George’s surgery went really well, thankfully. His injuries were terrible but not life–threatening- He needed some downtime to get back on his feet.
On the flip side, Holly’s situation was a lot more serious. Despite a three–hour battle by the doctors, they couldn’t save her.
When Kate got the news, a cold look flashed in her eyes.
With Holly gone, it felt too simple for Kate. She wished Holly would experience much more than just the end of her life.
But the big question for Kate was why Holly had made such a drastic move, trying to take everyone down with her. It made Kate suspect there was someone else pulling the strings.
After the doctors called it, Ruth made a beeline for the hospital. She couldn’t hide her tears when she found Holly gone.
“Mom!”
Ruth crashed beside Holly’s bed, her sobs filling the room. Even the nurses couldn’t ignore feeling bad for her.
But under all those tears, Ruth was boiling with rage.
She couldn’t wrap her head around how Holly could be so careless.
She failed at something as straightforward as trying to hit Kate with a car. Not only did she not manage to get rid of Kate, but she also ended up losing her life in the attempt. Ruth had never seen such idiocy.
After giving herself a moment to grieve, a few serious–looking bodyguards approached Ruth..
“Are you Ruth?”
The sight of the bodyguards made Ruth’s heart jump. She felt a storm coming on, and she started to cry again.
“Yes, I’m Ruth. Who are you guys? What do you want?”
The bodyguards looked at her with a cold indifference, almost scoffing.
“Your mom, Holly, she hit someone with her car on purpose. That’s considered murder.”
Trying to hold back more tears, Ruth’s voice wobbled as she tried to refute their claim.
“I’m confused. Holly isn’t my mom; she’s more like a far–off cousin.”

In a panic, Ruth fought back and called out for someone to help her as the bodyguards took her to where Eric and Kate were.
Kate looked at her coldly and told Ruth, “You really have a cold heart.”
Ruth got upset by what Kate said but couldn’t look Eric in the eye. She stumbled over her words, asking. “Kate, what’s all this about?”
“So, were you the one who told Holly to hit me with a car? She didn’t make it and died trying. Are you happy now?” Kate’s words were filled with bitterness.
