Chapter 47
Chapter 47 Birthday Wishes
The carpet in the room was also covered with rose petals. The entire room seemed to be engulfed in a romantic red hue. Although she hadn't drunk any alcohol, there was a kind of intoxicating charm that made her feel dizzy. Emily pushed him lightly, "I haven't changed my shoes yet..."
She was still wearing white shoes because they had gotten a little dirty after going out. The pure and beautiful petals made her feel like even stepping on them would be sacrilege.
She thought about squatting down to take off her shoes, but Mr. Satan was quicker.
He knelt down in front of her, pulling her to sit on his lap.
"I can do it myself..."
Mr. Satan didn't say anything, but the strength in his hands left no room for refusal. After she sat down on his lap, he leaned down to help her untie her shoelaces. Emily's hands were awkward, and she didn't know where to put them, so her body tensed up.
"Emily..."
Mr. Satan suddenly called out, startling Emily. "Huh? Is it difficult for you to take off my shoes? I can do it myself."
Mr. Satan held her white shoes in his palm and examined them carefully, somewhat surprised. "What's your shoe size?"
The white shoes obediently stayed in his large palm, which was even larger than his hand.
Emily bit her lip, feeling a little embarrassed. "Size 6.5."
Actually, they were not even size 6.5, but since they were sneakers, they were a bit bigger.
"Very well," Mr. Satan nodded. "No wonder you didn't want to wear the smallest size high heels in the closet. It turns out they don't fit."
The smallest size for high heels was size 7, and they indeed didn't fit well.
However, Emily's main reason for not wearing high heels was not this. She was not accustomed to wearing them.
The high heels at the car show had left a psychological shadow on her, and now she was afraid of them.
"I think flat shoes are more comfortable," Emily said. "I have to walk a long way to the hospital, so flat shoes are more convenient."
However, Mr. Satan said, "I'll have someone custom-make high heels that fit you. You might need them."
There seemed to be an underlying meaning in Mr. Satan's words.
"Just once."
"What?"
"The car show. I just did it as a model that one time, and also to help Jackson. He'll be better prepared next time and won't need a makeup artist to model."
Mr. Satan placed her shoes neatly in the shoe cabinet, then pulled her up, saying, "But you were stunning that day. Do you know that the entire upper class society in New York City is talking about you?"
Emily was surprised. "Really? My makeup was so heavy. How could I be stunning?"
"These people have seen too many women. They can tell the difference between a real beauty and a fake one. There's a man named James who's been pestering Jackson for your phone number every day, nearly getting beaten up by Jackson." Emily burst into laughter.
"Emily, I just bought a piece of land under the Green Tree Mountain. I want to build a castle there."
Emily didn't understand why he suddenly changed the subject, but she still gently agreed, "Okay, living in hotels is inconvenient, right? With so many paparazzi now, it's bound to reveal your true identity."
"It's a bit inconvenient, but not for me."
Mr. Satan led her through a long corridor, the scent of the petals filling the air, accentuating her cute feet. She could almost feel Mr. Satan's fiery gaze fixated on her bare feet.
He stopped in front of the bedroom window. "I want to build a castle and hide you there, where no one can see you."
Emily bit her lip, her face flushing red.
"I regret letting you out and attracting so many men's gazes. I shouldn't have let you leave this room in the first place."
His tone was very serious, not like joking.
Emily hurriedly said, "I still have to go to deliver food to my father... And I enjoy being a makeup artist. I want to continue doing it."
"Don't worry," Mr. Satan whispered

support you wholeheartedly. But the thought of other men coveting you makes me want to drive them all out of New York."
When he said the last sentence, Emily could almost hear the words being squeezed out from between his teeth.
Mr. Satan cared about her.
Emily said, "Do you know, when you just said that, your tone was very much like Jackson's."
"Really?"
"Of course, you're brothers..."
After saying this, Emily regretted it.
She knew about Satan's true identity, and Satan knew she knew.
But she had never directly mentioned this secret when he was still at the Hilton Hotel. "I'm sorry... I..."
"Emily," Mr. Satan's tone remained calm. "Have you already decided that I am Allen Parker?"
Emily shook her head. "I... don't know. But I won't investigate this matter anymore, I promise."
"I don't blame you," Mr. Satan lifted her up and gently placed her on the bed covered with petals. "I'm just afraid that when I take off my mask, you'll be disappointed."
"Disappointed in you? No, you won't disappoint me."
"Perhaps I'm not like the Allen Parker
you imagine tall, handsome,
wealthy, and powerful. Stripped of the halo, I'm just an ordinary man who loves but cannot have. I'm afraid you'll leave me because of this disparity."
His words were vague, as if admitting something, yet also not admitting anything.
Emily leaned against his chest, silently gazing at him. "You said that if I don't leave you, you'll never give up on me. Is that promise still valid?"
"Of course."
"What's the expiration date?"
"For a lifetime."
"Alright," Emily said. "Today is my
birthday, so I'll make a wish. I wish that I'll never leave you for the rest of my life, regardless of whether you're poor or wealthy, handsome or ordinary, exceptionally talented or mediocre. I'll always be by your side. And you're also never allowed to leave me, even if your beloved woman comes back looking for you. You're absolutely not allowed. You said you might not be outstanding enough, but the truth is, I feel the same. I want to be selfish for once. I don't want to give you back to her."
