“Stupid asshole!!” Carla cursed under her breath as she made her way out of the company.

Not only was she completely ignored by Nolan, she was also insulted by Xander and that was something she was not going to take.

“Please where can I find Layla, Layla Markos?” She heard someone ask and she stopped in her tracks.

It wasn’t that fact that someone was asking after Layla that pinned her interest, it was the surname.

Layla just came to New York so whoever was that, knew Layla well enough to know her surname.

She turned to see a lady dressed extravagantly with a lot of makeup on her face.

Curiosity got the best of her as she approached the lady.

“Hi…” she waved at her.

“How can I help you?” Scarlet asked with a frown on her face.

“I’m Carla..” she introduced herself.

“So what do you want me to do about it?” Scarlet asked rudely and Carla clenched her fist.

How dare the strange woman talk so rude to her? She thought.

“I see you’re looking for Layla?” She pointed out swallowing her pride.

“Yes I am. Do you know which unit she works?” Scarlet questioned, it seemed as if she’d already met someone that knew Layla.

“Yes. But you see Layla is not in work at the moment” she responded with a fake smile on her face. From her hunch, the lady knew Layla well enough.

“Oh I see..” scarlet mumbled, shaking her head momentarily. She just came here for nothing.

“I’m scarlet…” She introduced herself and they exchanged handshakes.

“Please can you tell me where she works? I’ll come some other time..” scarlet requested and Carla took a good look at her.

“If I may ask why are you looking for Layla, you can just give her a phone call..” Carla said.

“Well I’d love to but I don’t have her contact number. She thinks she can run forever” scarlet scoffed in sarcasm and Carla became interested more than ever.

“Um…scarlet” she began.

“I think we should go away from here, maybe we can talk..” she offered.

Scarlet took a long look at her before she finally agreed. ” Okay where do you want to talk?” She asked.

“There’s a restaurant near here, we can talk there.” Carla informed and they both walked out of the company.

“So what do you want to talk about?” Scarlet asked as they both settled down in the restaurant they had gone to.

“Layla of course..” Carla began.

“I mean you seem to know her a lot. While I know nothing about her. She just arrived in New York like someone that doesn’t have a past. So I’m just curious, that’s all..” Carla smiled as scarlet shook her head slowly.

“Well I guess you met the right person. I know everything about Layla. I’m her stepsister..” scarlet informed. She didn’t care who she was speaking with and what position she held, the only thing she cared for was shaming Layla.

“Step sister?” Carla gasped. She never expected Layla to have a sister, not to talk of a stepsister.

“Yes. Step sister”

“You see Layla led a very loose life back in Seattle and she was disowned from home” scarlet began as her lips curved up wickedly.

“Disowned!” Carla exclaimed in shock. So the nice and quiet Layla was actually disowned because she was wayward.

Today was a good day for her after all! She just heard the biggest news of the season.

“Yes disowned”

“And do you know why she was disowned?” Scarlet asked and Carla shook her head.

“Because she was pregnant!” Scarlet voiced out in a cold steel voice and Carla’s jaw dropped.

“Pre.. gna.. nt!!” She stammered. Surprise and happiness bubbling up within her.

She couldn’t be any more happier.

“Yes, pregnant. Apparently Layla doesn’t know who the father of her child is. That’s why she left him. Because she couldn’t stand the humiliation”

“You don’t mean it!” Carla exclaimed as she immediately burst out laughing.

“I’m so happy!” She announced happily. This was the best news ever. Layla was pregnant with another man’s baby. There was no way Nolan would agree to raise another man’s child.

“Wait, are you sure she’s still pregnant?” Carla asked. She wanted to be sure if Layla was still pregnant or if she aborted the pregnancy.

“Yes she is,” Scarlet confirmed. The Layla she knew, in whatever situation she found herself, she would never hurt a fly.

“Wow!!” Carla felt a wave of excitement washing through her.

Layla was pregnant with another man’s baby.

“Of course I am. I’ve been looking for a way to get Layla out of my life and I’ve finally seen a way..” she announced happily.

No doubt Nolan would throw her out the moment he discovered she was carrying another man’s baby.

“Oh geez. Seems like she already made enemies..” scarlet muttered.

“Of course yes. She wanted to steal what’s mine.” Carla rolled her eyes.

“Let me guess it’s a man right?” Scarlet asked.

“Yes it is,” Carla confirmed.

“I knew it. She has a knack for taking what doesn’t belong to her. That’s who Layla is..” scarlet uttered in pure sarcasm.

“You know what, I don’t care what you guys have with each other, but what I know about is that this is very good news, I can’t wait to share!” Carla said, sitting up from the chair.

“Thank you so much scarlet for this great news!”

“Here’s my card..” she handed over a card to scarlet.

“Call me if you need anything about Layla. I’d be honored…” she smiled.

“Bye..” she waved before rushing out of the restaurant.

She was going straight to Nolan’s place to share the good news, Layla was pregnant for another man. She was not as decent as everyone thought. She couldn’t wait to tell everyone about it, especially Xander and Keisha so she could rub it on their faces.

“Woah!!” She exclaimed happily, raising her hands in the air before she got into her car.
