Chapter 71 Doing Quite Well

“It’s been quite some time since we last met. You seem to be doing well!” Elm glanced at the metal lighter in his hand, the red and blue flames reflecting in his dark pupils, his emotions unreadable.

The elevator was already on the twelfth floor and would arrive soon.

Quinton pressed the button to go down. “Do you know him?” Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Not really.” Eileen lowered her gaze and followed him into the elevator.

Charlie laughed heartily. “Elm, Eileen completely ignored you.”

Albert patted Elm’s shoulder. He smiled quietly and walked directly into the private room.

Elm laughed arrogantly and closed the metal lid of the lighter in his hand. “How heartless.”

The private room on the tenth floor was lively, filled with laughter, fireworks, balloons, cake, and candles.

Originally, the birthday party was scheduled for the evening, but Eric had to go overseas to expand the market tonight and had to leave before midnight. Therefore, the birthday celebration had to be arranged at noon today.

After singing the birthday song. Vera cut the first piece of cake. With all eyes on her, she walked to Eric, who was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window.

“Eric, this first piece of cake is for you. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to celebrate my birthday today.”

Eric had never been fond of sweets, but he accepted it. He averted his gaze, watching as Eileen got into the car. A trace of displeasure flickered in his eyes as he turned around, his face devoid of expression.

“I’ll have Alan send you back tonight. I need to go back to the company.”

Eric grabbed the keys and was about to leave. He left the cake on the table.

“Eric… Vera called out.

She glanced at the cake on the table with a hint of disappointment in her

eyes.

Soon, a girl came over to comfort her. Vera cut the second piece of cake and gave it to Elm.

The man lounging on the sofa had an air of entitlement about him, his feet casually propped

up on the coffee table. As Vera approached, Elm lowered his feet and took a bite of the cake with his fork. He nearly spat it out. “You women always enjoy these strange things. It’s too sweet. I won’t eat it, so take it away.”

Vera stood awkwardly in place, not knowing what to do.

It seemed to her that Elm was angry, but she didn’t know why he was upset!

Charlie took the cake from Vera to ease the awkward situation. He then plopped down next to Elm. “Elmmy, it’s Ms. Beautiful’s birthday. How can you refuse to eat the cake?”

Charlie leaned in teasingly. “Come on, take a bite.”

“Get lost!” Elm impatiently shoved him away. Charlie almost dropped the cake in his hand.

The next moment, a pink diamond-studded purse was thrown onto the tea table in front of them. “You! Help me return it to her!”

It was an order directed to Vera.

After tossing that purse, Elm left.

Vera was at a loss.

As Elm had left, Charlie and Albert naturally followed suit. A few other girls who had come for Elm left as well. They were here for Elm, and with him gone, they had no reason to stay.

The originally spacious private room now became sparse, with only a few people left.

The private room, large enough to accommodate nearly twenty people, suddenly felt empty.

Walsh walked over to Vera and stroked the glasses on her nose. “Vera, when is Eileen coming back to school?”

Vera’s hand clenched tightly at her side, her body trembling. It seemed that Eileen’s name had struck a nerve. Her innocent look disappeared, replaced by a cold look. “If you’re curious, go ask her yourself! Don’t ask me! Get lost!”
