Chapter 492: Sense of Distance

-She said she could protect you as long as I listened to her," Daniel looked at the woman and said a

single word.

Although Daniel did not know how powerful Leopoldo was, he could tell that this man was not simple

from what he had experienced. If he said he could protect Mariana, he definitely could.

-Mom doesn't need anyone's protection," Mariana looked at her son and pulled him into her arms. She

didn't really need anyone to protect her, it was enough to have Daniel with her all the time.

-Everyone else has mom and dad, and I wish mom had dad too," Daniel said softly as he buried

himself in the woman's arms.

He wasn't doing it for himself, but for Mariana. Without a doubt, it would be best if Mariana had

someone by her side who could take care of her.

A light rain was slowly falling outside the window, and Leopoldo was standing in front of his car, looking

at the villa in front of him. It seemed that this time, when he left here, he would never have a reason to

come back. Mariana hated him so much that she wasn't going to give him a chance.

-Mr. Durán, it's raining," the driver inside the car whispered to remind Leopoldo.

As if he hadn't heard him, Leopoldo didn't move an inch. He always felt that he would never be able to

escape Mariana's clutches in this life, and just after he got out of it, he regretted it a little.

-Mr. Durán?

The driver saw the situation and hurried out of the car. Then he took the umbrella out of the trunk and

held it out to Leopoldo. The chauffeur had been by his side for quite a few days and knew that apart

from working, he had spent most of his time looking for Mariana over the years.

But now that he had found her, this happened.

Mariana sat on the couch hugging her son and, without realizing it, drifted away. When she slowly

came to her senses, she realized that the son in her arms had already fallen asleep. When she looked

at the time again, she realized that it was already eleven o'clock at night.

It was late and it was time for him to rest.

-Son, Mommy will put you to bed.

Mariana prepared to get up, but she didn't realize that her feet had gone numb and almost made little

Daniel fall to the floor.

Looking down at the son in her arms, Mariana's heart squeezed.

Only then did her eyes fall on the window and she noticed that Leopoldo was still not leaving. It had

been raining non-stop since Leopoldo left and contemplating this scene, Mariana's heart grew a little

complicated.

"Why is he standing and not leaving?"

She carefully placed her son on the sofa and pulled the blanket next to her to cover him. Then she

picked up the cell phone on the table, deftly entered the other party's number and dialed it.

-Hello...

Leopoldo grabbed the phone slightly dazed.

-Hello.

-What are you trying to do by standing in front of my door all the time? -she questioned as she looked

at the man outside the window.

Leopoldo was in a daze and was about to speak when he heard the other party's unpleasant voice.

-I'm going to say this for the last time, if you don't stay away from me and Daniel, then I can only take

my son and leave.

Without giving Leopoldo a chance to speak, Mariana hung up the phone.

She had always been arbitrary in this matter and had no mercy for Leopoldo. When he saw the phone

being hung up, Leopoldo understood. This time, he and Mariana were probably over for good.

Mariana came to the window and pulled back the curtains. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

Seeing this scene, Leopoldo smiled bitterly and turned around to get into the car accompanied by the

driver. If two people were destined for each other, but still could not get together after going round and

round, then it meant that they could not be together in this life.

Finally, the time came to leave them alone.

-Drive," Leopoldo said coldly, no longer looking at the villa.

Mariana leaned her back against the window, with a slight expression of sadness in her eyes. It was

obvious that she was the one who wanted to push the man away, but why did she end up getting

sentimental? However, Leopoldo and she were not the same.

Leopoldo could only pretend that there was no Daniel.

As for her, Leopoldo could only think of never having met her either.

Mariana had to give her son a completely new education and in that education Leopoldo could not be.

There were many opportunities for Leopoldo to have many women and many children.

-Mom...

Daniel was sleeping on the sofa and suddenly called her. Mariana looked at her son and rushed to him.

-What's wrong?

-Mom, don't send Uncle Leopoldo away. He is a good man.

Little Daniel's eyes were tightly closed and he spoke in a daze of sleep. His dream was confused, and

he still had Leopoldo's shadow in his subconscious.

Mariana looked at her son and her heart shrank.

-Be a good boy, Daniel, sleep well and don't think about anything," she reassured her son and said

patiently. She leaned gently on the little boy's side, afraid of waking him up.

Leopoldo's eyes were cold.

-Go to the office.

-But Mr. Durán, it's already late. You should go back and rest.

The driver thought about Leopoldo's health, he always went to the company when he was in a bad

mood. He dozed off with work and tried not to think about anything.

-Company.

Leopoldo gave the driver no room for discussion and spoke coldly. Now he only wanted to go back to

the company, he didn't want to go anywhere else. When he went home, the only thing he faced was

coldness and loneliness. But at the company, at least he could distract himself with work.

-Yes," the driver replied in a whisper, not daring to contradict him.

When the car reached the subway parking lot, Leopoldo opened the door and walked towards the

elevator. Like every night since he had not heard from her for three years, he was alone.

The darkness was so long that he literally "stayed awake" during it.

Every night, he always remembered his previous relationship with Mariana. These memories

enveloped him and kept him awake every night, as if there was a demon constantly pulling him into the

abyss.

It took him a long time to find Mariana, but in the end it was the same fate. He still had to face the

darkness alone and live a lonely life.

The reason he had searched for Mariana all this time was not because of his son, but to follow his

heart. Leopoldo knew that nine times out of ten in his life he had been carried in the hands of that

woman and it was too hard to get up.

Suddenly, a call came.

-Hello, Miss Velazquez," the driver answered the phone in a deep voice.

Only after seeing the man enter the elevator did the driver's heart drop with him.

-Mr. Duran hasn't gone home, I just sent him to the office.

Emily was not letting the situation go easily and kept trying to find out Leopoldo's itinerary by any

means possible.

When Emily heard the man return to the office, she was stunned.

-What happened?

She thought Leopoldo would spend the night at Mariana's house. How could she have imagined the

ending would be like this? This was enough to prove that the relationship between the two was not as

strong as she had imagined.
