Chapter 276: A Perfect Match

Frowning, Mariana looked away from the window and shut up too, but the melancholy that still stirred

inside her made her uncomfortable.

Soon, they returned to the villa. She opened the door and stepped out, ignoring the man behind,

walking straight past Carmen who greeted her with a smile, and quickly went upstairs to her room.

Leopold gazed at the slender figure of the woman before him as his eyes narrowed slightly, and his lips

pursed to contain his emotions.

With a somewhat puzzled look at Mariana's back, Carmen frowned, unable to resist asking:

-Mr. Durán, what's wrong with the Señora? She doesn't seem very happy.

He didn't go online much, so he didn't hear about the gossip that was spreading. He had been glad to

see the two of them together again, thinking their relationship was slowly improving, but to his surprise,

one had a grim look on his face and the other had left in a hurry.

Leopoldo sighed and, instead of answering her question, said:

-I don't think he's had dinner yet, so fix something and take it to him.

At that, Carmen was quick to brush aside her doubts and nodded.

-Okay, now I'm going to cook the noodles.

Leopoldo nodded calmly without further words and took steps to go upstairs as well.

Standing still in place, Carmen looked at her back and felt something different than usual anyway, but

opening the door.

But when she found Carmen standing in the doorway, the light that had just emerged in her eyes

dimmed once more, like the flame of a candle that had suddenly gone out, leaving darkness to fill the

room again.

-What's wrong?

His voice was so soft that he seemed to have lost all his strength.

Carmen, naturally aware of their difference, smiled gently, lifted the tray towards her and said:

-Madam, Mr. Durán said that he had not eaten during the night and asked me to prepare dinner for him,

I have just finished and I will serve it to him now.

With that, he passed by Mariana and entered the room, placing the tray in his hands on the table and

raising his hand to signal her to come in.

-Hurry up and eat, madam, or it will get cold later.

The words he had said kept echoing in her mind and finally some consolation reached Mariana's heart,

opening a crack between the desolation and the numbness, small but firm.

Mariana approached the table and took the chopsticks Carmen handed her, and asked her cautiously:

-Did he say anything else?

Carmen, who was next to him, shook her head and frowned as she replied softly:

-He must be a little tired, he's already gone to his room.

Mariana blinked and looked at the delicious noodles in front of her, flashing a bitter smile. Then she

nodded and whispered:

-I see.

Seeing how depressed she was, Carmen became a little worried and wanted to say something else to

comfort her, but did not know how to speak. After a long while, she could only turn around and walk

away with a deep sigh.

When she was the only one in the room again, she put down the chopsticks she was stirring the food

with. The heavy, miserable aura returned to her as she stared at the bowl of noodles, tears slowly

appearing under her eyes.

It was a very long night.

The next day, when Mariana woke up, she grabbed her phone and checked Twitter to find that the

news of Leopoldo and Diana's romance was still at the top of the trends.

His comments were all words of blessing.

Diana is a celebrity family girl, and Leopoldo is a domineering CEO - these two are a perfect match!

Tossing her phone on the table, she smiled to herself with a grim expression. She slapped her cheek,

her about divorce.

It felt as if her heart had been ripped out, and a cold wind blew through it, causing her to feel a shiver.

He got out of bed stiffly, put on his shoes and went downstairs.

His restless thoughts prevented him from falling asleep until dawn, so it was already noon when he

woke up.

The team had given everyone a few days off after the last taping, perhaps because there had been so

much gossip about the contestants lately that the director's team had been put on alert and didn't dare

continue the work.

Mariana, after finishing washing up, saw Carmen busy in the kitchen, so she approached her and

asked quietly:

-Can I do anything for you?

At the sound of his voice, Carmen turned her head to see that she was slightly haggard, frowned and

asked with concern:

-Madam, didn't you sleep well? You look...

After a pause, she pointed to the soup she was cooking and smiled.

-Mr. Durán asked me especially to prepare it for you when you left this morning. You have to take more

later, you still need to recover.

At these words, Mariana froze and could not help but stare at the casserole in front of her, slightly

perplexed.

But he merely shook his head with a sarcastic smile.

"How could Leopoldo ask Carmen to make me soup? Maybe it was just her kindness to comfort me

when she saw how sad I was."

Forcing a smile, Mariana spoke softly:

-Come on, Carmen, you don't have to console me like that. Since there's nothing to do, I'll go out first.

With that, he turned and left.
