“How dare you?” Nolan’s blue eyes blazed in anger as he stared at Carla with disappointment. She was the culprit.

She knew how he operated so well that she was able to clean her tracks so she’d never be caught.

Nolan could feel his wolf stirring, ready to take control. He could feel the anger and betrayal boiling up inside him, and he knew he had to stay in control. He couldn’t let his emotions get the better of him, no matter how much he wanted to.

“You did it right?” He asked in a low voice as Carla suddenly went pale.

“You set Layla up and just have added something to her drink?” He asked and Carll who looked like she had seen a ghost started looking for ways to vindicate herself.

Carla’s eyes widened, and her mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. She seemed to be at a loss for words, and Nolan’s suspicion grew.

“No,” she denied, her voice shaking. “I didn’t do anything like that. Why would you even think that?”

Nolan narrowed his eyes, studying her.

“You’ve never been a fan of Layla,” he said, his voice flat.

“You’ve always been jealous of her. I always overlooked your actions thinking you were just being childish. How could you? ” Nolan smacked his lips in anger.

“I didn’t do anything,” Carla said, her voice rising in panic.

“I didn’t have anything to do with what happened to Layla. I swear.”

“You’re a liar,” Nolan said, his voice low and dangerous. “I can smell it on you. You’re not a good liar. Now, you will tell me the truth. I want to know everything you did to Layla. And then, I’ll decide what to do with you.”

Carla swallowed hard, her eyes wide with fear. She knew she was in serious trouble but she was not going to give up, not now.

“Believe me, Nolan. You’ve been with me longer than her. I’m telling the truth.. ” she flatly denied his accusations.

“Come with me..” Nolan dragged Fer out of the room like a common criminal as Layla followed them.

Carla kept yelling that she was innocent, as Nolan dragged her to the dungeon.

Aurora and Keisha, who had heard the commotion, rushed out.

“Layla, what happened?” They asked Layla.

” Nolan thinks Carla is behind what happened.. ” she replied as they arrived at the dungeon.

Darren was there, obviously dealing with Jake, who now looked like a corpse.

Nolan threw Carla roughly on the ground and he commanded.

“Now speak!!”

” I swear I did nothing.. Carla cried as her eyes traveled to Jake who looked surprised to see her, she was going to get herself out of the mess at all costs.

“I don’t believe you,” Nolan said, his voice cold.

“No, you have to” Carla insisted, her eyes pleading.

“I would never do anything like that. I don’t know what happened to Layla, but I had nothing to do with it.”

“You’re a liar, if you aren’t responsible, what happened to Layla after she passed out in your hands, where did you take her Carla?!! ” Nolan yelled. He found it hard to believe Carla could stoop so low.

“If you don’t start talking. I’ll burn the both of you alive..” he threatened both Jake and Carla.

Carla was shaking, her eyes wide with fear. She knew Nolan was serious, and she was terrified. But she had to protect herself, she had to make him believe her.

“I took her to her room,” she said, her voice trembling. “I didn’t do anything to her. I swear, I didn’t. Please, you have to believe me.”

” You’re still lying… Nolan’s brows furrowed and he reached out for an iron rod that was lying on the ground.

He raised the rob, pretending to want to hit her, when Carla yelled.

“I did it!!”

“You did what?” Nolan demanded, his voice low and dangerous. “Tell me everything. Don’t leave out a single detail.”

Carla took a deep breath and then began to speak. She told Nolan everything, from her jealousy of Layla to her plan to frame her. She told him how she had drugged Layla’s drink, then led her to the room with the guard. She didn’t leave out a single detail.

When she was done, the room was silent. Nolan stared at her, his face hard as stone.

“I can’t believe you. You’ve disappointed me..” Nolan shook his head.

“What would you have me do!!” Carla yelled standing up from the ground.

“I’ve loved you, Nolan. More than myself. I’m supposed to rule beside you, not that scum you met by accident..” she pointed angrily at Layla, who Aurora was holding in a bid to support her.

“You’re insane,” Nolan spat, his voice filled with revulsion.

“You think you’re entitled to me, to the throne? You’re nothing but a bitter, jealous woman who would do anything to get what she wants. I will never love you, and I will never let you near the throne. You’re a disgrace.”

” Is that what you think? ” Carla chuckled dryly.

“My father died in the war to save you, Nolan. Is this how you’ll treat his daughter?” She asked, feeling her heart ache.

” I’m sure you’ll be a big disappointment to him, you’re a disgrace and don’t you ever try to threaten me with that. I did everything for you Carla and took you as a sister”

“You did nothing for me!” Carla spat. “I did everything for you! I gave you everything you ever wanted, and you threw it all back in my face! I’m not a disgrace! You’re the wrong one!”

“You betrayed me,” Nolan said, his voice deadly calm. “You betrayed Layla, you betrayed the kingdom. I will never forgive you for that. You will pay for what you’ve done.”

Carla’s eyes filled with tears, her face red with rage and hurt. “I only did what I did for you,” she whispered.

“I should have killed her when I had the chance.. ” she muttered bitterly.

“How I wish that Poison killed you, Layla. I should have done it myself but that stupid Sarah ruined my plans. Thank God she died. Because I could have killed her with my bare hands..” Carla laughed maniacally.

As everyone stilled, the realization hit them hard. Carla was the one who tried to poison Layla, not Archie.

The room went deathly silent, everyone staring at Carla in shock and horror. No one had expected her to confess to such a heinous crime, and it was clear she had lost her mind.

Layla felt sick to her stomach, her hands shaking as she clutched Aurora’s arm.

“What?”

“You heard me right Nolan, I paid Sarah to kill Layla and manipulated Archie to take the blame. Archie is my mate whom I wanted to drag because I want you. You see all the things I’ve done for you. I don’t mind killing to get you… ” she cried as Nolan looked at her in utter disgust.

” But she took everything!!!” Carla yelled pointing at Layla.

” I wish you would die, Layla. Die!!! ” She screamed and was about to charge at Layla when Nolan held her back and slapped her.
