My Wife Wants a Divorce by Red Little Fruit

Chapter 1042 Female Ringleader

Chapter 1042 Female Ringleader

"Exactly." Sydney nodded, "That's what I mean."

"So, the ringleader is a woman?" Sean's eyes widened in shock.

Sydney nodded slightly, "Yes."

The mastermind behind this was undoubtedly a woman.

Sydney had her share of male admirers who wished to break her up with Julien, such as Luke and Cayden.

But they would never stoop to such a low level.

This method, though effective, would tarnish her reputation.

They wouldn't do that to her.

If they wanted to ruin anyone's reputation, it would be Julien's.

But the online rumors painted her as a 'cheater' and Julien as a victim. It was obvious that the culprit only wanted to destroy her and leave Julien unscathed.

The conclusion was clear: the ringleader was a woman who admired Julien.

"Do you see why I said the person behind this was not the same one who intercepted our parts?" Sydney asked her secretary.

Sean nodded. "I see, but who was the one who took our parts?"

"It was Dallin Sullivan from Jackal City." Sydney didn't bother to hide it anymore, since the parts had been returned.

Sean gasped, "Him?"

"Yes." Sydney's eyes turned cold. "He took our parts because I sent his daughter to the police station. He tried to blackmail me into letting her go."

"His daughter..." Sean racked his brain and then realized something. She looked at Sydney and said, "If I'm not mistaken, the woman you sent to the police station was the one who had designs on Mr. Flint. She tried to steal Mr. Flint from you and then was forced by you to apologize online. Later on, she ruined your dress. Her name was Greta, right? That woman is Dallin's daughter?"

"Correct," Sydney confirmed. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Sean slapped her palm. "I never saw that coming. They're father and daughter. In this case, it's highly likely to be Dallin who pulled this stunt. After all, Greta has a crush on Mr. Flint and wants to steal him away. Dallin is probably doing his daughter's bidding. Only if he drives a wedge between you two can Greta get a shot."

Sydney laughed at her speculation. "That might be true for someone else, but not for Dallin and his daughter. Dallin has a deep grudge against Julien. How could he ever agree to marry his daughter to Julien? That would be like sending a lamb to the slaughter. He would just let Julien exploit his daughter and have a chance to get his revenge. He's not that mad."

Sean was stunned by her words. "So that's the story between Dallin and Mr. Flint. That makes sense. This scheme is not Dallin's doing for his daughter's sake. She couldn't do it herself, since she has been locked up in jail. Then it must be another woman. Is there any other woman who has a crush on Mr. Flint, envies you, and wants to split you up with Mr. Flint?"

Sydney rubbed her eyebrows, feeling exhausted. "How should I know? Countless women covet Julien and want to take my place, from this city to Jackal City. With Julien's background and looks, he draws attention wherever he goes. It's too hard to find the real culprit among so many faces."

"That's true." Sean nodded. "But didn't Mr. Flint declare his standing long ago? So, these women who admire him never dared to approach him. They're afraid of offending him and causing trouble for their families. But the culprit dared to do it, which speaks of her deep background. At least, her family is not weaker than the Flint family. She's not scared of angering Mr. Flint, or even of being exposed and thrashed. She might even have the power to protect the Squirrel team. That's why they were so bold. Maybe we can narrow down the suspects from this clue."

Sydney straightened up instinctively. "You have a point there, but there are still many families in the country that meet these criteria."

"If that doesn't work, we can call the Squirrel team directly and ask them, using Mr. Flint's name to intimidate them, and see if they spill anything," Sean suggested after some thought.

Sydney smiled. "You want me to borrow Mr. Flint's authority?"

"To achieve our goal, we can use some tricks. Since Mr. Flint's name is so influential, why not take advantage of it?" Sean smiled back.

Sydney noticed that Sean was livelier these days than when she first learned of Sean's pregnancy. Relieved a little, she nodded and said, "Okay, then I'll give it a try."

"I'll find the phone number for you." Sean bent down and searched on Sydney's computer.

Sydney didn't stop her but watched her work.

After Sean found the phone number, Sydney quickly picked up her phone and made a call.

At the same time, someone knocked on the office door.

Since the phone rang unanswered, Sean whispered something to her and headed for the door.

She opened it to find an assistant waiting outside.

"What's up?" Sean asked, eyeing the assistant.

The assistant hesitated before she looked past Sean's shoulder and peeked inside. She saw Sydney sitting behind the desk and said, "A bunch of reporters have gathered downstairs. They want to interview the chairman."

"What?" Sean scowled.

Sydney heard her and felt no surprise.

These reporters were like hounds that sniffed out any hint of scandal and swarmed over it.

She had lost count of how many times they had pestered her.

"Ms. Raines, what do you think?" Sean asked for her opinion directly since Sydney had heard it.

Sydney glanced at the phone screen which still showed no answer. Her lips parted, and she said calmly, "Ignore them. Just send them away."

"Send them away?" Sean faltered. "Don't we need to explain? To clear up that what happened online is false, not what the Squirrel team leaked. There are so many rumors about you now, and if they persist, they'll damage your reputation. Wouldn't it be better to use this chance to set the record straight?"

"It's pointless." Sydney shook her head. "Someone is pulling strings behind the scenes. Even if we go down and clarify, I bet the final version they publish will be different from what we say. There's no need to waste our energy on that."

"But if we don't deal with these reporters, they'll just claim that what the Squirrel team released is true and that you're too scared to face them," Sean reasoned.

Sydney smiled faintly. "It doesn't matter. This issue will be resolved sooner or later. Let them talk. They'll get a rude awakening in the end. And who knows if these reporters are not part of the scheme? If they are, wouldn't it be riskier for me to go down there?"

Sean thought about it and agreed with Sydney's point.

She gave up on persuading Sydney and said, "Alright then. I'll tell the security guards to get rid of them."

She turned to leave.

"Wait," Sydney called out to her.

Sean stopped and looked back at Sydney. "Anything else I can help you with?"
