My Wife Wants a Divorce by Red Little Fruit

Chapter 1014

Chapter 1014

Chaim remembered when he was young...

Then he looked at Sydney, and his expression became gentle. At that moment, he did not look like a businessman but a kind elder.

"Ms. Sydney, don't feel bad. This is a realistic problem. It's hard for a person to succeed without connections or background. I hope you can understand that," Chaim said.

Sydney understood what Chaim was saying, but she couldn't accept it.

It made her efforts look like a joke.

She worked so hard, but others only saw that her boyfriend was Julien. They couldn't see her efforts.

And her hard work means nothing in the face of power.

"Syd," Luke got worried when he saw Sydney's clenched lips and pale face.

And he felt guilty.

He blamed himself for not being as powerful as Julien or having expanded the family business as Julien had done. He hadn't made the family business bigger.

Otherwise, when Sydney was in trouble, he could have helped her out. But now he couldn't do anything for her.

"I'm fine. Don't worry." Sydney understood that Luke was worried about her, so she forced a smile to reassure him.

But Luke could see that she was forcing a smile. In fact, she was very upset inside.

But he didn't know how to comfort her.

Sydney took a breath to calm down. She turned to Chaim again and smiled, "Mr. Houston, thank you for your comfort. I did feel frustrated when I heard what you just said. I always thought you agreed to see me because of my company, not because of anyone else. But you told me that you came to see me because of Julien and that I was not qualified to meet with you. To be honest, I was frustrated."

"I'm sorry," Chaim whispered an apology.

Sydney waved her hand, "No, you don't need to apologize to me. You just spoke the truth. I should thank you. Thank you for reminding me that my company is not big enough and that I need to work harder to make it better. Thank you. Let’s have a drink."

After that, she stood up with her glass in hand.

Sydney was really happy when she heard that Chaim had agreed to meet with her. She thought he agreed to see her because her company was doing so well.

She had pride in her heart. She thought she could accomplish something through her own efforts. She had never thought that her achievements were because of Julien.

Chaim's words enlightened her. She was not that great and her success was because her boyfriend was Julien.

Many people respected her because of her background.

In many people's eyes, she would be nothing without Julien. People didn't hold such a young woman in such high esteem.

Chaim sobered her up, and now she saw the truth.

If Chaim hadn't reminded Sydney, she wouldn't have known about it. She would have thought she was doing a good job and she might have become conceited one day, which would do her real harm.

It was hard for a conceited person to accept the opinions of others.

If she did become conceited in the future, once she learned that her success was because of Julien, she would be devastated and she would probably do something crazy.

Sydney knew well how terrible it was when a person became conceited.

Luckily, Chaim woke her up and made her realize that she hadn't done enough. Most of her achievements should be thanks to Julien.

Now she understood her situation better and that she would not be too proud of herself.

Therefore, she was really grateful to Chaim.

Chaim could see that when Sydney thanked him, she meant it. He began to like her, and the smile on his face became warmer. He lifted her glass and responded, "Ms. Sydney, you're welcome. You don't have to thank me. I did it for the bank, too."

"I know." Sydney took a sip of her wine and smiled, "You did it for the bank, but you also reminded me, so I am grateful."

Chaim smiled, "Well, Ms. Sydney, I accept your gratitude."

"You should." Sydney smiled and nodded.

Luke was relieved to see her smile and the look of frustration gone from her face. He picked up the bottle and filled Sydney's and Chaim's glasses.

Chaim thanked Luke, then he turned to Sydney and said, "Ms. Sydney, you still haven't told me why you didn't ask Mr. Flint for help but come to the bank to get a loan."

After filling everyone's glass, Luke sat back in his chair. He also looked at Sydney. He was curious about what she would say.

Would she be honest? Or would she find an excuse?

Sydney swirled the glass in her hand. She didn't answer Chaim right away.

After a few moments, she replied, "It's simple. I don't want to rely on Julien."

Chaim raised his eyebrows, "You don't want to rely on Mr. Flint?" NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

"No."

"Why?" Chaim sat up straight, "Don't you want to marry Mr. Flint?"

"Of course, I would marry Julien." Sydney explained, "Julien and I made an agreement that we would get married again, but not now."

"If you guys are going to get married, why don't you want to rely on Mr. Flint?" Chaim said as he swirled his glass, "Mr. Flint is your fiancé and your future husband. Wouldn't it be normal for you to rely on him?"

Sydney shook her glass. Looking at the dark wine, she curled the corners of her lips, "Chaim, you should know that I have a company. If I didn't have a company or was a dependent woman, I would rely on him. I wouldn't feel embarrassed if I depended on him. But I don't want to be a dependent woman. I want to run Skylight well. I want to make the company as big as it once was, so I can't rely on Julien. I don't like it when people talk about Skylight, all they'll talk about is that I'm Julien's girlfriend. I can't accept that people think Skylight's performance is because of Julien, not me."

"I understand." Chaim nodded, "I understand you, Ms. Sydney, and you're right. In any industry, women face more challenges than men, and women have to work harder to succeed."
