PROMISE
Cora scrambled on the bed grunting loudly wondering who the intruder was.
“Hello” she muttered with a sleepy voice.
“Hello love” a deep husky intimidating voice sounded in her ears as her eyes sprang open the moment she recognized the owner of the voice.
“You, how did you?” Cora stuttered utterly confused on how Evans got her number.
*****
Adia rushed to the door immediately her doorbell rang, she knew it was Cora as Cora had texted her earlier, informing her that she was coming.
“How are you feeling Adia?” Cora asked immediately as Adia opened the door as she hugged her tightly.
Evans told her that Adia was not feeling too well and the main cause, she felt so bad for her friend who was suffering and wasn’t even aware of the cause.
Adia was literally being fooled by everyone around her, though they sincerely cared for her, because she had come to believe Sebastian and his cohorts will never hurt Adia and had her best interest at heart, but at least she needed to know that she was dying and not be left in the dark.
Adia will definitely not take it if she ever comes to know of it she will definitely break down if she finds out the people she trusted were all hiding a big secret from her including her best friend.
“Am fine now, the drugs Evans gave was effective ”
“Am so glad you’re fine and am so sorry” Cora apologized out of nowhere confusing Adia.
“For what?”
“Everything, I mean I was not there for you last night and you were all alone in this cold and dark house” Cora made up her excuse because that was not the Sole reason she was apologizing.
She was literally sorry for Everything going on, cause it was kind of her fault, if she had not sent Adia to the hotel that night maybe they wouldn’t be counting her days now, it’s all her fault.
“Come on Cora, am fine, have you had breakfast, you can come and join me. I was about to, before you came in” Adia invited Cora wearing a warm smile, leading her to the dining table.
“Hmm smells nice” Cora gingerly sat down filling her mouth with the chicken casserole Adia made.
“Hmm tasty” Cora praised stuffing chips into her mouth.
“Wow you made quite a lot today” Cora commented, having noticed the different varieties of dishes on the table, having lived in the human world for years now, Cora had been able to adapt to their lifestyle.
When she first arrived she ate Little or no food as she fed mainly on blood, but after meeting Adia, who always invited her for lunch, she started liking the idea of eating human food with a little blood as a supplement.
“Actually, I didn’t make them, Sebastian sent them earlier,” Adia confessed. Earlier today she received a package of food and a note from Sebastian.
“Wow lucky romance” Cora chimed in as she tugged Adia’s shoulders.
“Come on he’s just being nice, I’m carrying his baby after all” Adia said as that was whatever she told herself whenever he’s being nice, she’s carrying his baby.
“Hmm”
“Speaking of romance, what about Evans, he seems to be into you”
‘for sex’ Cora scoffed in her mind, Evans wanted nothing more than fun, given he rarely takes things like this seriously, you never know what’s going on in that brain of his.
“You gave him my number didn’t you” cora yelled pointing at Adia accusingly.
“Come on, we made a deal”
“You used your best friend as leverage” Cora frowned as Adia grinned.
“Come on having his number is not gonna bite, he’s nice you know”
‘i wish, he’s just a annoying pervert’
“Forget about that, when are you moving?” Cora asked since Adia was meant to move the day before but she’s still here, or did Sebastian change his mind about protecting her.
“Actually I begged him for a favor”
“To…”
“To spend some time with Addison, while she’s still recovering” Adia broke the news to Cora who seemed to agree.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“But with condition” she confessed, Sebastian wrote the condition in the note he sent earlier.
“Which is?” Cora knotted her brows curious about the condition.
“He said I shouldn’t live in this shabby place with his baby,” Adia explained as Cora scoffed at his cockiness.
“So what? That’s not a problem, you can come over to my place, it’s big enough to accommodate the three of us” Cora offered as Adia blinked in disbelief.
“Thanks so much” Adia hugged Cora affectionately.
“So when are we moving”
“Now, I’ll pack some of our stuff then we go and pick Addison from the hospital bed then go straight to your place” Adia told Cora of her plans who agreed immediately.
“That’s great then, I’ll just finish up” cora said referring to her food.
“Ok I’ll get started now” Adia said rushing inside to get her things ready.
*****
Cora packed up Addison things in the truck while Adia signed the discharge papers.
Cora was so grateful that she didn’t run into Evans at the hospital, he was the last person she wanted to meet now or forever.
She sat in the car waiting patiently for Adia and Addison, minutes later Adia and Addison arrived.
Cora turned on the ignition switch and was about to move when Addison suddenly asked after Sebastian.
“Where’s uncle Sebastian?”
“He had an important meeting so he couldn’t come over” Adia explained but Addison didn’t seem satisfied as she frowned immediately.
“What’s wrong Addison?” Adia questioned noticing her mood.
“He promised to come see me before I got discharged, he also promised me gifts when coming” Addison responded as Adia felt her head spinning, why does her sister like Sebastian so much, they just met once.
“Like I said he’s busy with work, he can’t come, maybe next time” Adia tried persuading but it only got worse as Addison frown deepened.
“Ask him to come over to our place” Addison requested putting Adia in a tight spot. Cora just sat still grinning as she watched Adia struggling with her sister.
“I will, but not now, you need to have a good rest, once we get home, I’ll ask him to come over”
“Promise?” Addison muttered pointing her pinky finger at her sister.
“I promise”
“Thanks Adia, you’re the best” Addison happily hugged Adia, who patted her head lovingly before Cora drove off the hospital premises.
