My Substitute CEO Bride

Chapter 1823

No wonder he was confident enough to utterly destroy Nalarov and slap him while they were in City Hall.

Regan, who was standing by the door, felt her legs go weak. She collapsed to the ground and hurriedly crawled toward the elevator.

She wanted to return to the countryside and escape the tumultuous world of politics. She wanted to live a life in the countryside where she did not need to second-guess every person's intention and fight with them.

Colby returned to his senses, and his lips trembled as he said, "General Copper, even if he is the commander of the Celestial Dragon Squadron, that still doesn't give him the right to slap someone just because he feels like it, does it? "Look at the injuries on my face. I doubt even my mother would be able to recognize me!"

Being the commander of the Celestial Dragon Squadron made Nash a first-rank government official, which meant Nash was one rank above him.

When it came to politics, he could afford not to be afraid of the National Martial Bureau and the Special Security Department, but he was absolutely terrified of the Divine Strategy Squadron and the Celestial Dragon Squadron.

The Divine Strategy Squadron and the Celestial Dragon Squadron were both organizations that held an immense amount of power!

Tristan cleared his throat and said calmly, "The commander of the Celestial Strategy Squadron owns the Nine Dragons Sword, which the Sovereign gifted to him personally. In fact, no one would pay attention to you if he killed you, let alone slapped you!"

The Nine Dragons Sword was equivalent to the State of Sword in olden times. It was used for everything ranging from decapitating the king's relatives to decapitating corrupt government officials.

That completely wiped out Colby's bravado, and he fell from the chair to his knees as he slapped himself frantically, "Commander Calcraft, I apologize for not knowing a wise man when I see one. Please, show me some mercy. Please don't hold my mistakes against me!"

He did not want to die, nor did he want to lose his position as a governor. Most importantly, he did not want his grandfather to feel ashamed. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

Colby was the grandson of Finnegan Petro.

After his parents passed, his grandfather took on a behind-the-scenes role that caused his level of influence within the Petro family to plummet.

Hence, Colby decided to pursue a career in office to secure a stable position of influence within the family.

He had spent the first half of his life working day and night to finally become appointed as governor of Capiton at the age of 42.

For the next eight years of his career, he spent his time carefully cultivating connections and relationships.

In eight years, he managed to craft an expansive network that gave him a stable, powerful position within the Petro family.

All of this had taken him so much hard work, and he did not want to see it all go down the drain.

Cobalt shook his head ruefully. He felt a heat spread across his face as a disappointed look appeared in his eyes.

He had been telling his cousin all this while that he should look toward the future and place his focus on developing infrastructure. Yet, he had not taken in a single piece of advice.

The fact he was on his knees and begging was an embarrassment to the Petro family name.

Tristan said, "Commander Calcraft, did you drop by City Hall because you knew General Copper would be here and wanted to try your luck in meeting him?"

He was trying to have Nash explain everything that had just happened to Kaden without stating the facts outright.

Nash got Tristan's hint and smiled

as he said, "had no idea General

In

Copper would be here. It was Colby Petro who decided to abuse his power and extend an invitation to my wife's grandfather, so I decided to tag along!"

That simply confused Kaden and the others even more.

Nash chuckled. "Why don't I start over? Here's what happened..."

The look of anger on Kaden's face became even more pronounced after hearing about everything that happened.

"How dare you, Colby Petro?! How dare you show such blatant favoritism and abuse your power this way?!

"Tristan, immediately contact the Inspection Department and have them launch an investigation against Colby Petro! "Cobalt, lock your cousin up!"

Cobalt waved at the guards. "Take him to the Inspection Office!"

Kaden gave the guards a cold look. "Have all these guards replaced as well!"

The guards lowered their heads, feeling aggrieved.

According to City Hall's rules, the governor had the right to order them to fire at someone.

They had not known Nash's true identity.

Besides, the governor had been attacked. His face was so swollen that it was not an overreaction to classify it as an assassination attempt. Nash spoke up, "Go easy on those guards. They had no idea who I was, and they were just trying to do their job!"

Kaden did not press on. He took Nash's hand in his. "Come, let's talk in the break room!"

Nash turned to James. "Uncle James, why don't you go ahead and take Grandpa home?"

James recovered from his shock and hoisted Zeke onto his back.

Nash and Kaden walked out of the room, where they were greeted by the sight of Reagan passed out on the floor. Nash sighed inwardly.

However, he decided to be nice and

did not get Kaden to have anyone from the Inspection Department launch an investigation into Reagan as well.

Two guards escorted Colby out of the office.

His phone, which was in his pocket, rang.

It was his uncle, Chekov Petro.

When Colby answered the phone, Chekov immediately said in a solemn voice, "Colby, I heard that Nalarov asked you to avenge him Remember, don't cause the Mares any trouble, and be extra sure you don't cross Nash!"
