Among all the family members eagerly awaiting news of the upcoming baby in Deasy’s womb, Andreas Morales is one of the individuals who is enthusiastically involved.

“Don’t you want to take Deasy abroad? Singapore, for example.”

Lucas smiled and then shook his head. He knew his father always wanted the best for his family members. However, it wasn’t feasible for Lucas to take Deasy abroad now.

“In Indonesia is fine, Dad. Besides, the medical facilities here are just as good as abroad. Plus, it’s not feasible at all for Lucas to travel with Deasy overseas right now. I’m worried about the possibility of serious contractions or sudden labor during the trip. It could be dangerous.”

Lucas had a point. Moreover, the medical technology in Indonesia was also top-notch. Instead of risking his daughter-in-law and the future grandchild’s lives, Andreas thought Lucas had made the right decision.

“Well, in that case. The most important thing is the safety of the mother and the baby. If you need any help or anything else, don’t hesitate to ask. Papa is ready to assist.”

“Thank you for your prayers, Dad,” Lucas replied sincerely. “If everything goes as planned, Deasy is likely to give birth next week.”

“Then, when the baby is born, I’ll throw a grand welcome party. After all, he’s the first grandchild in our family.”

Lucas smiled and nodded. He didn’t want to spoil his father’s happiness, so he agreed with what his father had in mind. If he were in Andreas’s shoes, he would probably do the same.

“That’s why, since Dad is here, Lucas wants to request around seven days off from work for next week. Lucas wants to be an alert husband, Dad. He just wants to be there for Deasy when she gives birth.”

Actually, as a boss, Lucas could take leave or an extended break anytime. However, because he didn’t want to act arbitrarily, he still asked for permission from his father, who was the highest authority.

Meanwhile, Andreas nodded repeatedly. He had no objection whatsoever to Lucas’s leave request. After all, Lucas rarely took time off because he was so busy managing the company.

“No problem, Luc. I’ve never stopped you from taking leave, especially when it’s to accompany Deasy, who is about to give birth soon. I grant you permission to be there for her.”

Lucas smiled. He was pleased that his request received immediate approval from his father.

However, as they were about to continue their conversation, Lucas’s phone began to ring. Glancing at the screen, he saw Veronica’s name displayed there.

Feeling that something important might be happening, Lucas quickly answered the call. Just as he was about to speak, he heard a panicked tone from the other end.

“Yes, hello?”

“Lucas, can you come to the hospital right now?”

Lucas’s brow immediately furrowed. Without any prior warning, he was being instructed to go to the hospital right away.

“The hospital?”

“Yes. Deasy needs to give birth now. Her water broke prematurely, and she’s even experiencing bleeding.”

Upon hearing the news Veronica had just conveyed, Lucas jumped in shock. He quickly ended the call and prepared to leave.

Andreas, who was still seated and intentionally observing, immediately inquired. He was curious about what had suddenly made his son, who had been calm just moments ago, now suddenly panicking. Andreas was sure that something significant was happening.

“Luc, what’s going on? Where are you going?”

“Lucas is going to the hospital, Dad,” the young man replied while grabbing his car keys, getting ready to leave.

“The hospital?”

Lucas nodded. He could no longer hide the worry that was starting to overwhelm him.

“Yes, Dad. Veronica just called to say that Deasy’s water broke prematurely. She’s at the hospital now to give birth.”

“So, Deasy is giving birth? Now? Today?”

“Yes, Dad.”

“Alright, Papa will go with you.”

Both of them hurriedly made their way to the hospital. Fortunately, the route Lucas took this afternoon was not congested at all, so he was able to reach the hospital without getting stuck in traffic.

Entering the hospital, Lucas and his father walked quickly towards the delivery room. Upon arrival, they found Veronica and Darwin standing anxiously, waiting for the latest updates on Deasy, who was currently being treated by the doctor.

“Veronica…” Lucas called out.

Lucas, who was in a state of panic, bombarded them with so many questions. He was truly afraid that something bad might happen to his wife.

“Ve…” Lucas called out again. “Deasy is okay, right? Why did she have to go to the hospital?”

Veronica nodded, slowly recounting the sequence of events that had happened to Deasy.

“At first, Deasy was perfectly fine. I was even 100% sure that there was nothing wrong with her condition. We chatted for a long time as usual. We ordered food together, had snacks, and everything. Then, I don’t know why, suddenly when we were about to leave, her water broke prematurely. I thought it was just a little leak. But not long after, fresh blood started flowing.”

Lucas took several deep breaths. Despite his overwhelming concern, he tried not to panic.

“But when you got to the hospital, Deasy received immediate treatment, right?”

Once again, Veronica nodded. She did her best to provide an explanation, feeling sorry for Lucas, who seemed bewildered and, of course, extremely worried about his wife’s condition.

“Yes, Luc. The doctor immediately took charge and performed the necessary procedures. Right now, we’re just waiting for the delivery process. Hopefully, nothing will happen that endangers Deasy and your future baby. I’m sure Deasy will be fine. She’s the strongest woman I know.”

Lucas nodded while silently praying. He hoped that God would be on their side this time. He couldn’t bear the thought of something happening to Deasy or their unborn child.

Approximately thirty minutes passed as Lucas and the others waited outside the delivery room. They prayed with anxious anticipation, awaiting news about Deasy and her future baby’s condition.

Soon after, a doctor emerged from the room. Lucas quickly approached, seeking confirmation about Deasy’s current condition. He was impatient and eager to hear firsthand whether Deasy and their child had been saved.

“Doctor.”

“Are you the legal guardian of a patient named Deasy Winterborne?”

Lucas nodded repeatedly.

“Yes, Doctor. I’m her husband. Can you please tell me how my wife and future child are doing?”

“Firstly, congratulations. Mrs. Deasy has just given birth to a healthy baby boy, who is in excellent and perfect condition. You can see and check on him in the baby’s room in half an hour.”

Everyone in front of the room breathed a collective sigh of relief. The worries that had weighed on them slowly dissipated, replaced by joy.

Even Lucas, who had been overwhelmed, started to feel a sense of relief and was momentarily swept up in the euphoria of happiness. However, this feeling didn’t last long. He remembered Deasy’s uncertain condition.

“So, how is my wife, Doctor? She’s okay too, right?”

The doctor’s expression, which had been neutral before, now appeared slightly tense. From his own eyes, Lucas could see how the obstetrician in front of him was sighing repeatedly, as if there was something heavy and difficult to convey.

“Doc… is my wife okay?”

“Due to the earlier bleeding, Mrs. Deasy is currently unconscious.”

Lucas froze instantly. He refused to accept what he had just heard.

“W-what, Doctor? My wife is unconscious?”

The doctor nodded repeatedly.

“We’ll have to wait for the next forty-eight hours. If the bleeding stops and Mrs. Deasy can pass through the critical period without significant complications, her condition will be fine afterward. Most importantly, let’s all pray together for Mrs. Deasy’s swift recovery.”

Upon hearing the doctor’s explanation, Lucas slumped into a waiting room chair. He suddenly felt weak and stiff, as if his bones could no longer support his weight.

Lucas wasn’t sure if he could wait for that long just to find out if Deasy would be okay or not.
