Chapter 9 The sight of his body
Viola
I was so embarrassed since the whole Harold Family saw Klyde try to attack me. It was obvious that it would be no secret whatever goes on between me and Klyde. How was his father even able to tell that I was refusing Klyde sex?
The expression on the faces of the Harolds was total surprise and then amusement but I still felt so embarrassed especially when their father tried to mimic me – ugh I’ll never get that out of my head. Kade just seemed absolutely disgusted by the sight of both me and Klyde and I really couldn’t blame him.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
After their father left, I saw Kade leave immediately with a woman – a pregnant woman. She looked familiar, like she was a sibling to Kade but there was no time to find out because I hated to wait for Klyde to get dressed so we could leave together.
” The fuck is that for?!” Klyde’s annoying voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I scoffed. Apparently, I hit the seat with my hands when I realized the woman I’d seen with Kade was Elizabeth and that caused his Coca-Cola to pour on the seats.
” I just realized something important, that’s all. Besides why’d you leave it on the seat?” I said and then he glared at me but I didn’t care.
” I’m not taking the plane with you, you’re too chaotic.” He said but I chose not to respond because – wouldn’t he be the chaotic one? He literally chased me around the mansion with only his boxer shorts on!
” Wake me up when we get to Hawaii” I said and he scoffed.
” Just how dumb are you? We’d have to get to the airport first or do you expect me to carry you to the plane? You probably weigh the same as an elephant. ” he said with a chuckle but I again ignored him because I noticed it upsets him.
********
” Get up, we’re at the airport.” I heard someone say, tugging me violently.
” What?” I asked still feeling dizzy and then groaned when I realized that I was still in the car with Klyde.
” Viola equals gold digger!!!! ” I heard voices chanting and when I looked out the window I saw a few women yelling as we entered the airport.
Since the glasses were tinted they couldn’t tell which of the cars of the Harold’s I was in so they just chanted those exact words to every Harold car that drove in.
” Wow, they all hate you.”
” They’re the pathetic ones,” I said angrily before I got down from the car quickly and tagged along with Kade and Elizabeth.
Kade glanced at me quietly when he noticed I was following them and the quickened his steps, leaving me and Elizabeth to walk alone.
” You know the only thing keeping those women from mauling you is the security our family provides you.” She said without looking at me.
Yeah, I definitely deserved that. I was friends with Elizabeth back then but since she was a college student and wanted to maintain her ” cool reputation” we only spoke whenever I came to visit Kade.
She was our number one shipper and she even thought that we’d get married and have kids the second we get out of college but… I cheated on Kade with Klyde and she absolutely despised me afterwards. Both she and Kade shared so much hate for Klyde and I never really understood why until now.
“Elizabeth…” I started to say and she held up her hands in my face to silence me and we stopped walking and looked at each other for a while, saying nothing. She looked stressed out but still beautiful anyway.
” I just hate that you would choose Klyde over Kade and then when you got pregnant you just left!” She said and started walking slowly while I followed her from behind.
” I didn’t have a choice. Your mother made me go… I was just scared she would find other means to get rid of me.”
Now I had never admitted this to any of the Harolds because I was never to tell anyone about it. But what’s the use? I panicked and already told Jenna and Nina all about it – though I trusted that they wouldn’t tell anyone.
Besides, I’ve known Elizabeth to be smart enough to keep certain things secret.
” What?” She asked and stopped walking making me bump into her.
” I’m so sorry.” I said and she rolled her eyes.
“Oh please! I’m not gonna die just because you bumped into me.” She said as she signaled a body guard who was heading our way that she was fine.
” Now tell me about what my mom did. And when I mean everything – I mean everything.” She said, widening her eyes every time she said the word ” everything”. I chuckled because it felt like old times when we would gossip about boys and all of that – only that this time this discussion wasn’t a topic I liked to talk about at all.
” I have to figure out a way to keep you away from that swine first.” She said and locked her hand in mine as we approached their plane.
” Tell me all about it on the way.” She said and I nodded.
*****
” That woman is literally a snake!” Elizabeth hissed and drank out of the flask of water she’d brought along with her. I had just told her all that happened after I got pregnant and she seemed so disgusted by her mother.
” I can’t possibly imagine why she would do that to a seventeen year old!”
” I was sixteen then, gave birth at seventeen.” I corrected and she just stared at me sympathetically.
” But… How the hell are you going to handle marrying Klyde?” She asked after a while before she ate an apple she’d also brought with her.
” It’s from James farm they’re very tasty.” She said when she noticed I was staring at her eating the apple.
” I umm… I honestly don’t think I can do it.” I said, ” marrying Klyde would be a nightmare.” I added and tucked my hair behind my ear.
” Your hair is black… hmmm it kind of suits you. Makes you more sexy – no wonder Kade couldn’t take his eyes off of you today.” Elizabeth said and smiled faintly before she took another bite from her apple.
” What did you say?” I asked, I was totally shocked that she just said Kade couldn’t take his eyes off me! Why couldn’t he? I thought he hates me?
Elizabeth’s eyes widened when she realized what she’d just said then she smiled sheepishly and said, ” I didn’t mean it like that though. You’re attractive that’s what I mean but his hatred for you is still hardcore – not like you care if he hates you or not.”
I chose not to respond to her because I honestly didn’t know how I felt about the possibility of Kade still having feelings for me but I was definitely sure how I felt about him hating me.
In a few hours we got to Las Vegas and we were immediately lodged into a hotel that I had just discovered from Elizabeth was owned by their mother. She told me that Emelia would probably be waiting for us there and I just felt so nervous.
” Don’t appear weak. Be strong! Make her see that she couldn’t break you.” Elizabeth advised but I just shook my head because I was certain that Emelia will only be encouraged to do more to me if I seemed unbothered.
” lá creamémelia – cringey,” I said, reading the name of the hotel and Elizabeth chuckled.
” Our mom is so extra. How the hell is this place even a five star hotel already?” She said, taking the words right out of my mouth.
We followed Mr Harold as he entered the hotel. People stole glances at us and I had a feeling that though this hotel was a five star hotel and only the rich lodged here, these people knew that some filthy rich assholes just stepped in.
” Have your keys everyone!” One of Mr Harold’s bodyguards said and I saw them scrambling for keys like kids.
” Some rooms are bigger and better than others. Getting a really luxurious room is purely by luck but we all know how dad does it – the keys with black dots are the best ones. Avoid the brown dotted keys you’d have to share a room with someone weird.” Elizabeth said and then picked her key from the counter. I was the only one left and the last key was definitely with brown dots.
” Alright, retire to your rooms and you’ll be attended to shortly.” The same man said again and some of the hotel attendants ushered us to our various rooms.
” I’ve got an important call. I’ll be back.” Kade said and he answered a phone call.
” Poor guy picked a brown key, must’ve not worn his contacts today.” Klyde said with a smirk as he walked past me and Elizabeth.
I looked at Elizabeth and her dodging eyes said it all. Kade must’ve noticed I got a brown key too so he left. He’d rather go elsewhere than have to share a room with me.
” Elizabeth…” I started to say but she shook her head and said, ” shhhh… He’ll be fine. Just rest for tonight, tomorrow’s gonna be a big day.” She said and entered her room.
I felt so guilty that Kade wouldn’t sleep comfortably because of me and that gave me a sleepless night. I already had my bath and was ready to go to bed but I couldn’t just sleep so I went out of the room in search of Kade.
I found him in the bar section and he just stared at a glass of wine, he was there for minutes and he kept blinking repeatedly.
” Hey, Kade… Umm are you okay?” I asked and he sighed. He looked at me briefly and then he got up from the seat and started heading back to the rooms, with me following him closely.
” What? Didn’t you call me so I could join you in the room?” He asked when he stood in front of my room and I panicked.
Why did I really go in search of Kade? Was it because I wanted him to sleep in the same room as me? – No way! I just wanted him to NOT sleep in a room that’s not… Nice.
” I won’t sleep in here if you don’t feel comfortable with it.” He said and then hiccuped. He was drunk! Kade wasn’t the messy, violent type when he was drunk, most times you wouldn’t even know he is drunk until he hiccups and blinks repeatedly.
Maybe he won’t remember it if we did sleep in the same room. Tomorrow morning I’ll wake up early and go to Elizabeth’s room.
” Viola!” He said and threw his head back in frustration before he bit his lip and ran his hands through his thick full hair. He was so sexy for that – just why would he do that?!
” Fuck it, I’m going in.” He said and fiddled with his key for a minute before I just sighed and pushed the door since I never locked it.
” Oh…” He said and then he entered the room.
” I know the room isn’t much but the beds okay. I’ll sleep on the couch over there so just -” I was saying as I shut the door but when I turned around, he had already taken off his shirt.
The sight of his body left me absolutely speechless.
