Chapter 29 We Can Abolish the Contract
“Argh… What are you doing? Put it down!”
Jessica was startled and screamed when looking back and seeing herself in the mirror.
“Are you wearing this for me?”
Lorenzo seemed very calm, and he even deliberately tugged the hem of the clothes.
“I told you to get your hands off me!”
Jessica doubted if she could live with the shame for the rest of her life. She took out this nightdress and put it on because it looked pretty ordinary.
She never knew that there was a big open-up on its back, which looked not so much sexy as embarrassing.
“You chose it yourself. Why are you making this about me again?”
It was rare for Jessica to look so embarrassed. Lorenzo decided to make fun of her.
“You’re one to talk! Why don’t you take a look at the closet! What have you put in there? How could I possibly wear those?”
Jessica’s face flushed every time she thought of those weird clothes in the closet room.
“Next time, before you scold me, you’d better have a better reason. You should know that I’m not the one who got these clothes in there.”
Lorenzo had never paid attention to Jessica’s closet. Every time there were new products released, including runaway designs, he would transfer the money to the sales and make an appointment. The sales would get the clothes delivered in time.
Having heard what Jessica said, Lorenzo couldn’t help turning back to look into the closet room.
He didn’t tell Jessica the exact reason, but he already knew who had arranged this.
“Do you like this puppy?”
Seeing Jessica’s embarrassed face, Lorenzo changed the subject. He then raised his hand, pinched the puppy’s head, and rubbed him.
“Raphael is so sweet. We’re getting along very well.”
Jessica always felt good every time she thought of the puppy.
“Even a puppy knows how to be sweet, yet you’re still messing around. Maybe you two have switched your personality.”
Lorenzo scoffed, which only ended up with Jessica’s sullen glare. He was obviously suggesting that Jessica had frequently let herself out of control.
“If you really like this dress, why don’t you put it on? I’ll go and find another one.”
Jessica uttered as she got rid of Lorenzo. He still seemed very interested in that dress and wouldn’t let it go. Jessica would only turn over in a hurry and stand against the wall.
Seeing how embarrassed and shy Jessica was, Lorenzo couldn’t help laughing.
“Mr. Fletcher, here’s your dessert.”
Just by then, the housekeeper’s voice came from outside the door.
When Lorenzo got up to open the door, Jessica hurriedly lay on the bed and covered herself with the quilt, so that Lorenzo would stop making fun of her.
The housekeeper would send desserts to Lorenzo at a fixed time every day. It was a kind gesture from Alina. Lorenzo never liked deserts, but she still ate all of them every time. This time was no exception. He finished a Black Forest cake piece and passed the plate to the housekeeper.
…
Seeing that Lorenzo kept staring at her, Jessica decided to distract her. She made up an excuse and said he smelt like a sweaty mat. Then she shoved Lorenzo into the bathroom and told him not to pollute the air in the bedroom.
Lorenzo had seen her through, but he decided not to contradict her. So he walked into the bathroom and took a quick shower like always. Then he put a robe on and got back to the bedroom.
Seeing Lorenzo coming back, Jessica lifted the quilt over her head. Then she picked up a fashion magazine from the shelf beside her and skimmed over it.
Lorenzo didn’t feel anything at first, but as time passed by, he felt as if he had entered menopause. He felt so hot and unwell. He glanced at Jessica, who was lying on the bed, and immediately felt worse.
Lorenzo breathed deeply quite a few times, but the unbearable anxiety still wouldn’t go away. He put down what was in his hand and walked to the windows. Then he pushed open all of them.
“Put the magazine down for a minute. Come here and check on me.”
Lorenzo gasped heavily and urged Jessica to go over.
“I think you’re doing fine. Why do you need a check?”
Jessica didn’t understand. She raised her head and looked at Lorenzo.
“I don’t well now. Of course I need you to check on me because you know medicine!”
Lorenzo ignored Jessica’s question. He put away the magazine in Jessica’s hands and put her hand on his pulse.
When Jessica felt it, she almost jumped up.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
“What’s going on with you?”
Jessica exclaimed.
Lorenzo had already had a bad hunch, but he didn’t make sure because he was home. After seeing how Jessica reacted, he stood up and opened the bedroom door right away.
“Cough cough…”
The housekeeper was waiting at the door, but she never thought Lorenzo would come out so suddenly. He almost choked on his mouth water and spent quite a while trying to catch a breath.
“What have you put in the cake?”
Lorenzo’s voice was cold as ice, his eyes full of displeasure.
“Mr. Fletcher, it’s not me… I didn’t…”
The housekeeper almost cried in fear, but failed to shed a tear. She felt so aggrieved.
“It’s not like our house roof is falling down! Why are you mad like a fireball? Why are you always trying to make me mad? You’re a bad grandson!”
Bang!
Lorenzo could only slam the bedroom door closed. As angry as he was, there was nothing he could do to his grandmother. He could only let the anger boil his own head.
…
The room fell into silence again. However, Lorenzo suddenly came to Jessica. Before she reacted, Lorenzo had already leaned over and kissed her lips.
“Mumm… Get up!”
Jessica was terrified and pushed him hard.
However…
She failed…
Lorenzo’s breath was coming in gasps. He locked her with his limps.
“Calm down. I don’t think we can do this anymore. Let’s find a chance to confess to our parents.”
Jessica said as she avoided eye contact with Lorenzo. She wanted to make things clear without provoking him.
“Actually… We can rescind the contract…”
That was what Lorenzo said, and was also the thought he had in his mind.
“No!”
Jessica seemed startled and subconsciously refuted.
Lorenzo closed his eyes tightly and buried his handsome face between her shoulder and neck. It took him quite a while to recover. Then he stood up and left.
“Go take some rest. I’ll never force anything on you.”
As much as Lorenzo wanted to do it, he decided to give it up because he didn’t want to scare Jessica. After all, he…
He took a deep breath and hurried back to the bathroom to take a cold shower.
Hearing the pitter-pattering coming out of the bathroom, Jessica somehow felt depressed. She wasn’t sure if that was for Lorenzo.
After quite a while, she hugged a pillow and fell asleep leaning on the head of the bed. Later that night, the pain in her waist awakened her. She slowly opened her eyes.
Jessica skimmed over the bedroom and couldn’t find Lorenzo anywhere.
Lorenzo had disappeared.
