PREGNANT FOR THE BILLIONAIRE

“Damn! You still love Sadie right?” I growled in rage as I stood from the bed watching the awestrucked Edde who looked at me like I’m insane. “Here you go rejecting me again making me feel desperate, what could be your excuse now?”

“Come on Betta, don’t be like that. I have nothing to do with Sadie or any other woman, all I see is you, I love you and you know that already but can you just stop all these?” He uttered and hissed frustratedly.

“Oh now I’m the desperate one that begs for sex, well I’m sorry for disturbing you I can simply call someone over huh?” I said, raising my brows at him as he bit his lip in rage.

“Do whatever you want, I am going to California on a business trip tomorrow. I planned on not going but it seems like you need space” he smirked and walked out of the room leaving me dumbstruck.

He didn’t react the way I expected him to react when I told I’d bring a man in, but instead he decided to leave me for California? Is he really pissed off with me? And now he would go with his crude P. A and might possibly do something naughty with her.

What have I done…

I thought of yelling his name with all the anger and guilt in my heart but my baby’s cooing sound reminded me that I was no longer a regular girl. I have a responsibility now.

I growled and fell back to the bed as I pulled the duvet over my body and shut my eyes ready to give up to sleep but I wasn’t feeling comfortable enough to sleep, I couldn’t stop checking the time and waiting for Edde to get back in.

It was already a few minutes to midnight and Edde wasn’t here yet. I grabbed my phone from the cabinet table and placed a call on him, after several ringing it ended without him picking up. I felt my eyes blurring up with tears as I kept trying his line.

“Will you sleep or continue disturbing my phone?” I heard his voice as I looked at the wall mirror opposite the bed next to the baby’s bed to see his reflection. He had a stern expression with his arms crossed against his chest.

“Why didn’t you pick it up?” I asked calmly as he sighed and creeped to the bed making my heartbeat calm, I was literally losing my mind with fear that he was annoyed at my little sex urge which I didn’t quite understand.

“I was sleeping and you were disturbing me, what do you want?” he asked as he rested his back on the head board and I wrapped my arms around his waist.

“I’m sorry, sleep here with me please” I pleaded as he chuckled softly.

“Did you really think I was angry at you?” He asked as I nodded, still holding him tightly. “I wasn’t, I just thought you needed space that was why I left”.

“Are you really going to California tomorrow?” My voice came out cracked as he nodded gently.

“Yes I am, I was about to tell you but the whole birthing issue didn’t let me, it’s quite important. I will be meeting with some foreign clients to talk about opening another branch for Brigitte, so it’s something I gotta be present for huh?” He explained as I nodded. “Don’t worry, I will get a trustworthy old nanny for the Baby, you won’t have to stress yourself”.

“How long will you stay?” I asked curiously as he shrugged indifferently.

“A week or two?. I can’t tell but don’t worry I won’t stay for long I promise. I have you and a new baby to take care of” he uttered reassuringly and pecked my forehead. “Let’s sleep, Grey is sleeping now”

I woke the next morning to see myself lying alone on the bed as I quickly sat up and checked the time. It was 10pm at the dot. I swung my legs down to the floor as my heartbeat increased at the thought of Edde leaving for California without me seeing him and saying goodbye.

I quickly ran over to my baby to see him awake and looking up at the ceiling, at least he wasn’t crying or anything so I quickly ran out. I hastily climbed down the stairs as my phone chimed loudly, grabbing my attention to it. It was a text from my mom about her already leaving for Atlanta with the excuse of her flight already booked by her boyfriend.

The heck is wrong with these people, why will they just leave the house without at least waking me up, I really hope Edde hasn’t gone. I won’t be happy with him.

“Ray! Ray!… Who is home Melanie!?” I called out as I stood in the middle of the empty sitting room.

“Elizabeth, are you okay?” I heard Mr Reluc’s voice as I turned to him.

“Good morning sir, please where is everyone? Where is Edde?” I asked curiously as he smiled.

“Edde and Melanie went to pick up the baby’s new nanny, I’m sure they’d be on their way back” he uttered as I exhaled in relief.

“Ray is still sleeping, the workers are in their duty posts… I’m sure you know that your mom has gone?” He said as I nodded.

“Everywhere just looked empty, I’m sorry for disturbing” I hissed as he nodded and took a seat as I ran back upstairs to my kid.

Getting to the room I rolled out the pram and placed Grey inside it, he had a smile on his face as he kept kicking the air. I couldn’t help the smile forming on my face as I pushed him inside the Pram to the bathroom for his morning bath.

I was having mixed feelings about having a nanny take care of my baby. I know that I will need help when Edde and the rest of them leave but at the same time I don’t really want anyone to help with my child’s care.

“Betta!” I heard Edde’s voice echo from outside the room as I pulled Grey out of the baby bath. “Elizabeth, are you awake?” He called again as he pulled the door open and came in with a mixed expression.

“You didn’t have to yell my name like that, the whole neighborhood would know my name now” I said as I dried Grey’s skin gently. He was so small and soft on my arms that I had to be extra careful with him.

“Well, Grey’s Nanny is here now, I hope you like her though” he said and poked Grey’s belly playfully.

“I hope so too” I sighed. “I see you already have your luggages ready for your trip huh?” I asked nonchalantly as he nodded with a smile.

“Yeah, and Ray is coming with me, I see you already miss me” he chuckled as I rolled my eyes heavenward.

“Sad truth, Get Grey a nice warm outfit from the closet please”.

I sat on the bed with Grey on my arms as I breast fed him, I couldn’t help but think of Edde leaving the house. I wanted a good time with Edde and my son but it seems like his job is getting more serious and he would always go on a trip… Soon I will leave Edde’s life and all the moments we shared.

It’s really fucked up that I fell in love with him and he also fell back for me but he obviously ain’t the type to give his all for love. He isn’t ready for the commitment.

The security guards had already sent Edde’s luggages and other important things to his car. Edde hadn’t left the house yet but I already felt lonely.

I trailed down the stairs to the sitting room to see everyone standing as if ready to lead Edde out, Ray had a Jean trouser on and a white top which he covered with a leather jacket… He never looks cooperate anyways.

My eyes drifted to the middle aged woman who stood behind Melanie as if she was isolated, she had this humble look on her face which I didn’t buy at all. I knew that look, I did it anyway. The look we all have when we need a Job and we want to be pitied and considered.

“Hey Etta, here is Grey’s Nanny Miss Brooke” Melanie introduced as I faked a smile and nodded, she isn’t married.

A red flag already.

“Uhm, Miss… Brooke, what makes you think you can take care of my newborn?” I asked as I fully stepped down the stairs. She nervously cleared her throat and took a deep breath, she was feeling intimidated.

“I… I have twenty years experience with kids, I worked in a Catholic orphanage home for twenty years and I was more into taking care of the babies to the toddlers and the rest” She said as I nodded, still looking forward to a more convincing excuse. “You can trust me with him, really, I can’t hurt your child. I can bathe him, feed him and all the necessary things” she said as I exhaled, quite convinced with the bathing part, it was quite hard to bathe Grey because he was extremely soft and slippery… I sure need help with that.

“You don’t need to feed him, I will do that. All you have to do is bathe and watch over him” I uttered quite harshly as she bowed slightly.

“Thank you so much for not rejecting me,” she said, sounding quite happy as I shrugged indifferently.

“Doesn’t mean that I can’t fire you immediately, by the way why did you leave the orphanage?” I asked curiously.

“I had to leave because of my age, they employed younger women” She uttered as I nodded.

“That’s my Son, Grey” I said pointing over to the pram as she smiled and walked over to him.

All these while, everyone looked at me with deep surprise on their faces which I didn’t quite understand.

“Come on, I and Melanie will escort you out” I smiled as we all headed out together, Edde didn’t stop stealing glances at me anyways.

“Wow, Elizabeth, what was all the interview for!?” Ray Muttered in Awe as I scoffed.

“I was just doing what a mom is supposed to do” I said and nudged him playfully. “Was that why you all were looking at me like a lost sheep?” I uttered chuckling lightly.

“I haven’t seen that part of you before” Edde said as I walked over to his arms as he welcomed me in with his arms wrapped around my waist.

“Really, me too!” Melanie confirmed as I laughed out.

“I miss you already” I mumbled as I buried my face on his chest and blinked the tears in my eyes back.

“I won’t stay long, I promised,” he replied softly as he rubbed my hair gently. “Look at me” he requested as I slowly raised my head. “You’re crying Betta, come on stop it” he said, faking a frown with a pouted lips as I pecked him. “That can’t be a goodbye kiss” He said and pulled me closer as his lips locked with me.

“Hey! I’m here!” Melanie yelled playfully as I laughed into Edde’s lips. “Edde go already!”

“Edde, come on! The flight is ready!” Ray said as we pulled out of the long passionate kiss.

I watched Edde enter the car as they started driving off, I couldn’t stop waving goodbye at him even if the glasses are tinted and I can’t see him.

“You will be fine Etta, let’s go in” Melanie said as she threw her arms on my shoulder.

These few weeks will be lonely for me, Melanie will soon go too, Mr Reluc is probably getting ready for his trip too. His car is ready and waiting for him.
