Chapter 264: Tonight, Are You Coming In or Not?
After a night of dealing with public relations, despite the written clarification statement came out, the Internet rumors seem to have improved. They worked till past midnight only then they got off work.
Hayden and Dante came downstairs side by side, Benjamin had been waiting for her at the door for quite sometimes.
After he saw Benjamin, Dante nodded his head as a greeting and said to Hayden, “So, I’ll leave first. You take care on the way back.”
“Okay, thanks for your hard work.”
“Don’t mention it, but these two days, I suggest you to be extra careful. Get someone to accompany you whenever you are outside. Cyber violence is not a joke.” Dante had been through this, so he spoke with empathetic concern.
Hayden nodded, “Don’t worry.”
As she reached home, she saw the light in the living room was on and the house was quiet.
Not long after Hayden opened the door, Joseph walked out of the bedroom of the two children. NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
“All asleep?” Hayden asked subconsciously.
Joseph nodded, “Yes. How are things being handled?”
“You knew everything?”
Hayden put down her bag, changed her shoes and went to the kitchen to pour some tea.
Even people like Joseph who never surf the Internet knew about the news this time, that meant it was really a big deal.
“It’s hard for him to not know. I heard that the migrant workers in Downey Group were making trouble again. Downey Group was just a street away from ST Group, how could we not know?” Benjamin explained and sat down on the sofa.
Joseph glanced at him and followed Hayden into kitchen to help.
Three cups of tea were poured, one cup was placed in front of each person. The three of them sat down around the coffee table.
“How’s the investigation?” Joseph asked. He looked directly at Benjamin.
Upon seeing this, Benjamin frowned, “What investigation? How do you know I'm investigating?"
“First, you just submitted a bid to Joann Group, then someone immediately exposed negative things about Hayden. Then, right after the discussion on the Internet was controlled just now, someone immediately exposed the relationship between Downey Group, Hayden and Green Lemon Clothing. If it is said to be a coincidence, it would be too coincidental.”
Joseph had a sharp eye, so he could naturally figure out all this.
“Since you’re so smart to think of all this, why didn’t you warn Hayden in advance?”
Benjamin deliberately squinted at him, with a stance of seeing what he would say.
“You may be able to prevent them from using this matter to write into articles of rumor, but you still can’t prevent other things from happening. Better a little loss than a long sorrow. It is better to face this problem when you just start your business. It will be worse if you face them after you have built up your business.”
“Why don’t you just say that there’s nothing to be afraid if you have nothing to lose?”
“Instead of wasting time playing word games with me, why don't you tell us what you actually found out.” This was indeed Joseph’s style. He could always lead the situation with just a few words.
Although Benjamin was not convinced, he knew that this was not the time to play. He spoke solemnly, “When Hayden sent me the message, I was already at the door of the meeting room. I installed a bug in the toilet in advance. This phone recording is about Campbell.”
As he said, he placed a thumb drive on the desktop, “Later, I pieced together what the person in his phone had said based on the signal wave. The match was around 90%.”
“Just tell me, what’s the problem you found?” Hayden didn’t listen to the recording, Time was flying, she didn’t have the time to compare it bit by bit. She also believed in Benjamin’s professional ability in this area.
“It was confirmed that Campbell was indeed from Yi-Pai’s side. If I’m not wrong, Dante’s design draft was revealed by him to Yi-Pai’s side. I guess he probably wanted to leave the company a long time ago. There are only two possibilities for not leaving now.”
“What probabilities?”
Benjamin gave a cough, and when he was about to show off his professional analysing ability, Joseph’s voice sounded beside him, “He was left in Green Lemon Clothing by Yi-Pai’s people so that they could eavesdrop on your plan for public relations at any time. Another possibility is that Yi-Pai’s people regretted it and did not intend to honor the promise they had made to him.”
“Hey, you stole my lines.” Benjamin glared at Joseph in annoyance, “Are you done?”
“Which is more likely to be the true reason?” Hayden simple ignored Benjamin and asked Joseph directly.
“The second one.” Joseph looked calm and spoke slowly, “If Yi-Pai wants him now, he will not take such a big risk to continue to stay in Green Lemon Clothing. After all, once you have found out his betrayal, his resume will be spoilt by his wrongdoings. It is not good for him to get another job in this industry again.”
“There is another possibility.” Benjamin found a gap to speak, “Yi-Pai’s people are dragging him. To put it bluntly, he still has some use value to them. They want to use him to continue to lurk within Green Lemon Clothing. On the other hand, they simply do not want to use such a person. After all, which enterprise would want a person who would betray the company anytime?”
Hayden nodded in agreement, "That's right."
"What are you going to do now?" Joseph asked.
“I’ll keep Campbell first. Since his identity has been confirmed, and Yi-Pai still keeps him here, so why not make a plan out of it."
Hayden’s eyes fluttered with a cunning glow, “But this matter requires the both of you to cooperate.”
Late at night.
Benjamin went back to the room after taking a shower. When he walked to the door of the room, he stopped suddenly and saw Joseph still drinking tea in the living room. Then, he asked with a frown, “Tonight, are you coming in or not?”
Joseph glanced at him, then he cast a glance to let him understand for himself.
Benjamin frowned, and raised his chin proudly, “I will lock the door. When you have no place to sleep, don’t knock on the door. I am in deep sleep.”
After saying this, he closed the door. With a click, he really locked the door of the room.
Joseph still looked calm. He slowly finished the tea, got up and walked towards the master bedroom.
He had no intention of squeezing a room with Benjamin at all.
In the bedroom, Hayden had already taken a shower, wrapped her long hair in a white towel, and sat in front of the dressing cabinet, moisturizing her face. When she heard the footsteps at the door, she glanced at the door and a cunning smile showed on her face.
The cylindrical door handle turned a little, and the angle was so small that it couldn’t turn anymore.
The person outside the door seemed to disbelieve. He tried to turn it again, but still couldn’t turn open the door. After a while, a knock on the door sounded.
“Hayden, open the door.”
Hayden looked happy, “What’s the matter?”
“I, I want to get the hair dryer.”
“I put a new one in the bathroom outside.”
Hayden deliberately yawned, “I'm sleepy, I'm going to sleep first, good night.”
After saying that, she didn’t wait for his response. She pressed on the switch of the light and turned off the lights in the room, leaving only the make-up mirror and the bedside light dimly lit in the bedroom, which looked very cozy.
Joseph stood at the door. He stiffly turned back and glanced at the opposite bedroom door, which was also tightly closed.
Even if it was not closed, he did not intent to let Benjamin open the door for him. After all, it was really humiliating.
The next morning Stella’s early biological clock woke her up at 6:30 a.m. After yawning from the bed, she climbed down from the top bunk with her eyes closed, and suddenly realized something was wrong when she was halfway up.
She stared at the large figure on the lower bunk bed and was surprised, “Joseph, why are you sleeping here?”
