Since waking up, Lucas had been treating her very specially. From being accompanied to bathe, to picking out clothes for her. Cooking her favorite breakfast menu. And of course, feeding her as usual.

Actually, this often happened on ordinary days. What made it extraordinary was the presence of Veronica, Darwin, and Sean who were sitting in the dining room together with them this morning to enjoy breakfast.

Deasy was certainly surprised. She never expected Lucas to invite his friends so early in the morning to visit and have breakfast together. Because usually, inviting people to celebrate birthdays always happened in the evening or at night. What was even more impressive was that their friends willingly came even though it was very early and on a holiday.

“Well, this is one of the surprises. Inviting your close friends to have breakfast together.”

Deasy shook her head in disbelief. Where did her husband come up with this brilliant idea? When asked if she was happy or not, Deasy was perfectly happy to enjoy breakfast with her closest friends whom she considered as family.

“If it weren’t your birthday, I swear, I wouldn’t come to someone’s house this early. Especially on a holiday. Shouldn’t it be used to sleep in?”

Darwin grumbled. His face clearly showed a slightly annoyed expression. Perhaps he was irritated because his holiday time, which he usually used to rest, was forcibly taken away by his wife, who insisted on attending Deasy’s birthday.

“Oh, dear, Luc. What are you doing inviting Darwin, anyway?” Deasy retorted after Darwin finished grumbling. “Besides, Darwin isn’t my special friend. There’s no need to bring him here. Veronica and Sean’s presence alone is more than enough.”

Darwin sighed loudly. Deasy was really something else. He had gone out of his way to come here, and yet he wasn’t appreciated. Although, if he wanted to bring up his kindness, he had saved her life twice already.

“Hey!” Darwin scolded while looking irritated. Folding his hands in front of his chest, he mumbled, “I’m not a special friend, that’s right. I’m not interested in being your friend either. But, please don’t forget. My blood is flowing in your body. If it weren’t for me, you might be dead by now. Don’t forget that, too. I’ve saved your life twice.”

Deasy glared. She couldn’t believe what Darwin had just said made her even more irritated.

“Do you know why I don’t want to make you my friend? Your mouth is so sweet, Win. Just like a woman. You love to brag about your kindness.”

“Just like you, Des.”

“Well, then, you don’t want to help me willingly? Go ahead, take your blood back from my body. Squeeze it out. Then keep it in the fridge. You’re so unenthusiastic!”

“Enough… enough,” Veronica interjected, shaking her head. Why did every time they met, her friend and her husband had to argue like cats and dogs? “Can’t you just not fight for once?”

“No, we can’t!” Deasy and Darwin replied in unison.

“Cieee… so united,” Sean teased, who had been mostly silent since earlier. “Don’t hate each other too much, Des. Maybe you’ll end up falling for Darwin.”

“Ugh, no way.” Deasy said that loudly, tapping her fingers on the table surface. She hoped God wouldn’t grant what Sean had just said. “Don’t say such things, Sean. Crazy if I fall for Darwin. Like my husband isn’t handsome enough.”

“I’m also not interested in being liked by you, Deasy!” Darwin asserted.

Lucas just laughed. While listening, he fed Deasy breakfast without any awkwardness, making sure his wife finished the specially prepared meal.

“But, Luc…” Deasy said afterward when her gaze shifted to Lucas. “Thank you so much for arranging all of this for me.”

“You’re welcome, dear. But, this isn’t the main surprise.”

Deasy’s forehead immediately furrowed. After all, she had been given a luxurious house as a gift last night. And this morning, she was surprised by the presence of her friends. So, what other surprise did Lucas have in store?

“What else do you want to give?”

“You’ll find out after we finish eating.”

Deasy seemed impatient. She was clearly enthusiastic and curious about what Lucas was going to give her this time.

“Here, I also have a gift. I’m sorry I couldn’t get something more extravagant,” Veronica said as she handed something to Deasy.

“A key?” Deasy wondered after receiving the gift from Veronica. “Is this a car key?”

“No,” Darwin chimed in. “It’s the key to a carousel.”

“Win!” Deasy exclaimed, her face showing annoyance. “I’m asking seriously here.”

“Besides, the car brand is clearly on the key, why are you still asking? Are you pretending not to know, or do you really not know?”

“Just making sure. Besides, are you seriously giving me a car, Ve?”

Veronica nodded, confirming Deasy’s earlier question.

“Yes, Des. I thought it would be perfect for you.”

“Oh my God, Veronica. Thank you so much. Actually, this isn’t necessary, but it’s a blessing, right? Superstitious.”

Lucas and Sean both laughed. Deasy had a way of saying she felt uncomfortable, but in the end, she accepted everything willingly. Moreover, it would be a shame to refuse Veronica’s gift of a car.

“Just take it, okay…” Darwin deliberately joined the conversation again. His behavior was exactly like that of a woman who was participating in gossip. Everyone then continued their breakfast, which Lucas had arranged so thoughtfully. While chatting, they all seemed to be immersed in the warm atmosphere that had naturally formed that morning.

Perhaps, around 10 o’clock, Darwin, Sean, and Veronica decided to leave. After the guests left, Lucas immediately pulled Deasy to go to their room. Guiding her to sit on the sofa, while Lucas walked to the closet, and then returned to Deasy, offering her some clothes to change into quickly.

“Hurry up and change. I want to take you somewhere.”

“To somewhere? Where are we going?” Deasy asked, confused.

“Anyway, it’s a surprise. You’ll find out on your own later. What’s important now is to get ready quickly.”

Deasy nodded in agreement. Following Lucas’s instructions, she quickly changed her clothes, applied makeup, and tried her best to look beautiful this morning.

Once she was ready, Lucas led Deasy to say goodbye to Mama Diana, who happened to be at their residence. After that, they got into the car and headed to the destination Lucas had prepared.

“Where are we going?” Deasy asked, growing more confused. Especially since her husband hadn’t brought Jonas with them on this journey.

“We’ll be there soon,” Lucas replied calmly.

Finally, fifteen minutes later, the car that Deasy and Lucas were riding in arrived. Lucas then invited Deasy to get out.

“We’ve arrived.”

Deasy hurriedly got out of the car. Instead of having her mounting curiosity answered, she became even more puzzled.

“The airport? Where are we going? Why did you bring me to the airport? And Jonas was left behind too.”

“He’s intentionally left behind, dear. From the time we got married until Jonas was born, we’ve never been on vacation just the two of us, right?”

“Yeah, you’re right,” Deasy nodded. “But what about Jonas? Is it okay to leave him with Mama?”

“Don’t worry. Jonas will be fine. Mama and the other assistants will take care of him. Besides, all of his needs will be met. So, you don’t have to worry. And I promise, our trip won’t be long.”

Deasy tried to dispel the worry that had been haunting her. In any case, she couldn’t help but think about Jonas, who was only three months old but already being left behind.

“Relax, dear. Jonas will be just fine. For now, let’s enjoy our vacation together.”

“So, where are you taking me?”

“I’m taking you on a honeymoon to Japan.”

Deasy was taken aback. The worry that had been haunting her now turned into joy. How could she not be happy when Lucas was taking her to the dream country she had always wanted to visit?

“I hope you’re happy with this gift. I promise to always do my best to make you happy.”

Deasy nodded. She took Lucas’s hand and followed him into the airport. After waiting for a while, they would depart for the country that Deasy had always dreamed of visiting.
