My Wife Wants a Divorce by Red Little Fruit

Chapter 975 Leave Here

Chapter 975 Leave Here

"Dad, what's up?" Clarice looked at Brandon and asked with confusion.

Brandon signaled her to look at Mrs. Madden. "Your mom is calling you."

When learning that Mrs. Madden was calling her, Clarice turned to look at her. "Mom, what’s the matter?"

"Darling, what are you thinking about? I called you several times, but you didn't respond to me." Though Mrs. Madden furrowed her eyebrows, there was undisguised worry on her face.

Although she didn't love Clarice very much, she wanted to be a responsible mom.

So, she cared about Clarice.

"Nothing," Clarice prevaricated, lowering her head.

Mrs. Madden and Brandon looked at each other, both of whom knew clearly that Clarice was lying to them.

Mrs. Madden sighed. "Clarice, are you still minding what I said last time in your dad's ward? If you are still minding it, how about I apologize to you again? I’m sorry. I didn't say those words on purpose. As you had just come back, I was not used to being with you and said those words. When we stay with each other for longer and I’m used to it, I won't treat you that way again. Can you forgive me?"

Clarice still lowered her head and did not answer.

‘She won't treat me that way when she is used to being with me. Is that so?

‘I'm afraid not.

‘After all, I’m not their daughter, and they reject me instinctively.

‘No matter how long they are with me, they won't really like me.

‘They are good to me now just because they are responsible parents.

‘It's ridiculous that they are responsible because they think I’m the real Clarice.

‘Once they know that I’m not their daughter, they won't care about me, let alone be responsible,’ Clarice thought.

Mrs. Madden became anxious as Clarice kept silent.

Brandon also frowned and said in a serious tone, "Clarice, your mom has already apologized to you again. Don't you want to forgive her at all?"

Clarice sensed the displeasure in his tone and realized that she had given the wrong reaction. When she was about to remedy the situation, her phone on the dining table vibrated and lit up.

The attention of the three of them was drawn to the phone.

Close to Clarice's phone, Mrs. Madden saw the sender's name at once, which surprised her. "Mr. F? Clarice, who is he? Is he your boyfriend?"

When Brandon heard that Clarice had a boyfriend, his face hardened. "What? Boyfriend? Clarice, when did you have a boyfriend? Why didn't you tell me? What if you are deceived?"

Although Brandon was somewhat dissatisfied with Clarice's attitude toward Mrs. Madden, she was his only child anyway.

Apart from Mrs. Madden, Clarice was the person that he cared about most in the world.

Now that Clarice didn't tell him about her boyfriend, Brandon got worried.

Clarice was separated from Brandon and his wife for more than 20 years, but she had a boyfriend not long after she came back. She might even get married in the near future. How could Brandon and his wife accept it?

They didn't stay with their daughter for long. How could they allow their daughter to leave them shortly and live with her boyfriend?

Even if they permitted Clarice and her boyfriend to live together, it should be several years later.

If Mr. F was Clarice's boyfriend, they must ask her to break up.

"Yes. Clarice, you should have told it to us. How can you have a boyfriend indiscriminately? What should we do if something wrong happens?" Mrs. Madden also nodded in agreement.

When finding that Brandon and Mrs. Madden were so anxious, Clarice flushed with intense embarrassment. "Dad, he is not my boyfriend. He is just someone I know."

‘How dare I let that terrible man be my boyfriend?

‘Moreover, the man I like is not Mr. F, but...’ Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

Hunter's face flashed through Clarice’s mind, and an expression of shyness appeared on her face. Her cheeks became redder.

Brandon and Mrs. Madden noticed her shyness and thought they had guessed right. The person who sent Clarice the message was none other than her boyfriend.

Brandon got jealous and blushed with anger. He slapped on the table and queried, "Clarice, tell me who your boyfriend is. Who dares to attract my daughter under my nose? It pisses me off."

"Yes. Clarice, tell us who your boyfriend is. Now! Let me help you check to see what kind of man he was and whether he is eligible," Mrs. Madden said.

Clarice's face turned even redder, and she stood up with her phone. "Well, Mom, Dad, what are you talking about? I said that I don't have a boyfriend. Really. This person is just someone I know."

"Huh? Is that so?" Brandon narrowed his eyes.

Clarice nodded. "Of course, it's true."

Brandon felt her seriousness and fell silent.

So did Mrs. Madden. She spoke after a while, "Brandon, it seems that we misunderstood Clarice. She doesn't have a boyfriend."

"Though you don't have a boyfriend, there should be someone you like, right?" Brandon asked sullenly.

Clarice's shyness was real.

If she didn't have a boyfriend, there must be someone she had affection for.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been shy.

Sure enough, upon hearing Brandon's words, Clarice changed her expression and became nervous.

At the sight of her change, Mrs. Madden was sure that Brandon was right.

"Clarice, is there really a person you like?" Mrs. Madden took Clarice’s hand and asked.

Clarice lowered her head and did not speak. After a few seconds, she withdrew her hand and replied expressionlessly, "Well, Mom, don't ask me anymore. I'll reply to the message."

Then Clarice took a breath and walked to the window of the room.

She didn't dare to go out, for fear of meeting Sydney again.

It would be bad if she quarreled with Sydney outside and her parents saw it.

Mrs. Madden looked at Clarice's back and then at Brandon. She whispered, "Honey, what does Clarice mean in your opinion?"

Brandon also took a look at Clarice. Shaking his head, he answered, "I have no idea."

After a pause, Mrs. Madden queried, "Who do you think she likes? When I asked her, she seemed strange. I guess that the person she likes doesn't like her."

The moment Brandon heard it, his face darkened. "Hmph, it's that guy's luck that my daughter likes him. How dare he not like my daughter? My daughter is great! When I know who that guy is, I’ll teach him a lesson."

In Brandon's view, Clarice was the best girl in the world, and no man was qualified to be her boyfriend.

His daughter took a liking to a man, but the man didn't like her.

It really pissed him off.

Hearing Brandon's complaint, Mrs. Madden didn't think much of it. She just watched Clarice standing by the window with her back to them, who was focusing on the phone. This confused Mrs. Madden.

‘Who is Mr. F?

‘Why is Clarice answering his message with her back to us?

‘When Clarice saw the message from Mr. F, her face turned pale and she became shocked and nervous.

‘Could it be that Clarice is being badgered by a bad guy?’ Mrs. Madden thought.

When Clarice came to the window, she immediately checked the message from Julien.

As soon as she read the message, she squeezed her phone tight.

‘Mr. Flint asks me to take my parents to leave the restaurant.

‘It seems that Sydney has told him that she met me, and Mr. Flint must have guessed something.

‘If so, I can't stay here.’

Although Clarice felt unfair, she had to give in. Since Sydney didn't leave, it was Clarice who had to leave.

Clarice didn't dare to disobey Julien's order. Otherwise, Julien would definitely make trouble for her.

After taking a deep breath, Clarice quickly replied to Julien. Then she put away her phone, turned around and walked toward the dining table.
