.”
Mason naturally handed her the supplies. After Celeste treated her wound, she asked, “Are you actually a journalist?”
Mason was taken aback, then laughed and shook his head, “No, that business card was given to me by someone else. I didn’t even take
a video, I just said that to scare her. Otherwise, she wouldn’t stop bothering you.”
He didn’t look like a journalist. What journalist would drive a luxury car?
She smiled and said, “It worked quite well. I almost believed it.”
Mason paused, then chuckled, “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
As they were talking, his phone rang. Mason apologized and answered it.
“Where did you go?”
Kaylee barged in while Liam was rinsing his mouth.
“Bro! Why did Celeste come to the company?”
Liam frowned, “Don’t you know how to knock before entering my office? Where are your manners?”
“Your office door wasn’t closed tightly.” Kaylee muttered and then noticed Liam’s bad mood. She asked in surprise, “Are you not feeling
well?” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
Don’t even mention it. Liam’s stomach started to feel weird again.
He glanced at Kaylee impatiently, “What’s the matter?”
Kaylee pouted, “Mason ain’t picking up my calls, can I borrow your phone for a sec?”
