The drive back home was very quiet, Kade didn’t say a word and neither did I. Immediately we drove out of the hotel I saw a swam of people with mics and camera men, they were reporters no doubt who couldn’t wait to ask thousands of questions about what just happened at the reception. 

I wondered how they were so fast, sure someone must’ve recorded everything and posted it online but this was too fast to be honest! I was furious because I knew Emelia was behind this, but I didn’t understand why she was so obsessed with sabotaging Kade. It’s not like she is his stepmother or anything, everything that happened was just too much for me take in. 

First, they make me marry Kade, then Klyde invites Gina to sabotage an already doomed wedding reception. I looked at Kade, one hand was curled in a tight fist as he scrolled through his phone with his other hand.

I got scared as I thought to myself, “he must really be angry with me.”He definitely didn’t want to marry me, especially since he hasn’t forgiven me yet, but I was a little relieved that it was him – at least he’s not a monster like his brother. 

When the car came to a stop I looked up and found that we were already parked at the garage but I didn’t recognize this place. I looked at Kade but he didn’t notice or he probably did but didn’t want to speak to me. 

He got down from the car and took off his suit as he headed for the entrance to the luxurious mansion we were now in. I was dazed as I stared at it with widened eyes, the Harold’s sure were filthy rich but I didn’t know they could actually have something like this. 

I stepped down from the car and gazed at the palm trees at certain parts of the mansion, it felt like I was in a tropical island especially because of the pool just in front of the house. The entire vibe of the place was so peaceful, I sighed as the wind blew my hair and thought to myself, “why didn’t the Harolds live here, it’s so much more serene. I couldn’t definitely live here forever.” 

“What are you doing?”I heard someone say from behind me, startling me.

“Kade,”I said, he just raised a brow and looked at me with a slight frown on his face.

“I was just…admiring your family’s house.”I said and he scoffed. 

“It’s my house.” 

“What?!”I asked, completely surprised at how chill he was when he said that. He didn’t respond to me, he just inhaled deeply and said, “It’s cold outside, come inside.”I followed him as he made his way to the mansion. He was only putting on the white sleeve he had inside his suit earlier but I couldn’t help but notice how muscular he was. 

“you saw the passcode right? “he said and I snapped out of it. What passcode? Wait the one to his door? Shit I didn’t see anything since I was looking at him instead.

I entered the house and took in the beautiful scenery. He must be a fan of pools since he had yet another beside the sitting room. The couch was teal and the pillows on them were black which to me was a nice contrast to the white walls. 

He went upstairs while I sat down on the couch and sighed as I looked at the view right in front of me, maybe Kade wasn’t really big on privacy, I thought since the exterior of the house was mostly glass and it revealed the heart of the house. 

My attention was drawn to the phone ringing on the table in front of me. I picked it up and looked at it, it was the one Kade got for me. 

“Hello,” 

“Your friend brought your clothes, they’re in the room upstairs.”I heard Kade say and I was going to thank him but he hung up before I got the chance. 

I quickly went upstairs and was confused at how I would find the room he was talking about. 

“It’s over here”I heard Victoria say and I jolted in fear. 

“What are you doing here?”I asked when she came out of one of the rooms dressed completely different from how she looked at the reception. 

“I work here.”She said simply and I blinked at her several times before I peered at her again. It wasn’t Victoria. 

“Are you Victoria’s sister?”I asked and she smiled at me and nodded her head. 

“Twins?” 

“No, I’m younger.”she said simply and I gushed at how identical they were even though they weren’t twins. Her hair was a lot more dark red than Victoria’s but she seemed to be the prettier one of the pair, no wonder I never heard Victoria mention it. 

“You will be sleeping here and I’ve arranged your things that were brought in earlier today.”She said and I smiled at her in appreciation.

“What’s your name?” 

“Valora.”She said simply and stood their awkwardly for a while as she waited for me to tell her to leave. I genuinely wondered how old she was, wasn’t she supposed to be a high schooler?

“Oh, it’s nice to meet you Valora. You may go, thank you.”I said but she still stood there. 

“Would my sister be coming?”she asked as she fiddled with her hands shyly.

“I suppose… she was with me earlier. I could ask her to come if you want.” 

The girl smiled widely and I couldn’t help me smile that formed on my face as well, wow she was so adorable. I knew she wouldn’t give me any problems. 

“Thank you Madame,”she said and I scoffed. “Just call me Viola please before I die of all this unnecessary heirachy.”I said and she giggled.

“Is that really okay?” 

“Yes, I’m begging even!”I said and she nodded while smiling. 

“I’m Happy that you’re here. Master Kade talked about you once and it was very lovely the things he said about you, he needs someone like you.”She said and left immediately after. 

I stood in front of the door to my room and blinked several times as I tried to process if I really just heard her say that Kade said good things about me. Why was that so hard to believe every time he looked at me. I know he was sweet to me when Klyde tried to do force himself on me but…other than that he has given me cold stares.

The room was nice, cozy, and most of all warm. I loved it already, I quickly went to the closet and found my clothes hanged in some sort of color arrangement. I found my make up kit in the drawer along with my underwear and I suddenly felt embarrassed that she helped me arrange them. 

My stomach rumbled and I sighed, recalling that I haven’t eaten a thing all day. But first, I’ll take a shower before I eat anything. 

After talking a shower, I wore my favorite nightwear – my oversized, lavender and pink patterned shirt. Oh I’ve missed it so much! I went out of my room freely because I had no doubts that Kade would remain in his room all night. I went straight to the kitchen and found no one inside and there wasn’t even an aroma of food to hint at the possibility of Valora cooking. 

“Well, I guess I’ll eat a snack.”I said as I opened the fridge and grinned when I saw my favorite late night snack inside – Greek yogurt and fruit!

Placing some sliced oranges and purple grapes inside the yogurt that was already in a small, round bowl I sneezed and then paused when I heard a panting sound behind me.

When I turned around, I saw a very large wolf-like dog staring at me with light blue eyes. I didn’t want to panic but the way it’s sharp teeth started to show as it growled made me lose my shit and I growled and ran out of the kitchen while it chased me!

“Kade!”I screamed at the top of my lungs when I got to the sitting room but I didn’t know the password so I could get out of the house. 

The dog charged at me and I screamed, shutting my eyes as I ran in whatever direction my legs took me even if I would slam myself against a wall. 

“Zeus heel!”I heard Kade say in a gruff tone making the dog whimper. I opened my eyes and watched as  the dog sat down and stared at me with his tongue sticking out. 

“Do you mind,”Kade said, I felt the vibration in his voice as he said that and I got flustered when I realized that it was because I was literally clawing my nails into his back. 

Oh God, I didn’t look – I really didn’t but I knew he was shirtless. Slowly, I released him and tucked my hair behind my ear as I cleared my throat and said, “Sorry, I didn’t realize that I was clinging unto you like that.” 

He didn’t say anything so I looked at him and did everything within my power not to swoon. He was wet and all he had on was his towel, he crouched and ran his hands through his hair before he looked his dog in the eye and said, “Zeus, don’t bark at her okay. She’s on our side okay?” 

The dog barked at him instead but I don’t speak dog so I didn’t know if he was agreeing with Kade or being a rebel. Kade laughed and rubbed the dogs thick fur while the dog licked his face. I guess that was a good thing. 

“This is Viola,”he said and looked at me, I wondered if I was seeing this right because I could’ve sworn that the look in his eyes was so heart-warming. I guess it’s because his dog made him happy, there’s no way I am the reason behind that look in his eyes. 

Zeus stared at me and then he got up and started walking towards were I had glued myself to the wall.

“What is he doing Kade?”I started to ask but Kade just smirked and folded his hands as he watched the show.

When Zeus got to where I was he gave me the most adorable puppy eyes I have ever seen and then it hit me that Zeus wasn’t yet matured – he was just a puppy! My fear for aggressive dogs made me picture him three times bigger than he was right now. 

He sniffed me and started to wag his tail and then barked in excitement, climbing my body gently with his paws. That was so cute! I laughed at how ridiculous I was to have thought he was dangerous.

“Hi big boy”I crooned as I crouched and gave him a belly rub. 

“Wow, he likes you”I heard Valora say and I gave her a little frown, “Where were you when he didn’t?”I asked and she smiled.

“Did you call my name?”she asked and I nodded. She was about to say something when Kade started to leave.

“Wait, Kade I need to talk to you!”I said and he stopped, turning around to look at me. His hair was almost reaching a mullet and his body was just too sexy for me to have actually remembered what I wanted to say.

“Today Viola.”He said, sounding a little annoyed and I snapped out of it, my cheeks already giving me away as I realized that both he and Valora caught me drooling over his body. 

“Its about the wedding today, it – it took me by surprise.”I said and he sighed. 

“Come to my room,”he said and left without even looking at me. I stared at Valora and she just shrugged before she too left me standing there with Zeus. 

I should wait a little for Kade to get dressed first – I thought. As I stood there while Zeus was placing his paws on my stomach probably asking to be fed or maybe he wanted to play, I wondered why Kade wanted me in his room. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

Was that the only place we could have private talks? Because I wasn’t so sure that my body would be able to behave itself if I went in his room and the last thing I wanted him to think of me was that I was throwing myself at him. 

I sighed and followed Zeus as led me to the kitchen were I believed his dog food was, I found it after a while of searching and saw him pushing his feeding bowl to where I was standing. I filled it to the brim and gave him some water as well before I left him to enjoy his dinner while I carried my yogurt and stood in front of kade’s room and knocked on the door.

“Come in,”he said and I opened the door and sighed when I still saw him shirtless as he sprawled on his bed and watched TV.
