PREGNANT BUT REJECTED AS A BILLIONAIRE WIFE

PHB 40

After receiving a sudden call from Deasy, who requested help and left him confused, Lucas immediately grew worried and anxious. Ignoring his colleagues who were still gathered at the office celebration party, Lucas decided to leave right away.

Felix, equally puzzled, accompanied him, driving Lucas to Deasy’s apartment.

Upon arriving at Park Avenue, as soon as he got out of the car, Lucas hurriedly made his way to Deasy’s unit on the seventh floor. He was deeply concerned because he had been trying to reach Deasy all along the way to the apartment, but she hadn’t answered any of his calls.

“Mr. Lucas… you’re still in your glasses and your shirt is unbuttoned.”

Felix, realizing that his boss hadn’t changed his appearance, quickly caught up with him, bringing Lucas Orion’s usual attire along with some other accessories. Felix also brought along several security personnel and apartment staff, fearing that something dangerous might have happened to Deasy.

Upon reaching the front of Deasy’s apartment unit, Lucas had already detected the overpowering smell emanating from inside. Fortunately, he always carried the access key to Deasy’s apartment in his wallet, so he could easily unlock the door.

Once the door was opened, Lucas found the woman he had been worrying about lying unconscious. He quickly lifted Deasy’s body and carried her to the lobby before taking her to the health center available in the apartment complex.

While Lucas was taking care of the unconscious Deasy, Felix was assigned to clean up the mess that had occurred in Deasy’s apartment. Lucas also instructed Felix to handle various parties and inquire about the apartment’s safety systems that were not functioning properly.

“How’s my girlfriend doing, doc?”

Lucas was getting himself confused. With the obstetrician, he referred to Deasy as his wife. Now, with another doctor, he had to acknowledge Deasy as his girlfriend. Who knows what he’ll have to admit tomorrow regarding the woman carrying his child.

“Fortunately, Ms. Deasy was rescued promptly. So, after the examination, I can assure you she’s in good condition. She likely fainted because she couldn’t tolerate inhaling the sharp smell from the gas leak for too long.”Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

“But, seriously, is everything okay, doc?”

The doctor then smiled.

“Don’t worry. Ms. Deasy is perfectly fine.”

A few minutes later, after the doctor left, Deasy finally regained consciousness. As soon as she opened her eyes, Lucas approached and helped her sit up.

“Ms. Deasy.”

Fortunately, Lucas had already changed his appearance back to Lucas Orion. Otherwise, Deasy might have fainted again out of shock if she had seen Lucas Morales suddenly helping her.

“Lucas.”

Unexpectedly, Deasy rushed into a hug with Lucas. She held him tightly, expressing herself, possibly feeling scared because she had just gone through an unpleasant experience.

“Ms. Deasy, are you okay? I’m sorry I arrived late.”

Deasy nodded. She let go of the hug and then spoke softly.

“For whatever reason, I was afraid when there was no one to save me earlier. I wasn’t ready to die, Luc. I have so many sins.”

Lucas, who had felt touched, couldn’t help but laugh. It was amusing to see Deasy, who had been scared, speaking in such a comical way.

“The important thing is that Ms. Deasy is okay. No injuries, scratches, or any problems with the baby either.”

Deasy agreed with a nod. She silently thanked God for being merciful and sending Lucas to save her life.

This time, Deasy really had to thank her subordinate. There was no denying that she owed her life to Lucas Orion.

“Thank you so much for helping me. Although I was originally annoyed because you broke your promise.”

Lucas suddenly furrowed his brow. He wondered which promise he had broken that had made Deasy so upset.

“Broke a promise?”

“Yes! You said you would take care of me for the next nine months. It’s only been two weeks, and you disappeared without a word? So irresponsible!”

Lucas finally realized. It seemed that Deasy was upset because he had been absent for the past few days and hadn’t taken care of her as usual.

In reality, Lucas hadn’t disappeared. After all, they saw each other every day at the office. It was just that Deasy hadn’t noticed.

“Oh, I see. So, Ms. Deasy was looking for me? I’m sorry. I’ve been busy with my new job. I really didn’t have any free time.”

“Excuses!”

Deasy sighed heavily. Her expression was just as it usually was when she was angry with Lucas. “You’re so busy that you can’t even send a message to let me know you’re okay?”

“I’m really busy. Besides, did you miss me so much in just a few days that you didn’t see my face or hear from me? Don’t worry. I’ll make sure to call you regularly from now on.”

Deasy rolled her eyes. This was what made her reluctant to be honest with her subordinate. She knew Lucas would tease her.

“Don’t overdo it.”

“I’m not overdoing it,” Lucas argued. “So, if I propose marriage, just say yes, and you won’t have to worry about me disappearing or having to search for me like this. I can always be by your side, taking care of you every moment, and you won’t feel lonely at night anymore.”

“Oh, come on, that’s what you want.”

“It’s what you want too, right? Just admit it,” Lucas teased with a mischievous wink.

“Enough of your chattering, Luc. I could give you some cyanide if you keep talking nonsense.”

Lucas laughed. While helping Deasy to stand up, he responded spontaneously.

“Would you prefer cyanide, pesticide, or me who’s always there?”

“Lucas! Seriously, what’s wrong with you?”

Lucas continued to laugh. He was delighted to see Deasy’s expression when she was annoyed like this. It meant that the woman he impregnated was back to her normal self.

“But, by the way, how’s my apartment? Is it ready to be occupied now? Or does it still smell of a gas leak?”

While walking and supporting Deasy, Lucas provided an explanation. Fortunately, he had already taken care of all the mess that had occurred.

“It’s safe now. The apartment management has fixed everything. Your unit is safe and can be used again.”

Once they arrived, Lucas immediately led Deasy to the bedroom. He helped her sit on the edge of the bed.

“Do you need anything, Ms. Deasy? Or do you want something? Let me get it for you.”

Deasy took a deep breath. Shortly after, she seemed to clutch her stomach.

“What’s wrong? Is your pregnancy hurting?”

Deasy shook her head.

“I’m really hungry, Luc. I wanted to eat earlier. But then the gas leak incident happened.”

“Oh my… Ms. Deasy, you haven’t eaten yet?”

Deasy nodded repeatedly. To make it worse, her stomach made some rumbling noises shortly after. Her stomach seemed to be staging a protest.

Believing that ordering food would take too long, Lucas chose to go to the kitchen. He checked the food ingredients and then prepared a meal.

Fortunately, Deasy’s refrigerator was full of vegetables and various ingredients that could be used for cooking. So, Lucas decided to make fried rice with a variety of vegetables, eggs, and fried chicken, as it was the easiest and quickest meal to prepare.

In less than thirty minutes, Lucas, who had initially left the room, returned with a tray of food in his hands. He approached Deasy, who was still comfortably sitting on the bed.

“You cooked? I thought you left the room to buy food.”

Lucas smiled and nodded. Approaching Deasy, he intended to feed her.

“I made fried rice for you. Ordering food delivery might take a long time, and it’s late. But I’m really sorry for the messy kitchen. I’ll clean it up as soon as you finish eating.”

“Are you sure you cooked this?”

“Of course. How awesome am I when it comes to acts of service? Attentive, caring, understanding, and a good cook. You won’t regret being my wife.”

“Too bad you’re not handsome enough, Luc,” Deasy thought to herself.

Deasy rolled her eyes. Instead of entertaining Lucas’s banter, she chose to accept the spoonful of fried rice that Lucas offered. She ate it with relish, finding it surprisingly delicious. Deasy was sure she would sleep soundly tonight because she could eat her fill. She had completely forgotten about her initial craving for chicken curry with scrambled eggs and various vegetables.

“Thank you once again for helping me and making me fried rice, Luc,” Deasy sincerely repeated after finishing her meal and getting ready to rest.

“You’re welcome. If anything happens tomorrow, don’t hesitate to contact me immediately. I’ll help as soon as possible.”

“Okay. Now go home.”

“Go home? Oh my, am I being kicked out?”

Deasy nodded casually. She thought everything was under control now. She had eaten, taken her medication and vitamins, so she no longer needed Lucas’s assistance.

“Besides, everything is settled. You should just go home.”

Lucas sighed. His face clearly showed annoyance.

“Crab and turtle. I’m really not important, am I? After the sweet moments, I’m just thrown away like trash.”

“Hey, Luc. There’s a reason for everything. Your presence is no longer needed because everything is safe now. And why would you want to linger in my apartment?”

Lucas shook his head. He had stood up, but now he sat back down beside Deasy. He reached out his hand and gave her a mysterious smile.

“After giving it some thought, for your safety and well-being, I’ve decided to stay in your apartment from tonight onwards.”

“What?”

Deasy was taken aback. She needed to confirm what she had just heard.

“What did you just say?”

“I said, starting tonight and for the nights to come until the next nine months, I’ve decided to stay in your apartment. So that I can easily monitor, take care of, and watch over you to prevent any bad incidents like earlier from happening again.”

“But, Luc, you can’t just-”

“No need to protest. Besides, there won’t be anyone to get angry if I stay here. If we live in the same apartment, there’s no way the public order enforcement will raid and arrest us. Who knows, if we live together for a while, you might eventually melt and agree to marry me.”

“What? Did you just say what I think you said?”

“Yes, M – A – R – R – I – A – G – E, marriage. Or do you want us to live together without getting married? I’m not really a fan of that, but if you insist, I’ll consider it, and we can try moving to another country where couples can live together without marriage.”

Deasy was stunned. She was at a loss for words in response to Lucas’s sudden decision. What would her life be like now, living alone with the nerdy man who had impregnated her? Would it really turn out to be a happy experience, or would it be a disaster?
