Chapter 449
Nathan wasn't having any of it, "So, letting my stepmom hand me over to traffickers was just another one of your tests, huh?"
Gavin went pale as a ghost. He never imagined Nathan would remember something like that. He'd always thought Nathan's silence meant he'd forgotten those childhood memories. Nathan shot Gavin a look of pure contempt, "Save the act. You're no actor, and this father-son charade you put on is sickening."
Then, Nathan stormed off without a backward glance.
Gavin felt like he'd been hit by a truck, suddenly feeling old and worn out.
Nathan sank into the car, all his tension evaporating as he slumped against the backseat.
Ford, behind the wheel, turned and asked, "Where to, boss?"
Nathan gave no answer.
Dominick, curious, glanced over at Nathan and noticed the unusual flush on his usually pale skin. He touched Nathan's forehead and found it burning up.
"Drive him home, quick, so he can get some rest," Dominick instructed urgently.
Realizing Nathan was sick, Ford asked, "Why don't we hit the hospital?"
Dominick, knowing Ford's stubborn streak, brushed it off, "It's a heart thing. Hospitals can't fix that."
Ford, ever the science enthusiast, wasn't buying it, "How do you know if you don't even try?"
Dominick sighed, frustrated, "Ford, we've been through this before. We
24's up. He's just mentally
wiped. With some rest, he'll bounce back."
"What if the fever won't quit?" Ford pressed on.

Luckily, Nathan wasn't totally out of it. He weakly said, "I'm alright. Ford, just take me home."
Ford had no choice but to follow Nathan's orders. All his questions fell silent.
Dominick felt a brief moment of calm, but then remembered
Nathan's condition and started
worrying all over again. "You Suret
you don't need the hospital, boss? If something happens, Ford with nag me to death?"
Nathan just rolled his eyes. "Enough."
Finally, Nathan had some peace.
As soon as they pulled up at the house, Nathan started mumbling deliriously, "Nathalie, Dad doesn't want me. Do you?" Dominick, startled, nearly fell out of the car. "Ford, something's not right. Shouldn't we head to the hospital?"
Ford, sticking to his guns, replied, "You didn't want to go before, so now I'm not budging either."
Dominick shot him a look, "If something happens to him, don't start bawling, you crybaby." Dominick carried Nathan inside to his room.
The two of them stood by Nathan's bedside like loyal guardians, ready to do whatever it took to keep him safe.
