Chapter 2 Even Inferior to a Slum Dog
Chapter 2 Even Inferior to a Slum Dog
Calvin didn’t dare to look straight into her eyes. After their breakup, Mary became a totally different
woman. She wore more makeup and less clothing now.
Her skin was fair and she was wearing a crop top. Her breasts were heaving and a shorter man could
easily see everything under her clothes by looking down a little bit.
Her whole body leaned on John and her nice legs were swinging in the air, which made every man in
the room stare.
Calvin could sense her coldness without even looking into her eyes. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“Mary, can we have a word outside?”
Before Mary could answer him, John jumped off the chair and walked towards him.
“Holy shit, did you just dig into the garbage bin or something? Why do you smell so bad?”
John covered his nose and said, “I’m warning you, Mary is my girl now. Don’t you think about stealing
her back. And of course she wouldn’t take another look at someone like you. Oh my God, can’t you just
change your clothes before you went out? I’m gonna pass out.”
Those who were sitting over there went close and sniffed dramatically, “Holy cow, that’s so stinky! He
definitely had dug into the trashcan before and look at the thing that got stuck on his mouth. Did he just
go into the trashcan for food?”
“Who does he think he is to see a pretty girl like Mary?”
Calvin nerved himself to walk in. He knew he would be mocked but he didn’t care at all as long as this
could help his mother.
But he underestimated their viciousness.
Calvin clutched his fists and his heart was filled with wrath.
“Oh, he’s mad. Is he gonna punch me in the face?”
“Come on! Come at me! Do you dare to do that? Touch me once and I’ll make you lose everything.”
“Don’t piss him off. He’s got nothing to lose now. He might actually beat you up.”
“Phew! Him? Take a look at him! He would never dare to do that.”
Calvin looked up slowly and begged, “Mary, please, for old time’s sake, just come with me for a sec.”
Marry leaned on the bar counter and was swirling a wine glass. Her face was filled with satire.
“How could you bring up the past? You know, that was the most humiliating time of my life. I didn’t
know what I saw in you or why I would be with you.”
John smiled and walked to her, grabbing her tiny waist, “Honey, don’t bring up unhappy things. Just
think of this as a charity. He didn’t even touch your hands once, right? Calvin, I actually should’ve
thanked you for this. Well, here’s ten dollars for tip.”
“Hahaha, that is too generous of you.”
“Oh, stop it. I normally tip those beggars no less than 100 dollars.”
What he meant was that Calvin was even inferior to a beggar.
Mary felt disgusted to look at Calvin. She didn’t know why a man could say absolutely nothing when he
was humiliated like this. What a useless man!
“Calvin, just hit the road. Don’t you ever show up again and never mention our past. Or else I will turn
against you.”
Calvin was in shock. He didn’t expect a girl who was once kind and innocent to become so cruel.
But he couldn’t leave now.
“Mary, I need to borrow two grand from you. I promise I’ll pay you back with interest.”
Mary looked at him sneeringly, “So after all his, you are here for money. You make me sick. Do we
even know each other? Why would I lend you money? What are you to me?”
“You...even if you don’t acknowledge our past... At least we were classmates.”
Mary had her arms crossed on chest and said, “If every one of my classmates asks me for money, I’ll
run out of cash even if I run a state banknote company.”
Calvin wouldn’t give up because Mary was his last hope.
“Mary, I really need that money. Please show some mercy. Lend some money to me. My mom is still in
the hospital. If I don’t have the money, they are gonna cut off the meds.”
John suddenly acted to be quite serious, “Really? Your mom is ill?”
Calvin thought he had a shot and said, “Yes, terminal cancer.”
John’s eyes were wide-opened and he covered his mouth, “That bad? Is 2000 dollars enough? Mary,
should we lend him more?”
Calvin took a step forward and said, “No need. two grand is enough.”
“But the disease is so serious. How can two grand be enough for her? Billy, give me your business
card.”
A young man handed him a business card and John passed it to Calvin, “Here, that’s what you really
need.”
Calvin took a closer look at it and it was the business card of a funeral parlor...
“You...” Calvin’s teeth were chattering out of anger and he glared at him.
“Oh, are you mad at me? Hahaha, she’s got cancer, why bother to save her. Be realistic. A
crematorium is what you really need the most. Billy, do me a favor and give him a discount.”
Billy gave him a flattering smile and said, “John, don’t give me such a hard time. No matter how good
the discount is, he has to pay. Look at him. I bet he doesn’t even have a penny on him.”
John shrugged, “Then what to do?”
“Just find somewhere quiet in the suburb and set her body on fire himself.”
Calvin couldn’t take it anymore. They could mock him and humiliate him however they wanted, but they
shouldn’t do that to his mom.
“You jackasses, I’m gonna kill you...”
Calvin clutched his fists and came at John. He mustered all his strength and was about to punch John
in the face. Suddenly, he was tripped by something and fell onto the ground.
Then he heard John sighing, “What a loser! He couldn’t even reach me even if I just stood there still.
Guys, kick his ass.”
After another round of beating Calvin curled up on the marble ground like a dead dog.
He threw up and the bread he hadn’t digested yet came out of him.
“John, this douche bag still got bread to eat. Looks like life works out fine for him.”
John turned to Mary and she was standing in front of Calvin.
Calvin was weeping and his whole body was trembling, “I…need...money.”
“Please...please.”
The only thing that was colder than her eyes was her tone.
“Calvin, look at you. You’re inferior to a slum dog. And you wanna borrow money from me? How are
you gonna repay me?”
“Be more realistic. Go back to your mother and buy her a proper diner. Let her pass away in relief.
She’ll only suffer more if she’s with you.”
Mary proceeded as she took something out of her pocket, “You gave me this jade necklace. I’ve always
wanted to give it back to you. Now that you’re here, we’re even!”
She let go of the necklace and it fell on Calvin’s chest. It was once Shirley’s. She told him to give this
necklace to his future wife and Calvin gave it to Mary.
Just as Calvin was reaching out for it, John stepped on the necklace and it broke.
No one notice that a golden light passed through.
“Oops, I’m sorry. I broke your precious gift for Mary. How much do I owe you? Is one dollar enough?
Mary sneered, “It looks like he bought it from a one dollar shop. You can buy three of this for one
dollar.”
“Mary, do I have any change on me? I overpaid him with that ten dollar.”
Calvin was stunned and he stared at the pieces of the necklace. This might be the last thing his mother
left him.
“You...”
Calvin struggled to his feet and then he heard a loud and deep voice in his head.
“Lord Supreme...”
