Chapter 27
Nolan’s POV
The palace was abuzz with tension. Complaints had been flooding in from the patrols, an unprecedented number of them concerning rogue sightings near the Alpha King’s territory.
This was unheard of, rogues knew better than to trespass into the Alpha King’s domain. Yet, lately, the borders seemed more permeable, and the patrols were on high alen.
I had been shouldering most of the pack’s responsibilities while my brother. Alpha King Rowan, basked in the bliss of his honeymoon phase with Nora, his fated mate.
The weight of leadership was heavy, but today is felt particularly burdensome as the elders and I prepared for a critical meeting.
Rowan, finally tearing himself away from his mate, joined us in the council chamber. His presence was both a relief and a reminder of the of our situation
The room was filled with the scent of polished wood and the low hum of angious murmurs as
murs as we all settled into our sex
Elder Marcus, his face lined with worry, was the first to speak. There have been numerous reports of rogue activity at our borders. This is highly Irregular. They seem more organized and bold than ever before”
Rowan nodded, his expression serious. I’ve heard the complaints, What’s troubling is the sheer frequency of these encounters. It’s unlike anything we’ve seen in recent years.
I leaned forward, the weight of responsibility pressing heavily on my shoulders. The patrols have been doing their best, but the rogues seem to be testing our defenses, probing for weaknesses. It’s as if they know Rowan has been preoccupied
at me, a flicker of guilt in his eyes. “It’s not your fault, brother. This is a palace issue, and we need to handle it together. What are our
Rowan glanced at m options?
Elder Lydia, always practical and direct, responded. “We need to increase the patrols, reinforce the borders, and possibly establish a temporary outpost closer to where the sightings have been most frequent. We cannot allow this to escalate?
Rowan nodded in agreement. I will personally oversee the strengthening of our defenses. We can’t let these rogues think they can encroach on our territory without consequences.
The meeting continued with detailed discussions on strategy and logistics, Rowan’s return to active duty was a reassuring presence, but the underlying tension was palpable. The security of the pack was at stake, and we all knew the seriousness of the situation.
As the meeting drew to a close, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of relief and anxiety. The rogue threat was a significant challenge, and though Rowan’s involvement was crucial, the burden of leadership still weighed heavily on mẸ
We had to act swiftly and decisively to protect our kingdom and maintain the sanctity of the Alpha King’s territory. Or other packs will panic.
Leaving the council chamber, I glanced at Rowan, who was deep in conversation with Elder Marcus. Despite the seriousness of our discussions, a part of me couldn’t help but feel envious of his bond with Nora.
While he had found his happiness, I was left to navigate these tumultuous times alone. But there was no room for self–pity now, our pack needed strength and unity, and 1 was determined to provide just that
Later that evening. I made my way to the dining room, the heavy oak doors creaking slightly as I pushed them op
open.
The room was dimly lit by a grand chandelier, casting a warm glow over the polished wooden table. My mother and Rowan were seated at one end, their faces grave as they engaged in a deep conversation. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
approached, the tension in the room palpable. “Mother, Rowan, 1 greeted, taking a sell opposite them. “What’s going on?”
My mother’s eyes flicked towards me, a hint of hesitation in her gaze before she continued. “We were just discussing the recent rogue attacks. I believe there’s a reason behind this sudden surge”
Rowan’s expression was grim as he nodded. “Mother thinks it has something to do with Nesta
The mention of her name sent a jolt of searing anger through me. “Nesta What about her?”
My mother sighed, her voice steady but laced with concern. “I believe we may have made a mistake sending Nesta away. She was a powerful healer, integral to the balance of our pack. Her absence could be the reason behind these disturbances.”
The anger I had been holding back surged forward. “Nesta? The fucking Healer? I burst out, my voice echoing off the walls. “You think this is all because we sent her away!”
My mother flinched slightly at my outburst, her eyes widening in surprise, Rowan shot me a stern look.
“Calm down,” he said firmly. “There’s no need to scare her.”
I took a deep breath, trying to rein in my emotions. “I’m sorry, Mother,” I said, my voice softer. “It’s just the idea that all of this is happening because of Nesta is hard to accept. I fucking loathe her and you know that.”
My mother nodded, her expression softening. “I understand, but we cannot ignore the possibility. You don’t have to love her. Her abilities were unique, and losing her might have disrupted the balance we maintained.”
Rowan placed a hand on my shoulder, a gesture of solidarity. “We need to consider all possibilities, even if they’re uncomfortable. Our priority is the safety of the kingdom”
I nodded, the anger slowly dissipating. “Fine. But what do we do now?”
My mother’s eyes were resolute. “We need to find a way to address the imbalance. Whether that means reaching out to Nesta or finding another solution, we must act quickly.”
The rooms fell silent, the weight of our responsibilities pressing heavily upon us. I glanced at Rowan, who seemed lost in thought. This was a situation unlike any we had faced before, and the path forward was uncertain.
I sat there, the tension slowly giving way to determination, I realized that whatever the solution might be, we had to find it together. For the sake of our park, and for the future we were striving to protect.
The tension in the dining room had become too much. The discusion about Nesta, the Healer, left a bitter taste in my mouth and a storm of emotions churning inside me.
I pushed my plate away, the food now utterly unappetizing. I’ve lost my appetite, I muttered, standing abruptly.
Rowan and my mother watched me leave, their eyes filled with concern and confusson. But I couldn’t stay there any longer. I needed to get out, to do something, anything, to distract myself from the chaos inside my mind.
I made my way to the harem, my steps heavy and my thoughts darker with each passing moment. The palace halls felt colder, more oppressive, as I navigated my way through the labyrinthine corridors.
The harem was a place where I could lose myself, if only for a few hours, and forget the weight of the world that seemed to rest solely on my
shoulders
The doors to the harem were grand and opulent, a stark contrast to the turmoil I felt inside. I pushed them open and stepped into a world of silk and sofiness, a haven where I could bury my frustrations and anger.
The women were there, as they always were, ready and waiting. Their eyes lit up at my arrival, but I couldn’t muster any real enthusiasm.
I needed to get things off my chest, and I knew the only way I could achieve that was through the physical distraction of sex.
“Come here,” I commanded, my voice gruff and laden with need.
Three, five it didn’t matter how many. I needed the exercise, the exertion, to drown out the relentless thoughts that plagued me.
1 moved through them with a single–minded focus, seeking solace in the only way I knew how. Their bodies intertwined with mine, a desperate attempt to find some semblance of peace.
But no matter how many hours passed, no matter how many times I lost myself in the sensation, it was never enough. The emptiness remained, a hollow echo that no amount of physical connection could til.
Even in the midst of it all, I knew the truth I couldn’t be satisfied, not like this
The anger, the frustration, the gnawing sense of failure–they were always there, lurking just beneath the surface. I pushed harder, seeking to exhaust myself, to find that elusive moment of release. But it never came.
As the hours slipped away and the women around me began to tire, I realized that no amount of sex could erase the reality I faced.
The rogue threats, the pack’s safety, the unresolved issues with Nesta–all of it loomed larger than ever. And despite the physical exertion, the relief I sought continued to elude me
In the end, I lay there, surrounded by a tangle of bodies, feeling more alone than ever. The harem had provided a temporary distraction, but the underlying problems remained.
I stared up at the ceiling, the emptiness inside me seemed to stretch endlessly, a void that no amount of physical pleasure could ever hope to fill.
