Nine Months Too Late 70

Sylvie hid herself beside the wall, not wanting to be seen.
Who was he meeting with? And why did it have to remain a secret?
She walked away, careful not to make a sound.
She hurried to her room, tucking herself in for the night. Minutes later, Westley showed up..
"Hey, sleeping already? It's still early." He walked up to her, giving her a peck.
She yawned. "I don't know, I just feel a little dizzy. You heading out?"
"Uh... yes. There's something I I have to do. I'll be back before you know it."
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"N... No. Not at all. Just stay home and relax, okay?"
She nodded flashing a smile. He stroked her hair, then left.
Sylvie waited for a minute before she jumped out of bed. She didn't know who Westley was meeting, but since it sounded private, she figured it might give her some clues She found something suitable to wear, then headed out. He'd already driven out of the compound when she got outside.
She
got into her own car, trailing after him.
Sylvie had to be be extremely
careful following Westley. Fortunately, she didn't get noticed until they reached where he was headed.
It was a commercial building.
She waited for him to go in before stepping out of the car. Keeping a safe distance, she walked toward the building until she was in a safe comer where she could peek at him without being seen. What she saw was... well, not what she expected.
He was in a garage filled with numerous cars, and he was shaking hands with one of the men present. Afterwards, the man showed him the cars, the ones that were her favorite color.
Sylvie's lips hung in disbelief. He wasn't doing anything suspicious. He was buying a car! Was it for her?
She scoffed, turning away at once. Her heart beat noisily in her chest. What was she thinking?
She made her way back to the car, looking over her shoulder to be sure no one had seen or followed her.

Sylvie felt a little guilty that night, stemming from the fact that Westley was only getting a car, yet she thought it was something dirty.
She felt bad for him, but how could she even blame herself when she was confused?
However, something else troubled her. Now that he was back on his feet again, would he still be going back to the project?

The next day, it was time for Sylvie to get back to Kage's place. Westley was angry about it, but he couldn't change her mind.
"You know this will have to change once we get married, right?" he asked angrily as she climbed down the staircase with her bag. "You should know there's no way I'm going to let you live with another man while we're married. "I know." She rolled her eyes. But they weren't getting married anytime soon, not when she was pregnant with another man's kno babies.
"And when will that be?" Westley asked impatiently while she walked to the door.
I don't know, Wes. I really don't know." She paused at the door. "But I'd appreciate it if we don't discuss it right now."
He scoffed, not saying anything else.
Drawing a deep breath, she walked out, grateful that there were no more arguments.
It was midday when Sylvie returned to Kage's house, and a part of her had hoped he wouldn't be home. But luck must really have a thing against her, because Kage was right there, having drinks with some of his friends at the wine bar. She paused at the door, surprised. Goodness! She had no idea he was having visitors. She was wearing a tight shirt which might have exposed her bump a little bit.
They'd been laughing over a joke but paused the moment they saw her. Kage expressed a mix of surprise and relief, while his friends gave her welcoming smiles.
"Hey, Sylvie. It's good to see you."
"Wow. You look prettier."
"Hey.
The three of them spoke warmly to her. Kage was the only quiet one.
Sylvie's heart was racing in her chest. What if they've noticed the baby bump?
"Hi, guys." She wore her usual smile. It's good to see you again."
Inclining her head, she started for the staircase.
She was in the hallway when she felt Kage behind her.
"You were supposed to come yesterday."
She paused, taking a second longer to turn around.
"Yeah. Something came up."
"Something that had to do with staying at Westley's place?" His voice was unusually calen
Sylvie resisted the urge to roll her eyes, exhaling deeply. Tm here already. Okay? Now, I need to rest. She turned around, about to leave. But to her surprise, a warm hand reached for hers, bringing her to a stop. Sylvie turned with surprise, finding Kage's eyes locked on hers. Her heart beat in uneven rhythms. Why was he... 08.38
"I'm glad you're back, Ire muttered.
Goosebumps filled her skin immediately. Okay, was someone else impersonating Kage? Because this was so not like the Kage she knew. What was wrong with him?
She gulped hard, her skin suddenly feeling like it was beneath ice
Thank you" Her voice shook a little. It was almost impossible to hide how nervous she was.
Releasing her hand, he took a step back, while she quickly walked away.
It took Sylvie a long time to be able to get over what had happened in the hallway. She hated that side of Kage-that side of him that was hard to hate. It was better when he was being rude, grumpy, and all. That way, she could call him a jerk. Later at night, she made herself a cup of tea, then went out to stand on the balcony. The night sky was particularly beautiful that night, filled with plenty of stars. Sylvie sipped from her cup periodically until she could smell him behind her.
