Return Of The Bad Boy Alpha

Return of the Bad Boy Alpha Chapter 30

Magnus

I felt Naomi's worry as I drove away from her. I sent some positive vibes back to her while driving toward the problem. Beta Rocky had mind-linked me that rogues were roaming through the street near the omega houses. I arrived, and the beta talked to a few warriors, but there was no blood or anything. I parked the bike and walked over.

"It's about time you got here," Rocky snarls.

"I was on a picnic with my mate," I reply. "You were there when Kerry and I were planning it."

The beta scoffs, "I know," He grumbles. "You and the king have such a cute little bromance," He gestures with his hands. "Anyways," He points to a few bedraggled rogues on their knees with several warriors standing around them. "We captured those. Do your job and take care of them," Rocky snarks and walks away.

I take a deep breath to maintain my composure. Beta Rocky Bedford tried to object to Kerry choosing me as Royal Gamma due to what I did as a kid. He has not held back his hostility toward me even in Kerry's presence.

I step toward the warriors. "What happened here?" I ask.

A tall and rather large warrior stands at attention, "We caught these rogues wandering down the street," He explains.

I look at the group on their knees. There is an older man and an older woman with two teenage girls. "They don't look like a threat," I say and step towards them. "Why were you wandering through the royal streets?" I ask the man with a gentle tone. He doesn't

answer me.

"Sir, my mate, is deaf," The woman says.

One of the warriors kicks her in the back, and she yelps, "The Gamma wasn't talking to you," He growls.

I growl back at him. "There is no need for abuse, warrior," I bark at him. "These people are clearly no threat to anyone."

"But Gamma-" The warrior starts to say something, and I let out another more authoritative growl. The girls cling to each other and whimper.

I sigh and kneel in front of them. "Please just tell me why you were wandering through the streets."

"We weren't wandering, Gamma," The woman says through pained tears. "We were merely trying to find my mate's sister. She is a royal omega," The woman sniffles. "He hasn't seen her in a long time."

"I see. What is his sister's name?" I ask.

The woman looks at the ground and says nothing.

"Please, nothing will happen to her or yourselves, I promise," I try to assure her.

The woman sniffles. "Her name is Grace Manes. She works in the palace laundry." She gestures to the girls. "These are our granddaughters. My mate and I have been raising them since their parents died. We don't have much, and Grace says she can help us." "I see," I stand up and look at the lead warrior, "Take them to his sister's place, please."

"Gamma," The warrior begins, "These are rogues we are supposed to interrogate and then punish them."

"An unfortunate policy," I mumble. "I am now the Gamma, and things will be changing. Do as I say," I repeat. "And do not harm a single hair on any of them," I say in my best authoritative tone.

"Yes, Gamma," The warrior speaks.

I look at the woman, "I will speak to King Kerry and see if we can find you both jobs and a house," I smile.

The woman sniffles, "Thank you so much, Gamma. No one ever wants to help us because we are rogues, but we want the best for the girls." She hugs me, and I let her sob against me for a moment while I gently touch her back. She releases me and turns to her mate, and signs to him.

The man looks at me with tears and nods. The warriors gather and put them in a van, and I hope they do as I say.

I get back on my motorcycle and drive back to the palace. I need to talk to Kerry about our rogue policy. I feel that open hostility towards rogues that are clearly no threat needs to be addressed. I reach the palace and hurry to Kerry's office.

The door is always open, and I hear Beta Rocky saying something. The beta gives me a dirty look as I walk toward the desk. Kerry eyes me with a slight smile.

"How did the picnic go, Magnus?" He asks.

"It went well," I reply and sit in a chair in front of the desk.

"You returned quick," Beta Rocky remarks.

"What happened with the rogues?" Kerry asks.

"Nothing. They were just a family group trying to find a family member. So I ordered the warriors to take them to the family member. I also told the rogues I would speak to you about making them members and finding them jobs," I explain. "Are you f*****g kidding me?" Rocky snarls. "Your job is to interrogate them, not become friends."

"Rocky," Kerry holds up a hand to him. "Why didn't you interrogate them?"

"I didn't feel they needed to be, sir," I argue. "They were just an elder mated couple and their grandchildren. They were no threat. I saw no reason to cause them further stress." "They were rogues, Gamma," Rocky snarls.

"You saw them, Beta. They were no threat to anyone," I argue back.

"That's rich coming from a guy who burned down his packhouse," Rocky scoffs.

"Rocky, there is no need for that," Kerry chimes in. "That was a long time ago, and Magnus has made amends for it. His father even forgives him. So let's focus on the issue now."

Rocky shrugs and rolls his eyes, "Either way, Kerry. He shouldn't have let them go."

"I didn't see any reason to hold them," I argue. "I want to address the policy on rogues. In my time in your army, sir, I met many rogues who were just trying to make a living like everyone else."

Kerry ponders for a moment, "I get what you are saying, Magnus. We'll go through it together and see what needs to be changed. I trust that you made the right decision regarding those particular rogues."

"Kerry, you can't be serious!" Rocky yells.

"Do not yell at my Rocky. Remember who the king is here," Kerry growls and stands up from his desk. King Kerry is an ordinarily calm and yielding ruler but cross or anger him, and even I shudder. "You are both dismissed!" Rocky rushes out of the office, and I also stand to leave. "Magnus, bring me the scroll with the laws on rogues," Kerry tells me. "We'll go over it tomorrow." "Okay, sir. Why is Rocky so hostile?" I ask.

"He and Charlie were good friends. He disagreed with me executing Charlie. He thought I should have just demoted the former Gamma," Kerry explains. "But Charlie put Moira and Emery in danger-"

"I understand, sir. I don't think I would have been merciful on someone who put my mate and pups in danger," I nod.

"How is Naomi doing today?" Kerry smiles.

"She seemed to be doing well. I think she likes working at the Archive," I state.

"Good," Kerry sits back down. "I have more work to do, Magnus. We can talk later at dinner if you want," Kerry sighs. "Okay, Kerry. I have work of my own to do. I will follow up on that rogue family also," I tell him.

"Right," Kerry pinches his nose. "I'll let you figure them out."

"I won't let you down," I grin and walk out of the office. I pass Rocky, and he grabs me and pushes me against the wall.

He growls. "Look, I know everyone thinks you are reformed and whatnot. But I know deep down you are still the rebellious piece of shit that landed you in the army in the first place. You will never measure up to Charles Henry," Rocky hisses. I push him away from me. "You are right, Rocky. I will never measure up to a traitor."

Rocky punches me hard, and I stagger back.

"You hit like a girl," I laugh and walk away from him.

'Why didn't you end him?' Kairos snarls.

'He isn't worth it, Kairos,' I reply to my wolf.

I head down to the Royal Archive and walk-in. The young woman at the front desk looks up at me with a bright smile. "Hi, Gamma Magnus. Are you here for Naomi?"

"Actually, no, I am looking for a law scroll," I reply to her. I sniff the air, and my mate's scent is everywhere. I hear a child giggling, and Naomi walks by me, being pulled by Prince Emery.

My mate stops, "Hold on, Emery," she releases his little hand and walks over to hug me. She leans against my chest and takes in my scent. "You are okay."Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

I rub my hand down her back, "Of course, I am," I kiss the top of her head. "I'm just here for a scroll."

Naomi looks at me, "The situation you have to attend to?"

"It's all good, sweetheart," I hold her tight.

"I know where the scrolls are," Emery trots over and grabs my hand. I laugh and release Naomi. I let the young prince lead me to the section of the Archive where the laws are kept. "What law are you looking for?" Naomi asks.

"The kingdom laws on rogues," I respond. "Kerry and I are going to go through them. There are things I believe need to be changed," I tell her.

"Did you have to deal with rogues this afternoon? Is that why you smell like one?" She asks.

I nod. "Yeah," I chuckle. "One of them hugged me," I reply. "It was just an elder mated couple with two teenage girls looking for a family member who is an omega," I explain. "I didn't think it was right to treat them like hostiles." "So, what did you do with them?" Naomi asks as we stop in front of one of the shelves.

"I ordered the warriors to take them to the man's sister. Then I promised to help them out," I reply.

Naomi smiles at me and looks at her belly, "Did you hear that, pups? Your Daddy is a kind man."

"Here it is, Naomi," Emery holds up a neatly rolled-up paper.

We may be in a time of great technology, but our kind keeps their important documents written on paper so they cannot be digitally altered or stolen.

Naomi takes the scroll from Emery and looks it over, "Good job, Emery," She high-fives the prince and hands me the scroll.

I peck her lips.

"Did you need anything else?" She asks.

"Do you want to have dinner with Kerry tonight?" I ask her.

Emery brightens up and grins at Naomi. She pats his shoulder. "I don't think I can say no," she laughs.

I kiss her on the lips. "Okay, my love." I wink at Emery, "Keep up the good work," I say to him.

"Just check out the scroll at the front desk," Naomi tells me. "I have sorting to do, right Emery?"

The prince grabs her hand and pulls her away from me. I wave as my mate disappears into the tomes of the Archive. I wander to the front desk, and the young woman talks to another one. "Hello," I say aloud, and the two women grin at me.

"Did you find Naomi, Gamma?" The young woman asks.

"Yes, I did. She and Prince Emery helped me find this," I set the scroll on the desk. "I guess I need to check it out."

"I'm Leelee," The young woman grabs the scroll and types into the computer. "We have everything on scrolls but still need the computer to check them out. Go figure."

"It's so others can't steal the information, Leelee," The other woman points out.

Leelee scoffs, "I know, Rachel," She rolls her eyes.

I can't help but smile.

"Name?" Leelee asks.

"Just my rank or my full name?"

"Full name," She responds.

"Magnus Bowie," I tell her.

Leelee puts in the necessary information, then scans a barcode on the end of the scroll and hands it to me. "All set."

"Thank you. Do you have the ability to look up kingdom relatives?" I ask Leelee.

"Of course, Gamma," Leelee giggles. "This is the Archive, after all."

"Look up, Grace Manes. She is an omega," I say to her.

"What do you want me to look up, Gamma?" Leelee asks.

"Just her address," I reply.

Leelee types into the computer and then writes something on paper and hands it to me. "There you go."

"Thank you," I smile. I pocket the paper and walk towards the door. Naomi rushes by me with an enthusiastic Emery pulling her about. "I'll see you later, Baby," I call her.

Naomi turns and waves while blowing me a kiss.

I get on my bike, and an hour later, I show up at Grace Manes's house with a box of food strapped to the bike I picked up at the food bank. I pick up the box and walk towards the door of the small house. It looks barely big enough for two people. I hear voices within and knock on the door.

A thin woman with grey hair opens the door and looks at me with wide eyes. "Gamma Bowie?" She asks shakily.

I nod, "Yes," I reply. "I cam to check on your sister and her family," I tell her. "I also brought some food for you all."

"Really?" the woman lets me into the house. The elder couple is sitting on a run-down couch, and both look at me with wide eyes.

"Hi," I say to them. "I told you that I would come to check up on you."

"They mean no harm to anyone, Gamma," the woman I assume is Grace tells me. "My brother just needs help."

"I know," I set the box on a table. "I just wanted to make sure that everything is alright."

"We're doing fine," Grace explains.

"I need to get their names to petition for them to live and work here," I tell Grace.

"He seems like a good man, Grace," the other woman tells her. "I am Johna Manes, and my mate is Gary Manes," She explains. "My two granddaughters are Lucy and Dana Nelson." She gestures to the girls sitting on the floor playing a game. "Thank you. What sort of jobs are you looking for?" I ask.

"We can do anything," Johna responds. "I have done housekeeping and janitorial work. My mate is good at maintenance. He knows plumbing and whatnot."

"Great," I nod. "I will pass that information onto King Kerry and then see about getting the girls enrolled in school. If you need anything else, just call my office," I smile. "Thank you so much, Gamma," Johna hugs me.

"I will change some things around here," I pat Johna's arm.

Gary signs something, and Johna and Grace sign back. "Gary is thankful as well."

I sign 'your welcome' to Gary, and he smiles. "I know a few signs from my years of training," I say to Grace and Johna. "Anyways, I have to be going. Have a good day."

"Thank you, Gamma," Grace tells me as I step out of the house

I climb onto Loretta and drive back to the palace. I go to my office and catch up on my work. I am relieved when the workday is over. I am eager to see Naomi and spend some time with her before dinner.
