I was immediately thrown aback by his question.

Alpha Leo wanted me, someone of low rank to be his Lanna.

Apart from that, I was just accused of attempting to poison him Why will he ask me to be his Luna? Or, did I hear wrongly?

"I-I don't understand. What did you just ask me?"

"Will you be my Luna? I want you to be my Luna"

I tilted my head, confused. There is a rumor that I poisoned your I wanted to avoid talking about the wolfsbane poisoning to Alpha Leo because I felt things would be more awkward if I did but I just could not help it. I just wanted to be sure Alpha Leo remembered what happened earlier today.

Alpha Leo did not answer my question immediately. There was a display of emotion on his face for a few seconds, but before I could pinpoint what it was, he had a poker face. "I just want to make you a deal."

He pointed to the small pile of papers on the side stool next to the sofa he was seated on "I want you to sign a contract. I am offering to help find out if you were truly framed. If you turn out to be innocent, I want you to be my Luna."

I stood still for a while. I was speechless. "But, why?" I finally managed to ask. "Why do you want me to be your Luna?"

"I need a Luna," he said but I knew that was not the reason. If he needed one, he could have gotten someone more qualified for the role.

"Why me?" I asked. Of all the she-wolves in the pack, why was this Alpha so interested in me?

I watched his Adam apple bob. He gave me a small smile. "Because you're the best." He got up from his sofa and began to close the distance between us.

My brain told me to move away, but my body paid no heed. I just stood, waiting for him to come close

Janice was the one who called.

"Rita." She sounded breathless. Something was definitely wrong.

Janice. Is there something wrong?"

"Sebastian came to my apartment. He just left."

"He did what?" I quickly stood on my feet and started to pace up and down the room. "What did he come to your house to

do?"

"He thought you were with me. Rita, I'm glad the both of you are no longer mates. Sebastian is a huge jerk. He almost choked me to death."

My jaw muscles tensed up and my nostrils flared. "I must find a way to teach that son of a gun a lesson," I snapped.

"It will be hard to do so. He is the Alpha's nephew, remember? The only person that can stop him is Alpha Leo himself. Now that everyone thinks you tried to poison him, I doubt he will be willing to help you until you somehow manage to prove your innocence to him." I thought of Alpha Leo's contract,

"And Rita," Janice continued. "Sebastian is watching your every move now. As we speak, I can see a few wolves roaming around my neighborhood and watching my house. My parents just called to tell me to cut all ties with you. Everybody in the pack would have planned to attack you physically if the Alpha did not warn everybody not to do so. But, everyone hates you now so leaving Alpha Leo's mansion now is a very bad idea. I honestly wish I could help but Sebastian warned me not to leave my house until your trial is over?" How dare he?"
