Chapter 288: The Truth Three Years Ago

Chapter 288: The Truth Three Years Ago

Hayden lowered her head to the drink tea. After listening to Harrison’s question, she smiled faintly, “Noah is your great-grandson, I have not rights to not let you take him away.”

“It's good that you know,”, Harrison snorted.

“However, I think that if the problem between you and Joseph is not solved, it would be uncomfortable for the child to be caught between the two of you.”

“Mark told you, right?”

Harrison glanced at Mark who was on the side.

The housekeeper didn't say anything, but Hayden's calm attitude said it all.

“Mark just wanted me to reconcile the situation. After all, you and Joseph are a family.”

“Do you think you have this ability?”

“No.”, Hayden answered calmly, “So I refused.” Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Harrison frowned, however, he seemed to look a lot better than earlier, “You also think there is no room for reconciliation. I have not said anything for so many years, but just try to be quiet, but what he is doing now is unreasonable.”

“Are you referring to him going against your will to be with me?”

Hayden was very straightforward, “If I remember correctly, you worked hard to matchmade Joseph with me.”.

Harrison was also unambiguous, and glared at Hayden, “If I knew you weren't divorced, I wouldn't have matchmade you with Joseph.”.

“I can explain this to you later,” Hayden calmly said with no hurries, “What’s more important is your relationship with Joseph. Do you want to know the truth three years ago?”.

The old man's expression was stagnant, “What did Joseph tell you?”.

“He didn't say anything, I found it out by myself.”

Hayden opened up the file she saved on her phone and pushed it to the old man, “I previously arranged for someone to go to Guangzhou to look for the two nannies who back then looked after Noah. This is the text version of their confession. If I want to listen to the recording, I also have it however it is currently not with me now.”

The old man looked at the file on the phone and his expression gradually became tense.

“At first, Teresa and Sabrina said that the young master had instructed them to prescribe the medicine. I also thought it was Joseph. Back then I think you also received the same words but there’s something I want to ask you.”

“Ask”, the old man curled his eyebrows.

“Did Joseph go to your place often, from the time Noah was born and sent to the Beckhams' Mansion up till the recent three years back when Noah had the accident?”

The old man's expression sank a little, and he seemed unwilling to answer

Mark on the side said, “Master had never been there. He was angry with my Harrison during those two years.”.

Due to the peculiar born of Noah, Harrison did not fulfill his promise of handing the ST Group’s power directly to Joseph. Due to these two reasons, the two were at loggerheads for a full two years.

“If that’s the case, how could the young master mentioned by Teresa and Sabrina be Joseph?”

Hayden immediately highlighted the most critical point, “And they all said that they had seen the young master several times in the old house. Although it was not of a high frequency, it left a great impression on them. The servants who had been working for a long time in the family called him, young master.”

Harrison’s face changed.

Mark’s face also changed.

“Mr…”

“Is it necessary for me to continue?” Hayden asked, “I asked Teresa and Sabrina to identify them with two photos however their recollection was blurred.”

In the entire Beckham family, the person who looks most similar to Joseph is Franklin. If they take their glasses off, the two are almost 70% similar. After three years, who would still be able to remember the man who asked them to do those things in the first place?

The truth is often by our side.

The old man's face sank, “This rascal.”.

After some silence, Hayden said in neither humble nor overbearing manner, “It’s not convenient for me to deal with the Beckham family’s household matters, so despite discovering this for a while I had not informed you. Since you took the time to pick Noah, I think you still care about Joseph and Noah, so I don’t want you to be kept in the dark.”.

It was not glorious for home scandals to be told by outsiders.

The old man didn't speak for a long period however his face was pale.

Hayden distracted the subject with interest, “It should be a bit difficult for Noah to go back with you, but if you are willing to let Stella go with you, I’m sure Noah would also be willing to go.”

“That's even better.”

Mark said, “The servants in the old house all like Stella very much. Even Miss Eleanor nags about it every day. If Stella goes back with the young master, it would be less quiet at home.”

Harrison glared at him, “Mark, you are more chatty these days.”

Hayden smiled silently, bowed her head, and drank the tea.

After leaving the seat, Hayden accompanied Harrison outside to the safety net to watch the two children slide in the colorful ball pit.

Harrison suddenly asked, “Just now you said that you could also explain the reason why you aren’t divorced, why didn't you continue to explain?”.

Hayden was taken aback for a moment, “I thought you wouldn't want to listen.”

“Why wouldn’t I want to listen to the type of woman is next to my grandson?”

Harrison frowned, with an unhappy look, “Have you been following that fella for too long that you’re making yourself smart?”

That fella was naturally Joseph.

Hayden felt a little helpless. The prodigy businessman that had been admired by outsiders, was simply just a smart aleck in front of his grandfather.

“My current legal husband is just a marriage of convenience. We are just friends. Stella is my daughter and it has nothing to do with him.”

Hayden said halfway and left it hanging without explaining.

She knew that since Harrison asked these, it showed that he didn't hate her so much. Perhaps he already believed that her marriage had troubles. However, asking these, gave her a chance to explain and a way out.

Harrison looked at her thoughtfully and asked, “Does Joseph know about this?”.

“Of course he does.”

Hayden said in surprise, “Do you think your grandson will be with a married woman? He’s so proud.”

Harrison looked at her for a while, but instantly returned to his serious look, and snorted coldly, “Who knows if he’s losing his mind.”.

In the distance, Stella slid from the slide with a rambunctious laugh as she plunged into the ball pit and it rolled a few more times until she was at the safety net.

Harrison also smiled and reminded, “Be careful, girl.”

When Stella heard the old man’s voice, she got out of the ball pit and stared at Harrison, “I don’t want to be cared for by you, bad grandfather! Hmph!”.

Suddenly, he was disgusted by the kid who liked him the most. The old man was taken aback, “How come I became a bad grandfather?”

Stella stood inside the colorful ball pit, with hands placed on her waist, and said, “You're bad, you don't like my mommy, there’s a lot of people chasing my mommy. We don’t care for your family. You forgot

you made a promise to me. You will look for your granddaughter-in-law, and I will look for my daddy. Liar, big liar.”

“What promise?”, Hayden stood aside feeling puzzled.
